Well one thing to recognize is that if you're hanging out on this forum you're part of a subculture and likely a hobbyist when it comes to vaping. In our bubble, we are each moving vertically (upgrading, upgrading) or laterally (just one more mod!). There are a lot of vapers that aren't in this bubble. For them, an ego kit and a few clearos are keeping them from smoking and that's good enough for them.

I used to manage a bicycle shop back in the day and about 80% of my customers just needed a $200-$500 bicycle. It was only 20% that would keep returning either upgrading (I need a better and better mountain bike) or expanding (I have a mountain bike now I need a road bike, cyclocross, single-speed, ton of accessories etc.). In the bubble, it's easy to believe that it's normal to own a $4500 mountain bike or 7 different bicycles.

I'm not saying the OP is wrong by any means, but it's important to put ex post facto arguments about the economic efficiency of buying into top-of-the-range gear into perspective for those outside the subculture.

uhhhhhhhhhh yeah, this.

THEY MAKE 4500 DOLLAR BICYCLES???????????????

You get what you pay for, honestly. That may just be my opinion but it was formed through experience. If you don't regret the money spent then it is more than worth every penny.

Yes and no
my cloned vivi nova worked 200% better than the original nova
my IGO-l flawless
reviews are great when purchasing anything but common sense goes a long way and you only get it from vaping experience
so as noob buy high then low and slow or not lol

My only regret as far as having a taste for the finer things in life is that I am unable to afford exceptional quality in every category. Vaping is relatively inexpensive as compared to cars, houses, furniture, and many other things. I can't afford a perfect 1957 Cadillac, but I can afford a Provari and Phiniac tanks. These fit my needs and desires wonderfully, and I'm still money ahead compared to what I would have spent smoking.

I think there's a lot of *smart* vapers out there, and some of them are spending $200+ and some are happily vaping away for $30.

Intelligence has little to do with the economics of vaping---cuz a *smart* vaper finds their own individual sweet spot, wherever that may be, and that spot is whatever keeps them from smoking, and off the stinkies.

The State of Confusion
Vaping is an individual thing...

Some are perfectly happy with Ego', various types of mechs., it's all personal...I used PS mechs solely for almost 4 years, now I am use a VV mod with a tank, and or a RBA...it's personal preference...really not just economics...

Some like mechs, some BF', some VV or whatever...to each your own...Vape up and enjoy!

So close to getting offended, but then I read your post. Haha. There is a quality difference, the vapor production between price points is very noticeable.

That argument no longer holds water.

Owners of originals and certain current clones have done side by side comparisons, possibly in a fair effort to debunk, and surprisingly have given near to identical function reviews.

Sorry, just stating what has transpired lately.

This would place certain combinations in a $70 price range with those costing near $400.
Then again, If you put a cheap E-liquid in there all bets are off:laugh:

Surely for mechanical mods, but it doesn't appear to me like the more intricate RBAs have been cloned with the same level of success for a low price. The most successful clones of i.e the Kayfun Lite doesn't save you a whole lot of money.

Not arguing for the sake of arguing. I don't know all about every clone out there. And of course simpler designs like drippers are much easier to clone for a very low price. :)

First of all, nice thread title. I'm sure it got a ton of people to look. Second, in the world of vaping you really do get what you pay for. With the exception of mall kiosks. They are all a ripoff. Every time I go to my local B&M I see the guys behind the counter vaping away like crazy. They all have the $200.00 and up units. A couple of the guys even let me try thier rigs and they are wayyyyyyyy better than mine. I have a little k200 that I got a few weeks ago. It's good, but not near as good as theirs. But it was only $70.00 for the whole kit with everything I needed at the time. I don't really have any complaints about it, but I know there are better units out there, they just cost a lot more.

dont worry the china clone machine will implode sooner or later, constantly feeding on their own as well as others it cant last.
heck even the itaste 134 is copied, cant wait to see innokins reaction to that one.

if you dont have the cash nothing wrong with a clone, because we cant deny these past few months they are getting better/ I just feel better supporting the actual designers.

LOL- and that is one Hideous Mechanical copy of an APV. I think it was more for the MOV crowd - Gatling Gun

Oh, my reference was to a limited few well built Mechanical and so far, 2-3 rather successful RBA Tanks.

Personally, I every much enjoy hours of vaping on an eVic with T3-mini's I have tweaked(like working with RBA's)
Vapor production is very satisfactory.
Flavor and warmth is right where I want it.
But again, it is all in what satisfies your needs and desires. The game may change again once my Ithaka arrives. :)
