So, I hear this mentioned a lot: I know what it means, and I'm learning what sort of things contribute to throat hit (PG%, nicotine strength, etc.), but I've yet to read any actual opinions on it. Basically my question is: do you guys prefer a strong throat hit? none at all? maybe somewhere in the middle? any particular reason why you prefer the hit, or lack thereof?

I know it varies for me. I have two tanks that I interchange. One of which has a 100% VG 12mg juice in it, which nearly always produces a mild throat hit. Nothing that knocks the wind out of me, but it always makes its presence known. I typically like it in the morning/mid-day. It gives me my "get up and go" nicotine fix. A little extra oomph. My other tank is 100% VG 6mg juice which produces a very slight throat hit, literally just enough to know there's something making its way into my lungs. This is my weekender/everyday tank. I can pretty much puff this casually and comfortably all day.

I like a proper throat hit. I enjoyed that when I was a smoker and if I couldn't get it from vaping I doubt very much I would have managed to quit analogs. My favourite juices are all 50/50 PG/VG and I vape 18mg at between 12w and 15w. 12w on my Provari 3/Nautilus Mini gives me a decent, enjoyable throat hit. If I crank it up to 14w or 15w I get a monster throat hit. Depending on the time of day and how bad the cravings are I enjoy being able to tailor-make the throat hit to suit. Maybe it is psychological or something but if I don't get a throat hit I just don't get proper satisfaction. So to answer your question, I am definitely a yay for throat hit!

It mattered to me when I first quit smoking and started vaping. It doesn't anymore. As long as the juice doesn't hit the back of my throat like a Mac truck, I can take it or leave it.

This is kind of how I feel. I'm still what some may consider "freshly off" of cigarettes, so I tend to enjoy a little bit of punch early in the day and mid-day on my smoke break at work, but since I've been vaping more frequently, I find myself reaching for my juices with only 6mg nic instead of 12 - 18. They tend to have more of a "throat presence" rather than an actual hit. I'm a fan of it.

I find some flavors in high PG juices hit too hard. Like tobacco flavors and some citrus ones. I find it irritating. But some of my high VG juices, even the sour apple variety have literally zero throat hit. I like it nice and in the middle. Enough to feel that i'm inhaling something but not enough to irritate my throat or tongue.

I can enjoy anywhere from a mild to a very harsh throat hit. For me, the throat hit has to be paired with the flavor. For example, to me a vanilla flavor should have a moderate to harsh throat hit, while blueberry should have a mild throat hit. If the amount of throat hit doesn't match the flavor it is like eating something habanero flavored without any spiciness to me or, just not right.

Yay to throat hit-- for me, it's just about the most important component to vaping that keeps me from needing a cigarette sometimes. As in, 24mg hot cinnamon in a dripper TH. I've actually found that most flavors just aren't as satisfying to me if I don't add hot cinnamon to them. (Although I'm not positive the TH I'm talking about/ looking for is quite the same as the TH others talk about.)
