My eVic works like a charm. I don't need to go past 5 volts, and I don't use dual coils. For me they are more trouble than they are worth. I can get a nice vape with a Vivi Nova or my Genesis and I have not had any problems. People are tearing this thing apart, but the fact is, its a good PV. I've had Egos and Lavatubes and this is miles better by far.

I agree 100% it meets all my needs and then some. Ive been on a kgo VV for a long time and I always wanted to go bigger and better but my biggest requirement was built in charging. evic has it all. It might be a bug in mine but it allows me to blow a 2.9 ohm carto at 11 watts. which is a bit more than 5 volts. Upgrading the firmware is incredible. I think a lot of the negativity towards the device is its the first of its type, when more people get their hands on them and see what they are capable of opinions will change. It is still a brand new device and has revisions to come but the people that own them dont have to pay for those revisions! I am a fan 105$ all in for a kit battery included. For me its all I need at this point.

I think that what seems like hyperbolic negativity in terms of some vapers' responses or reactions to the eVic have much to do with the hype surrounding the device. For whatever reason (it *looks* cool,) there was a wave of hype about this device that I've never seen attached to any other PV.

Couple that with a price nearly double of some comparable devices (that don't bother to collect data) and it's almost guaranteed that expectations were (not unreasonable) high for this device.

...most of the "hype" that I run into with regards to is some subset of "It's the best thing ever. Hands down. Join forum X to kiss the creator's ... and get yourself on a list. You could have one within the next three months assuming that the dude's real job doesn't suck all of his energy up. I have four of 'em!"

The upgradeable firmware is a big deal. They've already fixed some of the initial complaints, and I assume they will be resolving more with future updates. The problem is, for the MSRP, they picked the wrong HW (perhaps artificially limiting output for safety reasons), so there is a relatively low amp limitation (2.5A it appears) along with a low watt/volt limitation (11W/5V).

My take on the eVic:

1) MSRP is silly for the quality of the HW you're receiving (threading isn't great)
2) Initial firmware felt very rushed. v1.1 is much better, but still needs a fair amount of work
3) HW wasn't designed (or SW is doing limiting) to handle the voltage/wattage/amperage that would cover everyone's needs - it's fine for the vast majority, but people running really low resistance heads and other such things aren't going to have an ideal range of output temperature (I suspect this was a safety decision, but I really wish they had allowed users to toggle an expert mode on or something to give a better range with the understanding the batteries need to be safe at those power levels)
4) Being able to update the device firmware is a really nice step forward. They added a true VW mode _after_ release. Who knows what they'll add in the future. Flip-side of this coin - just because the FW can be upgraded doesn't mean they should have rushed it out the door with unpolished FW in the first place - it left a bad impression on a lot of people. Big marketing mistake.

That said, I picked one up 7 just a tad over $50 a piece (co-op) for friends/co-workers, and with v1.1, everyone is happy. It works well enough, and can only get better - and @ $50, it's a pretty good deal. $150, I'd pass on it.

not sure if someone already mentioned...
pana imr hybrid can deal a bit more power, than the pink battery. button/nipple batteries won't fit well.
2.2 ohm atty would be where you can get the most watts (close to 11w). for many, lower than 1.5 ohm it'll start struggling, certainly not dual-coil.
1.5 x max amp output = max voltage
1.5 x 2.2 = 3.3v
1.5 x 2.5 = 3.75v
for rba, use awg 34 or thinner. awg 33 can be used but should be built at around 2.2 ohm.

I have the Vamo and eVic. The eVic does the job 90% of the time and when I really need the power, the Vamo is right there. Both units have their purpose and I just don't see any reason I'd get rid of either.

Yup yup yup!! + one.

im going to sound like a salesman right now, but the evic's upcoming 2.0 firmware update looks fantastic compared to the first release. and now according to this news update, theres possibly more battery related tuning? and color battery tubes coming etc etc. i was actually really worried that after the first few firmware updates, they would STILL do what the rest of the market likes to do and release a different hardware piece and ride on

eVic and MVR software is on going for MAC system and upgrade

This sounds like it will fix why I think my zMax seems to vape "quicker" than my eVic. "Based on the original software, we have added auto vapor mode, users can edit timeline pulsation for MVR VV/MVR VW". My suspicion is the zMax gives the coil a quick punch before settling into it's set voltage/current. The eVic seems to creep up on it. (utter conjecture, it's not like I hooked an oscope up to it....just how it feels). By being able to set the first .5 sec to a higher VW than the actual remaining duration (if I am reading that right), it would kickstart the coil.

Or I should just go to bed and stop trying to make sense.

I'd guess a fair percentage of people hanging out at any forum are fairly techy by nature. "Upgradeable firmware" is like flowers to a bee... and stuff online trends are made of.

Wow...lots of eVic hate in here.

If you need 15 watts, you're a hardcore vaper and the eVic is not for you.

I think it's frigging awesome.

The 1.2 update fixed a lot of the issues, and I assume it will get even better.
This entire thread is so 2 months ago.

I'll go more pro and con later, but for $72, I think it's great.
