Too good to be true?

I just started vaping a couple of weeks ago and quit smoking on the spot. Previous to that, I lurked in the forums to become informed. As most people, my first awareness about electronic cigarettes amounted to rare sightings of e-cigs that resemble cigarettes. I decided to quit and I was looking for tools which would help to accomplish it, having attempted a couple of times before and having gone back. I began my research and came accross this forum. I became more curious. I also became aware of all the new "vaping" culture emerging, including its own jargon. The information was overwhelming, needless to say. I wanted to see what the inhalation with an e-cig was like. I stopped by a mall and took a drag. I knew the products offered at kiosk were of inferior quality and overpriced, yet, upon inhaling I could immediately visualize supplanting my cigarettes with e-cigs. The drags I took made me cough, although I am a long time smoker; I also felt the nicotine kick. The flavor was mediocre, but by now I knew the endless variety available online. After spending days researching this forum and the many vendor sites mentioned within, I ordered my KGO from Hoosier's. I waited anxiously for it to arrive. I also ordered some cappuccino from Backwoods Brew. I vaped for the first time...and smoked for the last time. That simple. No pangs or cumpulsion to smoke cigarettes again. My last pack of cigarettes, half-full, sat abandoned and forgotten on the table.

I continued to do research. It just simply sounds too good to be true. Deriving the pleasure and fix of smoking without its harm. I read all the articles I could find and learned about how few actual (serious) scientific studies have been carried out. Still, all the information I could gather did not show any serious harm in the act of vaping. I still wish there would be more information and hope that further studies are done soon. All the same, I believe that personal vaporizers cannot possibly be as harmful as cigarettes.

I want to thank the people on these forums for all the information they provide. So far, replacing cigarettes has proven a blessing. I continue to recommend it to those I know.

Welcome to ECF arcturus. Yes, for many including myself it is just that easy. If you do enough research you'll also find that there are many groups, companies and organizations who oppose vaping and PVs with a passion. Some who claim to be looking out for the publics heath as a matter of fact. Can ya imagine why . . .

I worry sometimes...I find the reason that has kept me going so far has been the need to perfect my personal vape. Always on the look out for the next best thing, the next one-up and it is this constant process of curiosity, research, saving money, purchasing, waiting for the mailman, trying it out, and being happy for a little while, until I find something else that I'm curious about to improve to the next step. I feel that this cycle keeps me going. With cigz, I bought my first pack, and no matter how hard I tried to sample other brands, I was stuck on belmonts from the first day to the last. It was just a no-brainer. Anyways, my worry is, what happens if one day, I just run out of curiosity?

Don't get me wrong, there is still SO MUCH I want to learn about, DIY, dripping, tanks, clearomizers, rebuildable atties, box mods, personal mods, E-pipes, juice vendours, menthol, the eclipse, high voltage, low resistance, high resistance...I still have so much to explore...but still a journey implies a destination...

Until you get to the destination, I suggest you enjoy the ride :)

I too am new, got my ego t and a day later was off the analogs. I have had the urge to get a pack though. I have bought 6 bottles of juice and only 1 (blueberry) does the trick and that flavour is getting old. All that said, I am still optimistic.

As far as e-cigs being too good to be true, the amount of hole in the wall vendors, knock off or low quality suppliers, the myriad of different products, the fact that it's hard sometimes to get 1 answer per question coupled with the promise of these products had my scam alarm ringing full blast. Against my usual judgement I went for it and am happy that I did.

I have always totally believed that if it sounded to good to be true, just run. I am so pleased that I didn't run away from this. My analog days are behind me and I have burned that bridge. Who would have thought it could be so easy. For all of you that are reading this and still have doubts. All I can say is, If you really want to break that analog addiction/habit, you can do it.

The ease (or lack thereof) of the transition will, of course, vary from one person to another. I really wanted to get off of the analogs, so once I got hooked up with some good equipment and juice, I found it easy too.

For my wife, ANY change is much more difficult than it is for me. I don't think she is certain yet that she wants to leave the analogs behind, and it may take her a bit longer, with a bit more frustration.
