I typically vape right-handed, and sometimes I fire with my forefinger - other times with my thumb. When vaping left-handed, I usually fire with my thumb.

My Heatvape Defender IIs center the tank on the mod, so there's no imbalance one way or the other.

Just as long as I have a charged battery, I'm happy.

I have noticed that there is not a consistent placement of which side the button is on box mods. Even the same company puts the button on different sides on different models. For instance, Joyetech puts the button on the same side as the atomizer on the evic VTC mini, but on the other side on the grip. Eleaf switches it on the istick 30w and the istick basic. No rhyme or reason. Coolfire--opposite the tank. Subbox---same side as the tank.

I'm not saying that this is even something I consider when buying a mod, but it is something I notice when using it. That makes me curious what others think.

So I prefer that the tank is on the same side as the button and I prefer to use my thumb. What say you?
I don't care.
I use all of my mods, regardless of which side the atty is on, and I use both my thumb and forefinger equally. I like the variety.

from this thread I've learned that I've been mounting my TP wrong for a few decades now but I think I'll be a maverick and keep doing it the wrong way
The world needs mavericks - keep on with what you're doing!!

Now, real disaster is when the two-ply separates and you end up with the sheets being mismatched at the perforations. :D

Just came back from a vape beak: RX200 in either hand, used thumb or index fingers but natural preference was to the thumb. With the Cuboid, more neutral tendency.

For those keeping score at home we have:

Thumb 6 votes
index finger 2 votes
ring finger 1 vote
middle finger out the window while driving 1 vote
ambidextrous (or ambi-digit-rous) 4 votes

and some who chose to discuss toilet paper--have to admit that's a unique segway.
I don't have to keep score now: you're doing it for me!

I think I prefer the atty to either be opposite of firing button, or directly in the middle of the mod. It's not a deal breaker if the atty is on the same side as fire button though.

And I use my index finger 99 percent of the time. Nowadays I am always using my double 18650 mods. These, to me, are decently large mods. It is much more comfortable for me to grip the mod in my whole hand and to trigger the button. I don't feel as if I have a good grip on the mod if I turn it around and thumb it.

Back when I was using my little istick 40w then id hold it either way, made no difference to me. It was small enough that thumbing it was just as comfortable as triggering.

    Agree.
But, when I use my X CUBE II, I use all 4 fingers to press while resting the mod snuggly in my palm.
Most preferable position of 510 thread is the middle, like in my Panzer DNA200.
But, to answer the main subject, I was gonna say thumb, to my surprise .... when I pick up my mods, I found out that I use my index finger instead !!!

I fire my current mods with my index finger.

My old 30W box mod I would fire with my thumb.

Whether I use my finger or thumb has a lot to do with which side of the mod the atty is on. I'll typically hold the mod so the atty is on top when I take a puff. If the buttons are on the same side as the atty I use my finger. If the buttons are on the opposite side I'll use my thumb.
