So I've been vaping on and off since 2010 and have quit smoking several times with and without a PV... and I'm about two and a half months in on this round of quitting/vaping and I'm feeling kind of discouraged. I've tried (five?) different clearos and I like the size of the Vivi Nova minis but can only get one or two good puffs before the flavor is super weird (plus they leak around the top for me) and I like the flavor and hit of the CE5s but one of mine leaks HORRIBLY (I mean I lose more juice than I vape) and the others are of full of juice that I really don't like but don't hate enough to dump (and I HATE throwing away juice/money).

I've found one juice I prefer (my "all day" vape - Skuff's Riddler with menthol added, kinda fruity and sweet) but it's lost it's "yum" flavor and it's more that all the other juices I have (and I have a whole box of sampler sizes from five or six different vendors) are just kinda gross, and it's tolerable.

Part of what I love about vaping is that it's not a "habit" for me, like smoking was. It's something I take pleasure in, but I'm starting to lose that feeling. I'm worried that I won't be able to find a kit that works consistently for me, and it breaks my heart that I haven't found more than one flavor that I really -love- (and that the flavor I love is no longer "hitting the spot" because it's literally all I can vape).

So the question is... what do you do to mix it up and keep it fresh? I'm close to the Memphis vaper's group (but so, so shy) and have wanted to go to one of their meetings (and get rid of some flavors that I find GROSS like buttery nipple and every tobacco flavor I've ever tried) to see what everyone's up to, but realistically, hanging out with a bunch of strangers is something I probably won't do anytime soon.

Buck up, grab a friend you are comfortable with and drag them along with you! Once you get over the fear I'd bet you have a great time, get to try a lot of things you may not have even thought of, and may even have some new friends by the end of the day!
I wish I had something like that close to me, what an incredible opportunity! Just make sure you take a few extra drip tips with you!
I'll also suggest you look into carto tanks. I tried the Vivi, it just didn't work for me and muted the flavors too much, this may be why you aren't liking your juice as much.
I've yet to have a carto tank leak, a little harder to refill, but not bad, and no lose of flavor.
Good luck, now go have some fun!

I'd suggest carto tanks as well. They're my go-to backup for when new stuff I try doesn't work. They're not the "best" in my book, but can always be trusted to work with a certain level of satisfaction and consistency. I tried the Vivi as well, and found it to be a total PITA and the flavor wasn't even close to good enough to be worth the hassle. Honestly, I really don't see why they're so highly regarded around here, it probably has to do with how cheap they are. My experience with clearos was the same, they work great when they're working - but better have that carto tank as a backup.

I've found a few juices I really love, but I tend to find most of my stepping outside my comfort zone and trying new juices tends to usually end up in "meh, it's ok". I think it's just part of the process. I'd order some juices from fuzionvapor.com - they've become my go-to vendor. Everything they have is highly vapable and all the flavors are pretty unique. Across all my vaping friends, fuzion is the one that everyone likes most. My favorites are unicorn blood, mommy medicine, krankberry, gumby blood, purple pieman, the edge, pixy dust and mr miyagi.

Oh Man!
Sawlight, I was really starting to enjoy your answer, leading up to some serious business and then you had to go and spoil it by using the word Carto and making use of the Neutral gender.:D

FOR ME IT'S ALL ABOUT MIXING IT UP,, :) Rotating from Mod to Mod, Flavor to flavor, Atty to Atty, this way it never gets stale, as well as mixing my own juice and flavoring them to just how I like & need them to be :) as well as making your own Coil & Wicks to hit the perfect vape you like, High Quality RBA'S = WIN TOO

Sorry for the let down, I got my hand slapped last night so I'm trying to work on my political correctness and not sexually harass members as much:laugh:

Hmm, I ordered some new flavors today. I am ... not sure about going back to cartos. Last time I used one was in 2010 and they were the teeny tiny cotton-filled things that you had to "top off" constantly. They were gross. I love the convenience of the clearos I've been using, I just hate that they always leak or taste funny.

It's a whole new world now! I know exactly what you are referring to, spend a day washing them, spend an evening filling them, BLEH!! Don't miss that at all!
What I'm talking about is a carto tank, it's a carto, with holes punched in it, inserted into a tank that can hold up to 6ml of juice. They work great, vape a long time, don't mute the flavors and some of them are just downright beautiful!

I'm not into the DIY yet (I don't really have a place for it right now) but I HAVE been thinking about getting a Phoenix rebuildable atomizer. I'm a little intimidated by the idea of having to get parts to fit one another though. And the warnings on the rebuildable/customizable atomizers are, um, scary.

They're pretty awesome, I'm really enjoying mine. It takes a little while to get the hang of it, but once you do it'll outperform anything else you've tried. I haven't touched a single carto, clearo, tank, or anything else since I got mine. I'm guessing mwa102464 above feels the same way, seeing as that picture has almost every single mod adorned in an RBA of some type.

You're talking about the phoenix rebuildable?

