I have been DIY juice since I started vaping about 3 yrs ago and I'm getting a little tired of vaping fruit/candy flavor juice. I would like to find a good tobacco flavor for a change of pace. I have tried to DIY a few tobacco flavors with no luck.

I have tried Mtype Premium Tobacco (TFA), 555 Type DK Tobacco(TFA), and Virginia Fire-Cured Tobacco (SM). The Mtype and 555 smelt and tasted like soured mowed grass, no matter how long it steeped. The Vir F-cured wasn't that bad, I vaped it for a while. Then someone told me it smelt like old urine, and after thinking about it and smelling my vap, it did smell a little like that so I didn't make anymore after I ran out.

I have only found one tobacco flavor that resembled tobacco and I liked. Back when I vaped V2 E-Cigs I needed some new carts so I bought some that was flavored with ZIG-ZAG Traditional. I never bought the juice just the carts but I liked the tobacco flavor. Like allot of DIYer's I DIY mainly cause its allot cheaper than buying juice, so I don't want to buy premade tobacco juice.

I also DIY RY4 flavor, it was ok but to me there's no tobacco taste it more a carmel taste. Anyone ever vaped V2's ZIG-ZAG Traditional and cloned it, if so I would like the reciept.

Why dont you try desserts too ? I highly recommend my clone recipes for you, they are in the E-Liquid Recipes :)

Here is my tobacco recipes and flavors;

ECX = ecigexpress

Halo Tribeca Clone for you
RY4 Double (TFA) %13
Acetyl Pyrazine (TFA) %1.7
Virginia (ECX) %0.5
Steep at least 25 days.

HHV Legend (Purity) - %100 clone
French Pipe %2.7 (ECX)
Ethyl Maltol %0.3
Steep 15 days.

Tobacco Flavors that I like with their single usage ratios
Black Cigar (VZ) %0.5 - %2
Black & Mile Plus (ECX) %1.7 - %3
Vanilla for pipe (INW) %1 - %3
Turkish (TFA) %1
Western Flavor (TFA) %1
Cured Tobacco (Flavorah) %0.5 - %1
Virginia (ECX) %1 - %2

I never vape zig-zag before but looks like it is based on virginia, so I believe you can clone it easily with virginia ecx flavor since it was the best virginia I have ever vaped for me.

I haven't had any luck with TFA tobaccos. Not saying they aren't good, just I haven't liked them.

Hangsen has some excellent tobaccos. Arabic and Highway are both outstanding at 4%. I have several other Hangsen tobaccos, the only one I'm not wild about is the RY4.

Inawera also has some good stuff. All of their "For Pipe" are good. Of those, the Dark for Pipe is my favorite. I have lots of Inawera tobaccos, the only one I haven't liked so far is Black Cherry for Pipe. 2 to 5% on the Inaweras.

Super Concentrates is another brand that has some good tobaccos. Their Black and Mild is fantastic at 3%.

Lots of good tobaccos out there!

For attys that use factory coil heads, Hangsen makes the truest tobacco flavorings. I also liked Inawera's Virginia absolute coupled with their Vanilla for Pipe. There are also many different tobacco absolutes available that do a good job adding tobacco flavor to juice. There's a popular DIY thread just for tobacco flavorings Favorite tobacco flavoring discussion - Tobacco flavoring discussion only definitely worth a read.

For people using RBAs I'd recommend a NET (Naturally Extracted Tobacco), nothing else compares to it for a genuine tobacco flavor. Vaping retail NETs you'll need to re-wick/dry burn every 4ml or so, they're notoriously gunky. For ready made "cigarette" styled NETs I'd recommend Naturally-Extracted-Tobacco.com's Sun-Cured Turkish or Organic Spirit . For the DIY enthusiast, ECF has a sub-forum dedicated to DIY NET Liquid Extraction From Tobacco It's easy to do and embarrassingly inexpensive to make.

Hangsen Arabic is described as a NET. Not sure about the other Hangsens.

