Cape Cod polishing cloths are great. I was kinda bored the other day and decided to polish one of my ELAs. It's a bit of a departure from the usual SuperT finish, and even though I'm generally opposed to super shiny mods I really like how it turned out. I'm not sure how it would work with a Ti tube though. I know this is the Simplicity thread, but I'll post the pics here anyways :)

I have a few of the cape cod cloths left over in a pouch but they have been in there for over a year

If they're on the dry side you can revitalize them with some light mineral oil (which is what they are soaked with normally). It doesn't take much

Don't know if they'll work any better than your autosol. They're more for light scuffs/scratches. Worth a shot, though. It's what I use to polish up my GGTS and the brass accent rings on ELA

Thanks!

They are dry as a bone! Might need to order some more..

Do you think they would change the finish on the top cap?

I see pAth's photo and it looks like it did on his ELA.. The Autosol I use does not change the finish (if it does it's very minor to my eye) so that's my only concern with the cape cod.

I would never have used it even if it is, good deal for you if it is as well. I just ask you think of me first if you ever sell an ELA :)

That was my 1st thought as well but he was pretty insistent that it's not the Ti tube.

Maybe someone took a regular tube and did it up in satin?

The tube in the photo looks smooth and not ribbed so who knows.

I should have it next week and figured it was worth the $40 to see..

Cool! It should be delivered on Monday so I will let you know if it is the Ti tube..

I don't have an ELA though.. I have 2 Ti Simplicities and will scavenge a top cap and bottom button to use with the tube I got from you..

If it is the Ti tube, I will shoot you some more PP $$ (why? because that's just how I roll!)

I am going to use the cotton until Monday, then I will try the SS mesh or a few days and then some silica for a few days to see which I like the best..

I know most use SS mesh in it but I've never been a fan of the stuff, thus far at least..

It's a heavy little beast though.. That little guy weighs more than the Ti with a battery in it..

I thought a slug was a section of oxidized SS mesh laid across the base of a dripper?

View attachment 273688

its a roll of mesh cut diagonally to form a uwick.

looks like a slug. hence the name
Ahhh.. There you go!

And here I was thinking this whole time the one I posted a photo of was 'the slug'.

That is what I am planning on doing Monday when I get the SS mesh.. Didn't know it was called the slug though.

Thanks!

I was digging through my vape box and found a few of the pre-made SS mesh wicks that must have came with my Z-Atty.

Slid a paperclip in and bent it with minimal kinks in the mesh. Plopped it on and walla!

It's not as flexible as my plan to cut and roll on the diagonal but it's vaping pretty darn good at the moment.

I have 2 12x12 sheets of 400x400 mesh scheduled for delivery tomorrow so I will build me a 'real' slug in the morning :)
