Assume you have started vaping with the intent to quit smoking and save money. You have finally reached your goal of Zero nicotine and addiction is now out the window. Now that vaping is a Habit (that you greatly enjoy) do you stick with the original plan and quit all together, throwing out your gear or do you keep on vaping?

Keep in mind that realistically, we know very little about the effects of vaping on our bodies especially long term effects due to insufficient studies being completed...yet

What would you do?

No wrong answers here cause I have no clue what I would do...

PG and nic have been studied pretty intensely on their own. Someone will correct me if I wrong; but I don't think VG has been studied as much as the other two but I'm confident all three are safe and are vastly better than smoking. I think the main unknown at this point is the flavor ingredients. They have been FDA approved for consumption but not for inhalation.

There's actually a study about to start that will dealing with the flavor aspect. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/media-general-news/517858-donate-dr-farsalinos-new-study.html They were going to test 100 different liquids from various venders and flavors, but since they have surpassed their donation goal by quite a bit they might be testing 200 or more.

I started at 32 and have worked my way down to 18. I started off with the intention of getting to zero and then quitting but in all honesty I like it and may just continue to vape. I've also started thinking I'll get down to 4mg and leave my nic at that level. After doing some research I don't feel I need to cut nic completely out of my life as it alone is not carcinogenic and some studies have even shown that it's beneficial in some diseases such as Alzheimer's. My views have changed drastically on this topic since when I first started vaping.

What is keeping you from stopping to vape? Can't you stop and still keep your gear and juices just in case you feel the need for either smoking or vaping?

Having your gear available doesn't affect you in any way. If after weeks/months of not vaping you don't use it, then pay it forward to someone you know who smokes and wants to quit.

i would keep vaping knowing that even PG is used in asthma meds. they have done long studies and if you are using regulated liquids and such you are ok. BUT on the other hand we all know inhaling anything but oxygen is bad for you. so its not really good but not really going to kill you either

That's interesting. I didn't know that PG is already being used as an inhalent. Good to know. I would have expected PG to be the more questionable ingredient. Learn something every day.

I'm new to all this (and thrilled to have not smoked since New Years Eve). But, like you said the research is sketchy. Seems to me that a lot of folks on here have made vaping a pretty serious past-time, and experience tells me that most things done to excess have consequences. We'll all find out, I guess.

Anyway, if I thought I could walk away from it, or from anything that I'm addicted to, I would.

Whatever you decide I would not throw away the gear. Either keep it in case you later on decide to use it or give it to a friend who maybe could use it.

My husband used to joke that one of his girlfriends (before me, of course) was allergic to nitrogen. It made her goofy. I met her, I think he was right.

Oh, the original question... I think it's up to each person. I don't know what I'd do. I'm down to 6 mg/ml, and I had sort of decided to stop at 12. That's before I got into rebuilding, and I think those pack more of a punch. I don't know if I'll get down to 0. If i do, I guess I'll decide then.

I believe I would keep vaping. I like the feel and the vapor itself. I guess it is up to the person and their personal preferences. I am not worried about the nicotine as much as the gunk that is in the cigarettes I used to smoke. Nicotine is no more of a health risk than caffeine or energy drinks that everyone uses today. My goal was to quit smoking (check), live a healthier life (check), have the breath to keep up with my kids and job (check), be able to say that I no longer am a smoker(check).....I'm sure there are more that I will find but for right now, I'm pretty stoked (check)! I hope you find what makes you happy and if you are looking for someone to donate that equipment to.......hello! :)
