I use my mech mods at 1.8 ohms. I have no desire to subohm. My reason to use them was for the looks and not having to worry about the electronics failing. Use good quality batteries and be aware of the safety hazards.

hey thanks for reply,i work outdoors in the construction world and 1 of my concerns is the electronics(work in all weather) i to have no desire to sub ohm thats why i was feeling a little disappointed if thats was the main reason behind mechs again ty

Personally find above .7 weak and way to cool of a vape for me.

as far as danger, its not as scary as it sounds. buy some sony vtc4 or 5 battereis and a multimeter. as long as your build doesnt have a short you will be fine if you stay around .25 and up. My favorite builds are .4-.7 depending on the style I make.

Lots of videos to show you how to rebuild and use the multimeter and online ohms law calculators that will tell you how many amps your atty is drawing from the battery.

I agree with klynnn. A 1.8 to 2.0 ohm coil does well, and more battery friendly. You can still use RBAs built for dual coils for single. Just tighten down the screw to the post you are not using. Now, the thing about mechanical mods, is that there is no protection between the mod and battery. You have to put your atomizer (store bought or RBA) on an ohm meter before putting it on a mechanical. Honestly, stick with what you have. It isn't the mod so much, it is your topper. What kind of topper are you using?

You have a Provari! Just turn up the voltage one notch. The Provari seems to have a cult following on this forum. Stick with it.

my mother taught me to stay away from cults...lol....ha ha ha just kidding ..friend of mine had one and the construction and heft of it convinced me it could handle my clumsy ways...so far proven to be def what i needed!!!! ..(i seem to be a cluts in my wifes words!!!!lol)

I got into RDAs but the ProVari did not like them much so I got a mech. The ProVari needs to go back for a board swap or I'd use it more. Still the mech, with a sub-ohm build, keeps me satisfied. Kinda miss the ProVari's battery life though. I gotta send it back to ProVape soon then try it again with a 1.8 ohm build I figured out recently, bet I can get better than eight hours of continual use if I do.

sorry to be such a noob but why a board swap...is it a newer provari or an older(just recently bought mine thats why i ask)...for me right now i m trying to keep away from sub ohms untill i learn more on all aspects of this !!!!

I drive a truck so when my ProVari hits the ground it's always concrete, tarmac or tile over concrete. Does not help that I keep it in my shirt pocket so that when I bend over to grab something it slides out and onto the ground.

Yeah it's a version one with an 18650 extension which could be another reason why it hates falling so much. Still works okay and the voltage output is right on the money it just that it does not give correct remaining battery voltage and has eaten one IMR bat. This will be the second time I sent it in for a fix and of course it's been out of warranty for a couple of years.

Note to self: When you get it back this time turn it off and put it in your pants pocket when your not using it.

They did not mention if they put a version two board in it the first time I sent it on for lovin from Ma ProVape, so I have to assume that it was a replacement version one board. I tried to sub-ohm on it in ignorance a couple of years back and the protection built into the ProVari will keep it from firing anything below like 1.2ohms. Totally safe to try but you'll just get an E2 notice.
