Hi people,

Excellent, informative forum you have going here keep up the good work!!

Now me being one of those lazy people that cant be bothered looking through reams of threads i thought i would be one of them "annoying noobs" and start a thread anyway..

So after 2 months of vaping and spending a stupid amount on different units i've decided that im just gonna progress to the top end to save myself money in the long run ..

So far we have had disposables, elites, skycigs, Totally Wicked IPCC, Tornado tank , NovaTank now onto 1000mah Pass through with 6ml nova tank at 1.8 ohm (as you can see its progressively getting better) but now im contemplating a VV. Ive been looking at Provari, E-Vic, Vari Volt or Vape Pro ( bit of a totally wicked fan boy)...I dont want to get one then realise ive missed out by a few quid on that elusive perfect vape....

Any info or advice would be much appreciated...Oh and what in the .......... is an odyssey tank kit  5year Warranty ????

Like you, I took forever to get around to VV. You certainly should try it. The ability to make voltage and or wattage adjustments IS really a big improvement. It's not a gimmick.

As to what to get, I guess that will just come down to budget concerns, form factor, durability and quality of build issues. The pro vari is well regarded as a high end pricey unit. The others have a following as well.

For me, I like box mods so I've got an itouch and a vv gripper. Both of these are relatively cheaper type mods. I've also got a few Ego twists.

All of these can give you a good VV experience, it's just finding the right one to suit your needs. The twists are $25. They work well. If you are just wanting to try it, go that route. If you are in it for the long haul a pro vari might be for you.

You won't go wrong with about any VV battery. I have been looking at provari and vamo
I have an ego twist and love it. I started with an ego 510 a couple of years ago
and then dropped it asi didn't like it that much.

Now I have been using ego twist with mini novas and love it. I have been a dedicated vapor for 3 weeks now.
I can't vouche for other vv's right now. But having the ability to regulate the temperatures of juice is a huge plus for taste
I am also looking at the e-Vic (I think that's it). I know I will be upgrading soon to something similar of what you are looking at

So I recommend to keep looking, you won't be disappointed in a vv battery.

Sent from my Win7 phone.

Alot of people like VV and I do plan on getting one for when not using my rebuildables, but if you want to get into rbas like genesis atomizers I would suggest a good mechanical over a vv/vw. While vv is great for somethings if you get into low ohm coils on rbas they won't work.

So it boils down to what you want and what you want to try.

Thanks for the reply ....Budget is pretty much whatever it costs i have been looking at twists and i was very close to buying one but then i thought if i get one i will only end up upgrading the next week so therefore spending more money for it to sit in the draw (a man only needs so many spares)..... i have seen good reports of the provari are they all pretty much the same as many companies rebrand as there own?

The only place you can get a Pro Vari new is from the Pro Vape website. That's to the best of my knowledge anyway. They might have a UK affiliate or something. Not sure.

They are sometimes sold in the classifieds here used but they retain their value so the price isn't going to drop much.

VV is nice. Very nice. Liquids aren't all the same and it makes a difference being able to adjust the voltage. A Twist or Spinner is a good way to try VV without spending as much money as the advanced systems.

I keep pining over a Vamo or Groove but my checking account took out a restraining order...

+1 THIS!

I followed the same progression... cig-a-likes, egos, then finally my first VV (Vision Spinner, like eGo Twist) THEN VV/VW (Vamo V2) and now I'm back to raw voltage with a pure mechanical mod. Why? As I began exploring different battery technology I started exploring different *attachment* technology as well and that eventually put me smack dab in the world of RBAs, RDAs, kanthal and various wicks. As NancyR said RBAs are perhaps best at home on top of a pure mechanical. I keep my Spinner and Vamo for clearos and vivi novas and the like though, especially nice for going to work, long drives, etc. At home (or my favorite pub!) it's a mech and an RBA that goes along for the ride ;)

EDIT: And for the record, while I am on a budget it's probably a bit higher number than most new vapers think about. I *could* afford a Provari... it costs less than what I was spending on a month's worth of cigarettes! I almost bought one. Now that I have mechs to vape? I am VERY glad I waited.

Currently everything I have is either pure mechanical or unregulated, the single unregulated I have that is not mechanical is my 26650 BAM and I love it, who needs regulated when you have that big of battery. The closest to a non rebuildable I have at this point is one of the pro tanks, but even that I rebuild the heads for lol

One Sig #8 in my hand (when I'm not typing) and a #19 on pre-order! Two AGA-T2s, an Igo-L, a Smok RDA, and a handful of various Phoenix clones. I habitually rewick *everything* now, at least if it comes apart... even $2 chinese stardust clones! If it doesn't come apart far enough to rewick/coil I don't buy it. :D

OH, I loved my Vamo... until I got my first mech. I'll keep it as a backup and hey, it's handy for quickly testing batteries and coils (a vamo will read even coils that are too low for it to fire!) So... it's a $40 multimeter that I can vape out of too if I need to. A Provari would now be getting the exact same use, in my hands.

I have a lot of genesis atties and use them everyday with VV and VW I guess I just don't understand this sub ohm crazy

I didn't either until I tried it. On my first AGA-T2 1.1 ohms is spot on perfect. It played nicely at higher ohms on my VV/VW devices but nothing like it does on a pure mech. Super low resistance I'm not too sure about. I'm having problems getting anything below about 0.9 to work the way I want.

For me the single most important advantage with VV is full voltage regulation. Because VV includes a voltage boost circuit it can provide whatever voltage you choose reliably even if the battery voltage falls as low as 3.2V. The second most valuable advantage is variable voltage itself, which allows you to vary the vapor warmth without changing resistance of the atomizing devise.

State of the art is VV/VW. I like the convenience of variable power (variable wattage). I'm getting that from the Sigelei Zmax V3 Telescopic (flat top).