What I really need is a vape workstation! I use my computer desk (which is actually a dining room table that's been repurposed) but there's just not enough room for all my computer crap AND vaping crap - too heavily trafficked an area!

From what I have observed is that vapors are the nicest most welcoming folks there are. Keeping in mind that vapors are a isolated (ostracized?)group & they will be very welcoming to adding another like minded person in their ranks. Just do it! If I were there I would go with you.

Aww, thanks. I have a lady friend up in Memphis that might be willing to come with me, I'll have to ask her. I'm just terrible at social situations / small talk / people in general! I turn into a gibbering fool in unstructured environments - I used to be a reporter and it was SO great because I always knew what to talk about with people - now I'm just sort of "... *stare* ... the weather ... is cold ... and your shoes ... are very nice... *stare*"

Parts ? only thing needed for a good RBA is Silica wick and Kanthal wire and your set for life and a good SS RBA will last you a lifetime as well as provide a superior vape with great flavor and massive vapor.:)

I would go for a higher quality RBA something like the ERA, Hornet, Fattyv2, over a Phoenix, these are much better,,, and dont have any worries about getting Kanthal wire or silica wick it is available all over the place, and making a simple coil is very easy to do, there are many tutorials on this on Youtube, its as simple as wrapping the Kanthal wire around the Silica wick. Wire and silica is also cheap, and using one of these RBA's wil not only save you from continually buying cartos & Atty's but will provide you with a super great tasting vape, and they will last you a lifetime, they also come in top feed or bottom fed which ever you prefer to match up with your mod of choice, they work super either way especially on Bottom feed mods like a Reo, even if you run a Ego twist the top fed is simple to drip 6-8 drops of juice in and will provide you with many vapes, well worth looking into a good quality RBA instead of continually buying cartos, and a much tastier vape as well just outstanding flavor and massive vapor, and you can make your coils to your exact ohm likingss for each juice,,,just my 2c samazon :) dont let anyone fool you that making a coil is hard to do either, its very simple to do. Just trying to help ya out some, good luck with whatever you decide samazon.

I don't have a pheonix (yet), I'm just enjoying RBA's in general. So far I have a terminator tank, AGA-T and a Reomizer (similar to an A7), and so far I'm enjoying the Reomizer on my VV Grand the most. All of them have substantially better flavor and massively better vapor than anything non-rebuildable I've tried.

I know what you mean about the workstation thing! I have an "L" desk, half is covered in monitors and computer stuff, the other half is entirely a rebuild workshop.I wouldn't call it a small desk, and I still don't feel like I have enough space for either! I'll admit though I'm pretty bad at cleaning the stuff up, I have so much silica and stainless and little bits of wire all over the place right now. And the space on my keyboard between the number keys and "F" keys is currently serving as a battery holder. Oh well.

>< I've been reading. My eyes are a little crossed. I think I might order an AGA-T+ and see where to go from there. I guess I'm going to have to buy a multimeter too. And... um.. figure out what a multimeter is. ;)

Can I even USE an AGA-T+ with an ego-C twist? Will I need to get a new battery?

I know, It's really not difficult to do when it comes down to it - I think the amount of information you end up dealing with when setting these up is more daunting than anything. It'd probably be pretty top heavy for a twist, but I'm sure it's been done. I dunno what the amp limit on those batteries is, but you could probably get it working right if you wrapped the coil with the twist in mind. If you wanna upgrade to something else, wouldn't be a bad idea to do so but I wouldn't go as far as saying it'll be impossible with your current battery.

If you get one just make sure you get some silica wick and kanthal too. Some vendors have some nice sample sizes where you can buy like 3' of the stuff for $1.50, that way you can get a bunch of different sizes to try everything out without getting stuck with 100' of useless material.

Multimeter is cake, and actually pretty useful to have around for lotsa stuff!

I'd advise against using an RBA on an EGO, those batteries are VERY finicky and don't like when you get into low resistance, they tend to not work anymore!
RBA's can be a handful when starting and having something with a protection circuit in it, which the EGO's don't, is a good thing. You will have shorts, things will change as you handle it and so on, until you get the knack for it. But that's my opinion.

I run the Hornet, ERA, & Fattyv2 on my Ego twist at times with no issues at all,,,, I would however recommend not running a resistance of less then say a 1.6-1.7 ohm made coil, simply because the mosfet connection can overheat opn Ego type Batts as with any LR Atty/carto on an Ego,, just like running a regular low resistance chinese Atty or carto the same EGO this can happen, other then this no issue at all as a regular chinese Atty/carto has the exact same coil inside of them pretty much being Nichrome wire or Kanthal and silica wick,,, I also would not recommend running ss mesh as a wick with an Ego as well,, but we where not discussing a Genesis style RBA set up only Silica.

Yeah I think I'm going to get a nicer battery (like a provari <3) before I start messing with RBAs. I'm going to experiment with some direct dripping in the next couple weeks, see if my taste buds change or my steeping helps with some of the flavors I've ordered (I must have 25 bottles and only three our four are tolerable/good!).
