Okay so after throwing all my nickel in the trash where it belongs I needed a GOOD replacement for my DNA40 device's both authentic and cloned (hehehe...yes, there are cloned ones that work VERY good now) and heard about titanium...so, I needed to know what kind of titanium and it was a toss up between grade 1 and grade 2 and I went with grade 1...the reason for grade 1 is how much longer it last and keeps it's original structure in comparison to grade 2 plus grade 1 is more pure than grade 2 anyways so that's why it was my test subject. My next concern was how much resistance it was going to have especially since the only reliable sources I could find at the time had 24 gauge as the smallest available size, my experience with nickel made me believe this would make things complicated but it did NOT at all!!!!!!! I made a 4 wrap around a 2mm bit for my subtank mini and it came out to a .17 ohm flavor BEAST in my subtank mini and I am LOVING it, then I needed to try a dripper so I used a dual coil 5 wrap around a 2mm bit to make a .1 ohm coil and also loving that as well. These are both standard coils and I have not tried a micro coil yet but it is coming...I am just going to enjoy these first and just wanted to let everyone know MY results with this stuff and it is AMAZING compared to nickel...oh and temp settings are a LITTLE different as I set my subtank mini to 270 F and my dripper to 300 F and that is how it has been working best for me...here are some pics... at1.jpgat2.jpgat3.jpg

does the titanium work with the dna40 temp sensing coils? if not then i see no use comparing it to nickel wire, kanthal is fine for me and i havent had any problems with kanthal, the only positive i can see coming out of using titanium over kanthal is the durability and cost$$ effectiveness, but im guessing titanium is more expensive than kanthal. if it does effectively work with the temp sensing, is the only reason it works is below 0.2 ohm coils and titanium is low resistant material? if evolv releases some of this data saying titanium works with their boar dthen i might go order some.

It works amazing with it, here is a chart to make the comparisons from what you usually set nickel to...View attachment DNA40 Nickel Titanium sheet - Table.pdf

I found all of this information very scattered so I wanted to put it all in one place for anyone interested in an alternative to SUPER annoying nickel, in fact evolv even admits you can use this instead of nickel but claims it is too "variant" for them to use it as their "primary" wire...rubbish, this stuff is amazing!!!

Nice Invisi-h-13! I've been trying to keep up with the Ti thread and I'm considering the move myself... I think I have got the concept of working with it and it's quirks.
Rayon/Ti sounds like a winning combo.

I can promise you once you make the switch the only thing you will ask yourself is why you didn't so it sooner lol, my results are all with grade 1 so this is just my findings but some people are using grade2 so I am not sure about grade2 yet...with my results I am not really interested in it right now lol

Looking forward to giving it a shot. Where are you buying?

Ugh...hate to admit this BUT this guy I found on ebay that I was getting my 316l wire from once I found out that is what gplat was (which always made me itchy, anyone else have that with 316l wire? I think it may be allergies but whatevs) so here is the link to his wire on ebay for the Ti grade 1...Titanium Round Wire Grade One 0 50 mm 50 ft Pure Titanium | eBay The guys name is Richard out of an LA subarb and he is pretty cool about answering ANY questions, he even skyped me in the middle of the night one time to run some experiments on some wire I was getting from him one time lol

I almost got him to tell me where he is getting it from but I am sure there is a manufacturing facility somewhere to close to LA cause if you dig into it you will notice alot of people out of LA and surrounding area's seem to be the only ones to sell it in USA (from what I have found, feel free to correct me if I am wrong) I also am going to be picking up some 30 gauge I found to try some twisted builds with TC here... Titanium Laser-Weight Round Wire, 30-Ga., Soft and I have also noticed it is how they weld titanium jewelry so that may be a better place to start looking for this stuff than vaping places which is why I think so many people are having a hard time finding this stuff (at least until more people are using it lol)

Thanks! I've seen a few suppliers listed, but they seem to be bulk suppliers for industry.
There is Amazon as well...
Amazon.com : Titanium Wire Gr. 1 Pure 1.0 Mm 15 Ft. Round Wire : Other Products : Everything Else
I'm just not really sure what exactly I'm supposed to be looking for.

Yeah, that is why I bought it from four different places at once (overkill maybe...but you all should know that is how I roll by now lol) but with the ebay link I gave you I trust him the most (for now) and I am trying to find it in bulk if you wanna give up that bulk link you referred to??? (PLEASE????)

P.S.- 1mm thick wire is like a 12 gauge btw, you want a 0.5mm (24 gauge) or less (if you can find it lol) and the amazon seller is WAY over priced when you can pay less for 50 feet instead of just 15 feet

Been using tempered Ni200. Much better than annealed.
Stiff as Kanthal. Wires don't get clipped in post holes.

After all I have suffered with nickel, annealed or otherwise it can kiss it...just saying...and the resistance is just annoying in it, how do I build a billow with that crap???

Well, this one caught my attention early on... a Ti-Nickel alloy wire, med-grade... Don't know squat about it though.

Supra Alloy was another I checked but... I really don't know for sure what I'm supposed to be looking for.
Titanium Bar Stock ? Titanium Rod, Titanium Wire, Gr 1 ? 4, 7, 11, 6AL-4V ELI ? Supra Alloys
If you know, I'd be interested to hear for sure!

Yeah, not gonna lie, I know squat about either of those sites or quality