Years ago I read that Hangsen used a small amount of Tobacco absolute (TA) in its tobacco flavorings. If true this would "technically" make them a NET (of sorts) since TA is derived from tobacco. Might also explain why Hangsen tobacco concentrates taste more like tobacco than most others.

Thats what I'm tired of, fruits, candy or desserts, anything thats sweet. I vape several different flavors every day and I need a tobacco flavor to take a break from the sweets. Like eating sweet food all day, need a hamburger or steak to break up the sweets.

As far as I know Zig Zag is only sold thru V-2 Ecig site, its one of their flavors. So how did you find out Virginia was part of their reciept for ZZ. Are you talking about the Virginia I mentioned in post #1?

Your Halo Tribeca Clone reciept, with RY4 at 13% do you still taste the carmel? I actually use the RY4 Double (TFA), I tried 10%,15%,20% with no other flavors and none of the mixes tasted like tobacco mostly carmel.

Hangsens, looks like I'll have to try some of their bacco flavors, a few replies talking about them. Now are you posters using a Hangsens premade juice or a DIY? I don't want to by premade i want to DIY.

I'm wanting strickly tobacco flavor with "NO" sweet flavors mixed in like some have mentioned, thats what my post is about a tobacco only vap.

Is Tobacco absolute in Hangsens DIY flavors or is it only in their premade juice.

Went to the hangsen site and all I see is premade, no flavors to DIY juice.

Nearly everything mentioned in this thread is here: DIY E-Liquid Flavoring-Tobacco Flavoring

...and it's all DIY, as far as I can tell, notwithstanding the couple mentions I've never heard of.

If you only want to see Hangsen, or any other brand they carry, hover over concentrated flavoring, brands, then select a brand.

On that Hangsen Arabic, I would describe it as sweet, just FYI. BCV's descriptions are sometimes lacking in detail. I've tried most of the Hangsen and Inawera tobaccos. If you're in doubt about what's sweet, just ask.

*Edit...this is my next stop: www.Naturally-Extracted-Tobacco.com, e-liquids for electronic cigarettes

Haven't tried them yet, but all of their stuff looks amazing. I know I'll like it too much...Just waiting till I can afford to jump in with both feet.

I don't know for a fact if Hangsen adds TA to its tobacco flavorings, just remember discussing it a few years ago back in the days I sought a realistic synthetic tobacco flavoring. Of the dozens I tried Hangsen was, by far, the best I found. In the end I abandoned my search and haven't used a synthetic tobacco flavoring since, I personally prefer the taste of full blown NETs. For Hangsen DIY concentrated tobacco flavorings try: Tobacco Flavors or: Concentrated Flavoring - Brands - Hangsen - Bull City Vapor

These are concentrated flavorings used at 5 - 7% not premade juice. Find them here.

As str8vision mentioned Nets are about as close to true tobacco taste as you can get. He has an extraction method that works very well to produce Nets.

Tobacco extraction using heated Ethanol

I too have gotten away from synthetics in favor of NET's. They also work as a nice tobacco base for combining with other flavorings. Never the less Hangsen is about as close to true tobacco without going the NET route.

One thing I an wondering about. Is since the TA is extracted from tobacco leaves which are chemically treated during growth. Would those chemicals be extracted out and be in the TA liquid?

We all quit smokeing to rid out lungs from the smoke tar and 100's of bad chemicals. I don't want to start back up with any of those bad chemicals. Thats one reason I DIY, I know what goes into my juice,PG,VG,Flavor, and Nic.

Edited: After posting this I str8vision's thread Tobacco extraction using heated Ethanol, it had a link inwhich NET was studied. Most of that link is "over my head"> Nicotine Levels and Presence of Selected Tobacco-Derived Toxins in Tobacco Flavoured Electronic Cigarette Refill Liquids.

If anyone has read the report and understands it, can you explain it in lamens terms. Does extracting tobacco leaves extract tobacco's cancer causing bad chemicals and toxins?
