I had never heard of this before receiving this e-mail. Wonder why the press didn’t report it?

This is the "TEAR DROP" made and installed by the Russians to honor those who died in 9 11 and a statement against terrorism. It is very impressive. The tear drop is lined up with the Statue of Liberty ...

Gift from the people of Russia ......."Monument to the struggle against world terrorism, artist Zurab Tesereteii"

....it is an impressive memorial and statement against terrorism.

The walkway is made of stones.

Names of the persons killed on 9 11 are inscribed on the base. The base like the Vietnam Memorial wall. It was a cold and windy day but well worth the drive to see. It is down in the shipping yards across from "The Lady".

We will never forget........ Di .......:(

Dumb American that I am, I knew nothing about this. The sentiment is beautiful. The thought is immense. I love this. I will now have to go visit this monument.

I am also very angry at the press for not giving this better coverage. I, too, will never forget. The mixture of emotions I feel remembering that day is still overwhelming. I have been to Shranksville PA where flight 93 came down. Some day real soon, I will go to Ground Zero - still a little too emotional for my NY friend that I would want to go there with.

I had never heard of this, not that that means much. Warning...rant ahead.

Yep, Nicowolf, us stupid Americans (me included) and our worthless news media are pathetic. Every damn news program lets us know about American Idol (WHO CARES), the latest sport or Hollywood stars gossip, the freakin "octomom" update...

Not all stories can get deserving coverage, but please. The crap us Americans think or are told to be important.

Wednesday is April Fools day, wonder what will show up?

this is not a hoax
it is posted because when my american client sent it
to me, I was touched by it and the sentiment behind it.

I knew that if he did not know about it,
then many of you wouldn't also,

so here is the news print.....

June 2007 article in the New Yorker also discusses the memorial:
France gave us the Statue of Liberty. Now Russia has given us "To the Struggle Against World Terrorism," another XXL, in-a-class-of-its-own monument. If you have not seen it, that may be because you haven’t recently approached New York City by ship. For those coming in from the Atlantic, through the Narrows, the Russian gift now heaves into view well before Lady Liberty. That is intentional, according to Zurab Tsereteli, the Moscow-based sculptor who created the monument. "To the Struggle Against World Terrorism" stands at the end of a long, man-made peninsula in Bayonne, New Jersey, and it looks from a distance like a giant tea biscuit. As you get closer, however, you will begin to make out an immense, stainless-steel teardrop—the Tear of Grief—hanging in a jagged crack that runs down the middle of the main slab.

Thanks very much for sharing this, quite touching.

Yes, the US media is past pathetic and worse. They seem to feel that anything good happens it isn't important and neither are actual facts or truth. God forbid they might give us good information to base important decisions on {spit}.

A Quote I found that seems quite accurate:

"Learning about the U.S. from the popular media is like learning about plumbing by sitting in a cesspool." -- Michael Phelps

The LSM (Lame Stream Media) is a cesspool...

Thank you for posting about this, Di. Like others here, I had never heard about it. Yet another reason I hate the media here. They'll run stories about how you can save money at the grocery store by clipping coupons and stacking those coupons with sale prices (i've seen that story at least three times on two different channels), but cant be bothered with giving us real news.

Always watching the news... hoping for some 'good news' and had never heard of this! Thanks for posting about this Di :) What a beautiful memorial to those lost on 9/11. I'm on the west coast, and will probably never make it to the east coast... but if that chance does happen... I'll look forward to seeing this memorial... as well as our head lady of liberty! :D

I am a retired NYPD Police Officer and on 9-11 I was there when it all went down. I lost many co-workers that day some of which I knew personally. The after math in the months to come after that was just mentally draining and I needed to go to counseling. I did not go home for 3 months from that day on constantly working around the clock 16-18 hour shifts. The emotional trauma I suffered and kept bottled up inside so that I would be able to "do my job" took a big toll on me that to this day, I can not watch a 9-11 video or pictures.

Today I dedicate myself training private security in counter-terrorism measures.

I live in NY and never knew about the memorial by the statue. This is indeed a blessing and I will make it a point to go out there and see this memorial for myself this summer.

Thank you for the information. It does mean alot.
