Tightness of wrap around eco wool

Just got some ekowool for rebuilds. I'm wanting to do some micro coils and I'm gonna be shooting for around .8 ohms. I've done rebuilds with SS and XC-116 ceramic, and I was able to make the wire pretty snug on them without having to worry to much about burning them. But is ekowool the same way? Or should I make the wrap a little loose similar to silica wicks?

I've been using ekowool for a while, and I tighten the kanthal tight, and it performs better than silica wick in terms of tolerating heat. Actually it out performs silica, period. I just got in some xc-116 which was $7 a foot. I was reading how great it was and I was hoping you could give a little feedback on it.

I'd go ahead and tighten your wire on the ekowool, it won't disappoint. I REALLY like ekowool, especially in drippers.

Thanks for the knowledge. I recently got a foot of ekowool to try it out, and I'm saving it for my cyclone (whenever it gets here).
But regarding the XC-116, it is by far my favorite wicking material that I have used. It can handle any heat that you give it, and it saturates very quickly. If you have ever used SS mesh, than I will say it performs very similar to that, but without the weird metallic aftertaste. The only downsides are the price, and the fact that it becomes very brittle after heating it enough times. Although if you are careful with your rebuilds, than you can easily get a month (if not more) out of a single wick. It also is very hard to fold over (even before heating it), but the XC-116 is the perfect size for protank rebuilds. I have yet to try it with a dripper to be honest. As I said, I'm still waiting on the cyclone to get here so I can start going for some clouds. With all the proper precautions taken of course.
