Although the letter in this article isn't highlighting e-cigs as such,I do feel it is worth adding comments as Dr Patrick Basham does mention harm reduction in his last paragraph :-

"There are still several million British adults who continue to smoke and it’s to this group that harm-reduction products should be directed. Such reduction is, therefore, a legitimate extension of earlier initiatives to reduce the health burden of smoking."

Don't forget people that the original poster refers to President Obama's inability/unwillingness to quit cigarette smoking so there's a connection. Also, what happens in the UK will likely have ramifications in the US, not just in Europe. The tobacco and pharmaceutical industries are not continent specific.

Come on vapers, no matter where you are, you can at least click on the "recommend" link below the comments you agree with. With all of your help we could push this into the "Times" most recommended category. :) May just result in getting the media's attention.

Thanks for posting Chrissie.

It is true that what happens in one country can give support either negative or positive to the powers that be in other countries.

For me personally, after Health Canada put out their Advisory and before it was possible to get supplies here, it was from the U.K. that I brought home 1+ years supply. I was grateful for the sensible regulation there regarding availability and quality. Also for my good luck at getting them through on my return home; could've lost a good chunk of change!

I hope that somehow sensible can continue.

Good luck from across the pond.
