I have been vaping for about ten years now. I recently bought an old school style atomizer(Genesis). It brought back a lot of memories. I went through my old vape pile that was out in a shed. I found my old Reo Grand Mini mech sqounker(2011). Lately, I have been digging into the past. Here are some pictures of old school vape products. If you have any, please post them.

Just some random pictures of things from back in the day.

A cartomizer. It's a tube filled with cotton and a coil. You put ejuice in the cotton and add a drip tip.

ProVari first regulated device(to my knowledge). You could increase the Voltage up or down.

That is actually "modern" for what it was back then. 1 full year before you started, the 901 were the ecigs to have. All this is 2012 really, not that old!

I'm still here on ECF... sort of. ;)

Yes, I had one of those. I just forgot the name of it. I talked a bit to igetcha69 the other day. He is doing well just busy. He plans to get back into doing reviews.

I was hoping someone would post an Omega. That was my first mech....retired long ago. Still have it boxed away, but it was fun for me to "play" with for a while.
Cool!! It was definitely a one of a kind mod. I guess the design wasn't popular, as I never seen any other mod with the same type of fire mechanism. Mine still works really good, but not the most efficient mod, as it has a fairly big voltage loss. Still a very cool mod though

The atomizer I bought recently was the DDP One V2. It's a high end atomizer. I tried SS Mesh wick many times in it. It works great then out of the blue it messes up. For example, I built a coil with an SS mesh wick. It was working great. I went to bed, I picked it up and vaped and it had hot spots. At that point, I decided to stop using SS Mesh wicks. Cotton technology has advanced a lot. So It does produce good flavor.

I even made some SS Mesh wicks for my drop. As stated, it works well then out of the blue it gets all messed up.

I like the looks of the ddp! I know exactly what you mean, it's like they have a mind all their own. It looks like you kind of lean to the Peter k method , as at least from the pics, the wicks don't look all that oxidized (at least not as much as I use to do). Another big hot spot issue was the lenght of wire that attached to the
Positive post. If that lenght was just a tad to long, issues. I was a big oxidizer myself, I use to oxidize and quench like 3x then do the juice saturation and light , like 3x. Im getting exited just thinking about it and may take out an old DID or ac-9! Or maybe not

Ok vape historians, was the eGrip the first AIO device?

I believe that would be Billet Box (Dec-2012, I think). @Katdarling - when did you get that Rev1?

Two more things, old but maybe interesting.

1. I always found it funny that many things were described with, "Hits like a freight train!"

2. Didn't anybody get in on the TereHammer pre-order??? ;)

Oh! SOMEBODY'S got to have the URL for that, "I got hosed at the mall" video (and I think I know who just might...).

I still have quite a bit of Boden's BD13 (Al2O3) wicks, they were a lot of fun to play with but had to be hot wrapped. ;)

One of the best I've ever used with mesh was the Origen Genesis (Origenny).

Boden were really good and remember gdeal and a few others actually shaping them like a U- shape to fit inside wells of reo attys . I still have one white wick left myself, lol. Last year I got back into gennys and bought 2, kind of up to date gennys and they worked fine, no issues in the set up , it's just I found them a bit too mellow after years of micros & rayon. With rtas and rayon and 24mg nic, I get a very intense TH compared to a genny. I also find this with any tank other then an rta. I also revisited squonking about 1.5 years ago and couldn't get the intensity like an rta. There's something about a mtl rta (perhaps the chimney ) that adds an intensity that I can't find with anything else..weird.

Who came up with squonking
Squonking - Where did that term come from ?
While squonking may seem like something new, it can be traced back to 2009 as a DIY project by a member of the E-Cigarette Forum. The project prompted a discussion on YouTube. Dubbed the JuiceBox, Carlos49 wasn't able to replicate the device commercially, and this model didn't take off, but vapers wanted to get their hands on this device. The JuiceBox paved the way for what is considered the first successful commercial squonk mod, the REO.

12531180_1100420893350899_548408444_n_large.jpg

The REO was created by another member (Robert E. O'Neil) of E-Cigarette Forum in 2010 and quickly fueled the desire for more squonk mods. These devices are still popular today for their durability and fine craftsmanship
Wasnt the term coined because when he depressed the bottle it made a sound like squonk, squonk? At least to his ears...

Probably was a cigalike. The first "mods" were homemade battery holders (ie flashlights) with a fire button and 510 connector.

One of the first mass produced mods was the AltSmoke Silver Bullet, circa 2009. It was one of the first to use an 18650 battery. Earlier mods used smaller batteries.

aw you are talking of the "blue paws" mods[there were pink ones also].flashlight modded into a apv

silver bullet was harder then hell to get ahold of,and dam spendy too

I remember all the crazy videos and methods on "the best way" to fill your cartomizers.
Personally, I never liked the (name?) spin method, always used the rubber cap that came with the cartos, filled with 1/2 way juice and pressed the carto into it.
And then there all sorts of gadgets to 'punch' them for use in tanks.

I received my first vape mail on 2/15/10....There's still a 1/2 pack of Marlboro Lights I left in my tool box that day....Cig a likes got me away from cigarettes....I joined the ECF after trolling here a couple of months...I read what I could and researched what was available....Silver and Black Bullets....a GGTS with a 901....One night here I came across a variable voltage thread....I had a copper tube mod with a guitar volume pot on the hot side controlling two Trustfire batteries so I threw in my 2 cents...That thread turned into Notcigs and the first variable voltage device the Buzz...I beta tested the Buzz...Voltage was adjusted with a small screwdriver...We developed small screens that screwed into the 510 showing voltage set....Pro Vari followed soon after but the Buzz was first...Pro Vari even took a shot at the Buzz with the no screwdriver required ad....I beta tested every product produced by Noticigs.....I owned more than my fair share of Pro Varis as well.....Today I'm rolling with a fleet of Pulse mods all running the Profile.....I have a few Freemax Mesh Pros in the rotation as well....all 3 fired by Innokin's Oceanus mods....I've smoked less that 10 cigarettes since 2/15/10 and none for years....

The Evolve/Darwin....Did Evolve not become DNA ???

Somewhere out there
How about GLV? Don't know for certain when their mod first came out, but the company has been around since 2008.

5v-and-3-7.jpg

Wanted one for quite a while when I started and never did bite the bullet to get it
I still have 2 GLV minis :) Are they still in business?
