Throat irritation?

Anyone else who is new to vamping experiencing problems with throat irritation? Believe it or not my throat feels worse off than when I smoked analogs... I know that vamping can't be quite as bad for me so I'm still trying to push on through but I can't seem to get to the heart of the problem... Ive tried both PG and VG and several different juice vendors and the problem still persists. Also have allot of phlegm build up but Im not sure whether to attribute that to my lungs expelling all the old crap from analogs now that I've quit or to the vaping.... any advice?

Hey, I'm new to vaping as well and I had the same problem. I looked up stuff all over the internet and I don't know how long you've been vaping, but I found (and if I can find the links I will :) ) that when you switch it's like there are two things going on 1. you're still going to be going through withdrawal from analogs 2. you're going to be getting used to vapor like you first did when you started smoking analogs. Hopefully that helps it just takes some getting used to. Maybe just try to keep in mind that when you first started to smoke it took time for your body to get used to.

Thanks guys! I just lowered my nic level to 1.8% too so hopefully that will help! What juices do you use just out of curiosity?

That sounds like 18 mg. I'm vaping 12 mg or 1.2%. That was when the throat irritation really started to stop for me. My juices are all over the place for pg/vg ratio, my two fave juices are 80/20 and 50/50.

Yup, I still get it from time to time. I think it is mostly related to nic levels. They seem to vary a little bit from vendor to vendor. My daily vape is "wild pomegranate". I bought it from my local shop the first few times, but it was getting expensive. I decided to do some research and found it at the source for a lot less money in bulk. The stuff I buy direct seems much stronger at the same nic level as the shop I use and it causes more throat irritation as well. I am suspecting that nicotine degrades faster than most people think. If you get a really fresh batch at 16mg, it may be quite a bit harsher than a 16mg batch that has been sitting in a shop or second hand distributor for several months. I would try lowering nic levels first. I think a lot of us (new vapors) start at a much higher nic level than we should. Start low, and bump it up a bit if you can't put the device down. JMHO

My throat itches a lot and I only use the lowest nic offered, usually 6 to 8 depending on the juice. Also, I hate to admit it, but my lungs hurt more than when I smoked and I try hard to remember not to always inhale into my lungs.

That seems like an allergic reaction to me. I wonder if you're allergic to PG or whatever?

It could be that you haven't adjusted to the throat hit from vaping, which is from the nic content and, to a certain extent, PG ratio. The phlegm is definitely your body cleaning out the lungs of the residual cigarette gunk, but the sore throat may be a symptom of a mild case of quitter's flu. Just keep an eye on it, and if it doesn't pass within a few weeks, go see a doctor.

I've never been allergic to anything, and I've used 50/50 and 70/30. If anything I'd say my throat does more stuff with the 70 vg than with the 50/50. Of course I've read lots of stuff about how to inhale an ecig.
I never had quitters flu, or weird things happen with my taste buds, or phlegm, I never had a smokers cough either. I smoked a half pack of American Spirits ultra lights a day for about 10 years, and every other kind of cigarette under the sun at one time or another before that since I was 13, and I'm 45 now.

Okay...I have been vaping about 3 and half weeks now. I smoked a pack of real cigs a day for about 25 years, but put them down when I started vaping.

Last Wednesday (on my 3 week vaping mark), I got a really bad headache, within an hour of that, my throat started getting sore. I struggled all weekend with coughing and snotting around, and have almost no "volume" to my voice.

I came into work today and a co-worker remarked on my crackling voice. I said I had stopped smoking a few weeks ago, and started vaping. He immediately said that you know that isn't FDA approved and can damage vocal chords. I advised I did know it was not FDA approved, but was a bit freaked out about the other! I still am, I mean, this guy doesn't smoke. I'm not real sure why/how he knows about ecigs...I really just need some clarity.

My youngest daughter has had a sore throat, so I think we are passing a virus around in our home. However, I have only had laryngitis one other time in my life and that is freaking me out a bit. Anyone else had this experience? Any direction to point me in would be lovely. I have used lemon/honey and even apple cidar vinegar/honey (yuck) mixture. Nothing seems to be helping...
