Hi happy vapors,

I'm not a smoker, I mean I don't smoke every day, I just smoke weekends after drinks. Even that's not something happening every weekend.
Now that I accidentally found out about ecigs I don't see any reason not to get one, but the problem is there are too many models and too much information to process just to get the first one.

Consider this, if I buy a pack of cigarette it's $15 (here in australia) and it lasts for a month. so for the cost of a starter kit I can pay for 4 months, even maybe 6 considering there are times that I don't smoke for a month or two.

So spending a $60-$80 just to find I got the wrong e-cig doesn't feel right.

Therefor I'm looking for help to get the right (or close to right) starter kit or device at the first time.

I read a lot of posts here for the past week (including the 6 parts introduction here on ECF) and I came to the conclusion that I very much like to try different flavours and particularly I found Johnson Creek's juices very appealing.
And honestly I'm very afraid to inhale anything out of china unless it has some sort of quality control certificate from some trustable organisations. (any one remembers their tooth paste and powdered milk disasters?). So What ever I get from china I'm not so keen on using the bundled cartridges.

But on the device part, I really don't know what to get! At first I wanted to jump out and get an e-cigar (like the Ruyan's ones or DSE701) just based on their look and the fact that you can change the battery. But then i found out there are not important factors.
Recently I so a post here on Go-Go and it seems it's a nice unit but it uses cartomisers so i can't fill it with my choice of juice.
Dripping is out for me cause I don't smoke frequently to worth the hassle.

thanks for your advices in advance.

You might want to check out the eGo. I have a Blu and hate it so I'm looking into an eGo. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but you might actually want to drip. Since you don't smoke much then you probably would end up wasting juice in your cart. If you drip you can use what you need then clean your atty and your ready for the next time you vape.

Welcome to ECF, danjo! You really don't need to buy an eGo because you don't smoke that much. You could probably do well with a KR808 model or maybe a 510 Mega battery kit.

Don't worry so much about the juices from China. There are plenty of places to buy great juice.

If you haven't watched Mistress Nomad's videos for newbies, I highly suggest that you do. She gives great, unbiased advice on how to get started with a quality kit that won't empty your wallet.

Hi Jen,
Thanks for the reply. In fact i was going to get a Blu, even though they don't ship outside the US I was ready to go to further extent to buy it cause it has Johnson Creek juices in cartridges and I saw many video clips saying good things about it.
You saved me the first $70!(-:
On the dripping, now that you put it that way it makes sense to me.

Welcome to ECF, danjo.

I would agree that for an infrequent smoker the KR808 would probably suffice. A couple batteries and a few cartos filled with different juices would probably get you through the night. Or you could drip...but it takes two hands. :) As womanofheart said, there are many places for fine juices. (...Well, made in the USA, this is. Don't know about Australia.) As for the KR808, if you're not familiar, it's not much bigger around than a regular cigarette. Search this forum for information on the performance differences between automatic and manual batteries. A couple years ago I started with an automatic KR808 and hated it. Now I use a manual eGO (smoked @ 2 PAD for 45 yrs, though) and love having the control that manual batteries offer.

Good luck.

Welcome Danjo,

I am not, by any means, an expert at this. I have been vaping on and off for about 2 weeks. I started with the "Chinese" disposables, very disappointing! After watching MistressNomad's videos, I decided on a Joye 510. I liked the small size and the attomizers. The one draw back to the 510 is the battery life, so if you order that one purchase a couple of extra batteries. I have owned a 510 for only a couple of days, and I am already looking at getting a Joye eGo. The eGo has a larger size but much better battery life and vapor output than the 510. I purchased my 510 from freedomsmokeusa.com. They have great, personal customer service and they were very quick in filling my first order. Just my honest, newbie opinion.

Good Hunting and Happy Vaping

I also think you should know that you shouldn't be scared off by a cartomizer design because you CAN refill them. In fact, it might be a lot easier for such an infrequent smoker. I understand eastmall.com is a good supplier in Austrailia.

Good luck, and welcome! :)

MadVapes has a nice Holiday kit in the 510 Mega that might do you nice. It also comes with 3 5mL bottles of juice as well as prefilled carts and empty carts. The Mega would give you a longer battery life. I have both the 510 and the eGo. I enjoy my 510 a lot. It is small and easy to carry around when I am on the go. Sometimes I find that I really enjoy the taste of it better than the eGo. There is a lot of personal preference involved in vaping. However, I really think the 510 is a nice starter kit. Worth looking at and thinking about. Here is a link, Mad Vapes 510 kits

After watching Mistress Nomad's videos and reading your posts I finally went for KR808d-1.
I ordered it from heaven-gifts.com due to their price and the distance factor (much closer to Australia).
Unfortunately I wasted much time cluelessly running around and trying to find answers before asking here that now holiday is close and it's almost certain that I won't receive my items before the holiday. So sad!
Anyway, guys you were great. I guess next is to find good juices.
Thank you all.

I received my order and now is about a little more than a week that I'm trying my KR808D-1. Along my e-cig I also ordered a set of empty cartomizers, a set of pre filled cartomizers (Apple flavour), 2 PG juices (cigar and RY4) and one VG (Turkish blend) all 18mg. Based on what I can see on Heaven-gifts.com the juices are Dekang products.
Now the thing is other than the hardwares which are good quality and I can't complain, every thing else is wrong with this e-cig thing!

There is no head-rush, although the nicotine content is quite high. (before you mention CO as the reason for head rush, nicotine is the main reason for it). So maybe I do something wrong?!

Other than that minor down side, the major issue is the taste and flavour of these juices! they are horrible!
They vary from bearable (the Apple one, in my surprise) to hardly bearable (Turkish blend) to disgusting nauseating (Cigar and RY4), although I have to admit even the worst one is far better than a Marlboro gold.

What is wrong with my set up?!

Also I would appreciate if some one help me with the following:
I want to order some juice from Johnson Creek, which I read and heard lots of good things about them, the also have what they call best quality cartridges. So I want to give that a try too (just to make sure good quality juice and filter would help) but the problem is they don't have any cartridge for kr808d-1, instead they have them for 501/901.
Now my question is can I use a 501 or 901 attomizer with my 808 battery?

Thanks
