Thanks for the replies. I edited the OP to include more details. I remember reading somewhere that the harshness / "throatiness" can be altered by varying the PG-VG ratio; is this true?

No, that alters the viscosity of the juice. Harshness can come from nicotine content and flavor.

Or leaving a bottle in your hot car for a couple months.

Also, with a cartridge/atty system, you may not be getting good juice transfer to the atty.

I used this type of head for a short while. I didn't like it.

Ok, the E roll system is an atomizer/cartridge system. Hmmmmm. Think about how much $$ you spent on that system, with it's 90mah battery, and compare to this:

COMPLETE E-POWER NOVA KIT and 30ml juice (Free priority shipping)

$57, 1000mah batteries, charger, juice mod, and two nova heads.....

Thanks for the suggestion, but I really don't see how thinking about that is going to help solve my problem! Lol.

I don't think my problem is due to the nicotine content (because 11 mg/ml is not that high), so it might be due to the flavor. I guess I should experiment with different flavors.

Also, you're saying that the only purpose of altering the PG / VG ratio is to alter the viscosity. But what's the purpose of altering the viscosity?

Many of us believe PG is a throat irritant. Some also find they have a sensitivity to PG and experience a harsh throat. I am now vaping 2 mg (down from 36 mg) and for more TH had to adjust my PG/VG ratio to 85/ 15 PG/ VG. Since adjusting the PG/ VG ratio I now have TH although I believe it's throat irritant.

Juice Components
Flavoring usually about 15%- could be higher or lower depending on the flavor used.
PG enhances flavor, TH and lung hit- water like
VG= vapor and can mute flavor- thick
Nicotine- TH, lung hit and our need for nicotine. The MOST important ingredient in regards to TH and lung hit.
Standards in the industry are 80/ 20 or 70/ 30 PG/ VG.

Thanks! I might try increasing the VG percentage at some point.

Interestingly, I feel the throatiness not when I inhale the vapor, but when I exhale it.

It could if your problem is the atty drying out due to poor juice transfer from the cartridge. There is a reason why very few experienced vapers use this type of head. The reason is, because it sucks.

Also, I started out with a system that size. I found that very small batteries suck, because they are constantly going dead.

I recommend the CCV E-power system to new vapers because it's cheap, powerful and reliable. I have no interest in CCV whatsoever.

True. You might want to try out a couple other vendors. Juice is very subjective. I get my juice from smokeforpennys.com, but some folks might not like theirs for one reason or another. I can't tell you what YOU are going to like or not like.

Juice viscosity plays a role in how fast the juice wicks into the atomizer/cartomizer.
