Hello - I'm new, started vaping 5 days ago when I received my 510 kit. So much info, so little brain (well, that's what it feels like anyhow ) I love it & am thrilled to pieces.
My atty up & died this AM with NO warning, it was working great. Measured the Ohm's, it was at about 110! Read some more & soaked it in boiled water (as per atty cleaning for Dummies). It looked pretty busy in the atty right from new but hey, what do I know? Poked around a bit with a tooth pick and pulled out lots of what looked like tiny feathers - small clusters of smooth looking fibres about 5mm, 1/4 " long. Is this a normal part of an attie? Did I totally disembowel/kill it? Is that what cooked juice looks like? Was mine made near a chicken farm in China? Can someone please advise B4 I waste more time trying to clean it? I'm terrified the same thing will happen to the (only) other one, leaving me vapourless. I was vaping a lot of VG juice.
Thanks a lot!

I can't really help you with what may be wrong with the atty, but the fibers you were pulling out are normal.

They are the wick, and they aid juice in flowing from the bridge to the coil. You haven't destroyed it, but you have turned it into a dripping atty. It probably won't work as well with a cart as it did before. But if you take out the wick and put a couple drops directly onto the atomizer, it still vapes fine. Some people vape like that all the time, and even prefer to remove the wick if they drip, since it's one less thing that can get gunked up.

There is a you tube video on removing that wick. I was tired of getting the burnt taste so I removed the wick in all of my attys and they work a lot better for dripping. You can try using a cart, and it may work fine. I think I read that you can still use carts when removing the wick, but if you remove the bridge, it is strictly for dripping. I get no more burnt taste. just make sure you know when its time to put more drops in there. I get a metallic type (dry atty) taste, and I know it is time to drip some more in there. Too much juice, just unscrew it and blow it out a few times into a napkin. Only 3 drops at a time. If you boil them and dry them out completely, 4 to 5 drops is needed the first time.

Thanks. So when you drip you get what, 4-5 puffs & then add more? If you're out do you carry bottle with you? I've been researching vaping for 2 weeks & feel like I've just scratched the surface!

Yes, it is only the surface. Hold tight and keep going. It will all get a lot easier. Don't rush yourself either. Find your answers one at a time. They all will be answered by the amazing people at ECF!

I drip 3 drops and get a good 5 or 6 puffs and carry a bottle with me. Everybody has their own style and method that they develop through trying different things out. Keep posting your questions and tricks you've discovered.

I was worried that I got something weird into my atty when I noticed those fibers you are talking about. Not to worry if you removed them, the atty will still work fine... not sure about working with filled carts but mine worked fine for dripping. However, that one (that i messed around with the fibers) died on me unexpectedly also and not really sure what happened. Some attys do just die on you from what I have read on here. If it is still under warranty you might be able to send it back.
Many people on here get a special box dedicated to their pv and supplies which I plan to do in the near future (since all my stuff is piled around the computer desk right now in a very messy sort of way). You will find what works for you.
