I'd like to point out that Shiryo's first post referred the reader to his signature, which shows "Analog free for 20 days" and "83 analogs avoided." Perhaps that's why I didn't understand what all the debating was about, because 2 seconds of mental math told me how much he smoked per day, thus justifying his post. :toast:

Not that he needs to "justify his post". Simply giving a more accurate description of his smoking level would have put it in context. Enough people misinterpreted his term "light smoker" to demonstrate there was a fundamental misunderstanding. Anyway, the debate wasn't strictly about how much he smoked. It was about the general "Attention all newbies, your search is over" tone of the review.

I would hazard a guess that the vast majority of newbs who have gotten to the point where e-cigs seem like an attractive alternative are way over 4/5 cigs a day. Most of them probably don't pay much attn. to the signature, put 2+2 together and realize that he was a borderline smoker in the first place.

Frankly, I wouldn't even pay much attention to the recommendation of someone who quit a 4-5 cig/day "habit", especially after only 20 days and having ever only really used one PV. I know people who smoke 4-5 cigs a day for months and just casually and effortlessly quit for weeks or months, then repeat the cycle, without a second thought of quitting or not quitting. They're called "casual" or "social" smokers. My sister is one and she's done this for years. I could never understand it, but there ya go.

Asking my sister for advice on the best device to quit smoking would be kinda' like asking a vegetarian for his recommendation on the best BBQ rib recipe.

I vape just because I like to vape, quitting analogs was just a upside to it. But I do also second you on your word about taking in more nicotine than when I used to smoke analogs. I vape 24/7, well minus sleep, but otherwise I never really put down the Volt throughout the day.... It just tastes too good. I'm even thinking of stepping up to 18mg because I hardly get any feeling out of 12mg liquids.

Anyways... Where does the thread go from here?

Don't step up to 18mg right away. The Volt can be a nice on the go device for you, but wait until you have your lavatube perhaps, bump up your standard res attys to 4-4.5 volts and give the 12mg another vape. You want to go down in nicotine content, not up :)

Man, that's crazytalk. You don't want to be more addicted to nic. Go for more flavor, vapor, warmth or something, not more nic. Add 3-5% PGA to your juice for a little more throat hit. Try some 4.5-5.5V vaping when you get the Lavatube. I'm doing 24mg now and I'm gonna try to taper down. Ideally, if nic gets taxed too much, my couple liters of 100mg nic juice will last me the rest of my life, or at least until I can hook up with a Chinese smuggling ring. LOL

Lets not jinx it guys!

As for nicotine strength, I'm not a huge fan of throat hit coming from menthol light analogs. I just went for the feel of the buzz analogs gave you. According to my friends I was pretty "sensitive" to analogs as I would have to take a seat for about 5 minutes sometimes when smoking my first analog of the day and doing it faster than average (~3 mins). I just really liked the spinning and lightheaded feeling I had. I get it every other day or so with vaping, i'm noticing if I vape like I did with analogs (~5 draws with 1hr+ between sittings) i'll get a really good buzz on it.

(Gosh that all sounded like a druggie.....)

Wait for your lavatube. I'm pretty sure you'll get the buzz you're looking for at 5v or so. I haven't experienced a nicotine buzz like that ever since I first started vaping. And a few months after that when I decided to try 36mg flavorless juice just for fun. I almost passed out. A lot of us don't experience a nicotine buzz after vaping for so long though.

When I first went from low res 3.7v to standard res 6v, I felt a little kick, so I'm sure you'll find your bread n butter between 4-6v.
