I have been reading a lot about e cigs lately, mostly on ECF. I am pretty new at vaping and it seems as if (as in most vaping subjects) there are varying opinions on whether an atty should gurgle or not gurgle when it is vaped. What is your opinion? Mine usually gurgles and when it doesn't I feel it is low on juice. I have flooded only one in the week and a half I have been vaping, other than that no problems. Oh yeah, one more thing, no analogs since 9:00AM, 11/12/11. I can actually smell the air, good or bad lol. I have some major cleaning to do around the house it seems.

Welcome to vaping and ECF ,usually atty's do gurgle a little when a few too many drops are put in , but you sound like you already know what to do if you flood it . Another thing you might try . I put a little wicking material (aprox. an inch long) down inside the atty around the coil /Bridge . It allows more drops , and very rarely gurgles at all . Give it a try . Works for me .

When you say wicking material do you mean cart filler?

Hiss good
Crackle good
Sizzle good
Gurgle not so good - often means flooded (though if it gurgles and still gets nice and warm and vaporizing fine then it's OK)

Sounds like popcorn, so I guess that's a crackle. When it gets quiet I add some juice. I have not burnt anything yet. Knock on wood.

IMO - attys shouldn't make noise like that. Gurgling is too much juice. Too much juice will kill an atty just like keeping it too dry. The coil will become stressed and burn out with flooding. If one of my attys start to gurgle I know I have too much juice in it and blow it out. Far as crackling and hissing, none of my atties (aside from first couple vapes when new) nor my rebuildable attys make noise. If they made noise I wouldn't even use them. I had a couple 901's once that hissed because of connection and poor air holes so I pitched them.

The crackling(poping type noise) will usually stop once you break the atty in. Its the same with cartos. My Ressurectors pop and crackle when they are new but after a refill or two it settles down.

The hissing is fine when your using it, but if you hear a slight little hiss right AFTER you let go of the button, then that normally means the atty is getting dry and needs more juice.

When I was using 510 attys they gurgled when overfilled but tasted just great - the more gurgling the better. On the other hand when I switched to cartos I noticed that when they gurgled the taste disappeared, and I had to blow out the excess before using. So it depends on the device and the construction of the boiler I guess.

Thank you all for the info. After further study I believe the problem is in my technique. In my zeal to get the ultimate (nuclear) blast of nic, I believe I have been pulling to hard on the pv. I thought I had the technique down, slow long pull into the mouth and then inhale but evidently I am not as far along as I thought lol. I have found there is a happy spot just before the gurgle when using a slightly softer pull. The taste and vapor is much better also. Your answers to my op were what led me to this conclusion. Thanks again all. Now I need to discover the indicator for the atty getting dry so I do not burn one up. Yeah, I know it is probably simple, everything is simple if you know how to do it but hay I am new to all this lol. I was using the absence of the gurgle as an indicator "Wrong". The good thing is I have not burnt any atty,s yet. I have been filling my ego mega carts to the max and when I cleaned them there was tons of juice just sitting in the filler not being used. The filler at the atty end was almost dry and at the tip end to the middle was mega saturated. I have started putting about (5) to (10) drops in at a time instead of filling it up which seems kind of bas akwards considering I am using a mega cart. I guess I am at the first bend in that learning curve I have heard about lol. I mainly wrote all this out to help any newcomers like me that may benefit from my experiences but also I am definitely open for suggestion.

vaprhed - Good info, well thought out, and great conclusion. I kinda went through that process as well, still learning, with the kind help of the folks here.

Thank you for posting your experience. It just might be what gets someone else through the learning bumps and lumps.

Your welcome and thank you for the input alanselo.
