when I woke up this morning after 1st day of vaping. I really, really want to make this work.

I hope it's not the PG - I already invested alot of $$ in ejuice with PG. I was smoking non-additive analogs before this, and had no tightness in chest EVER.

Could it be the menthol crystals or Lorann flavorings??

I put 2 crystals in 5ml. Still didn't taste strong, but probably too much? I'm going to stop the menthol regardless. AND the flavorings.

I have quit smoking for a year in the past. My breathing improved immediately. I never had these symptoms. So I know it's not from cutting the analogs.

Anyone go through this as a result of using menthol/flavorings?

menthol -yuk! :( The few times I've smoked (or snuffed) menthol flavours (like if I've run out and have to bum a nicotine fix,) it's made my throat and chest feel raw.)
I don't know how PG allergy manifests itself, but I'd suspect the menthol first, so like you say - cut that out and see how it goes.

If it does turn out to be the PG, you can always offer your liquid for sale or trade in the classified forum, so you shouldn't lose out too much

Thanks. I hope it is the menthol. I'm using menthol sativia (sp?) crystals - the natural crystals as opposed to that thread that mentioned menthol levo.

But I read the safety sheet for the natural menthol yesterday, and it had the same combustion warning as the menthol levo - carbon monoxide & carbon dioxide.

Not good, lol.

My chest still feels tight & I'm totally wiped out. I don't think I'd be willing to use VG either. Not from the things I've heard about it's possible safety hazards as an inhalant.:(

Oh my dear! Listen, I used to smoke winston ultra lights... and was able to inhale even the lights (never the full flavor, they were too strong). I ordered from myvaporstore, the 18 mg tobacco and menthol flavor. The vapor is so strong it makes me choke. I am not even adding anything! Someone mentioned to add a bit of distilled water to the cartridge... I suppose I will buy some and give it a try. Even the low cartridge that came with the ecig is too strong for me to inhale, but I am happily puffing away without inhaling and finding that the nicotine gets in through my mouth. So I am not having a problem avoiding analogs.

Good luck!

I'm sure it's nothing to worry about - if your atomizer was running hot enough to degrade glycerin, the taste would be so acrid you'd be gagging on it. I can't find any reports of foul vapour from a VG mix (I'm smoking one now - TW 36mg cut 50:50 with Glycerine to penny-pinch, and it's very smooth and sweet.)
Nor have I seen any anecdotal reports of the symptoms of acrolein exposure from vaping VG (though I've seen a good deal of them from smoking tobacco!)

If you're really worried, I guess you could always cut out the PG & VG entirely, and soak the nicotine out of tobacco with water or alcohol - you won't get any vapour, but you'll still get the nicotine and flavour I guess. Still a million times better than some crappy nicorette inhalator, that's for sure!

But I'd give VG a try if it turns out to be the PG.

Thanks guys. I still don't know what it is. I cut out the menthol, cut out the lorann flavoring, and reduced the ratio of PG that I diluted my ejuice with. The chest tightness got better after not using the flavoring. Then it came back. So it's either the PG or maybe the brand? Can a particular brand make you more sensitive? I know there are multiple ingredients in these things besides PG/nicotine. I am using Ruyan right now. My throat doesn't hurt though. I would think with a PG sensitivity my throat would hurt. It does feel a little tight, but not burning.

I'm waiting for TW, and Johnson Creek. If they still give me problems, then perhaps I'll give the JC non-pg a shot. Their website says they don't put in some extra irritants (ethanol & something else).

I'll be damned if I'm going to go back to analogs.

Sorry Little:(

I didn't have any tightness this morning. But I also haven't vaped since early yesterday afternoon. I did have some analogs, but oddly didn't have the normal congestion in the morning I have gotten for awhile now.

I also had bought 100% PG which I thought was food grade, but it's not labeled USP. I'm wondering also if there are impurities in it. I believe it's feed/industrial grade. So ordered USP PG & VG.

Let me know how you do!

I hate a brief spell of tightness in my chest after the first couple of days.

It wasn't uncomfortable, but it just didn't feel "normal".

After about 3 or 4 days, it all cleared up. I think it was due to a combination of getting my body used to the PG and getting clear of the pack a day plus smoking I was doing before I started using the e-cig.
