Okay so I started to use a juul to quit smoking, it’s keeping me off of cigarettes but i’m going through two pods a day. I have no problem money wise, but i’m just wondering if i’m doing more damage to myself then I was smoking? Considering two pods a day is like smoking 2 packs of cigarettes... Thoughts? Was jw. Thanks!

You use what you need to not smoke. If you're taking in too much nic you'll feel it. The important part is not trying to vape less, but to prevent any cigarette cravings. Once you're past that you will find it much easier to reduce the amount you're vaping.

Unless you're constantly inhaling burned wick there's no way you come anywhere near smoking. Go stand next to a bonfire for an hour and compare to being in disco fog for the same time.

Eliquid-cigarette pack comparisons are utter garbage, you'd need your own blood plasma analysis to know how vaping compares to cigarettes for you (and even that will change over time).
You use what you need to not smoke. If you're taking in too much nic you'll feel it.

Now, 2 pods a day, while it won't put you 6 feet under or in hospital, sounds rather expensive. I suggest you get a refillable pod device so you don't get ripped off that much on juice. The juice in prefilled pods is overpriced as f:censored: and you either have the wallet to tolerate it or get a different device

As was stated, your body will let you know if you're taking in too much nicotine.

No, you're not doing more harm than smoking IMHO.
The primary reason vaping is healthier than smoking is because of all the chemicals, tar, carbon monoxide, etc. that you are taking in when you smoke.

I agree with @Eskie , you'll get symptoms like headache, nausea, nervousness or anxiety if you over vape from excessive nicotine.

Don't worry a lot if you think you may be vaping too much. Most new vapers do that in the beginning to help get over powerful cigarette cravings. It's not just nicotine that causes cravings, but most of the other chemicals that are in the smoked tobacco cause cravings, too.

Once you have been completely off of smoked tobacco products for a while, you'll be able to cut down on your vaping frequency, and to cut down on your nicotine concentration in your e-liquid if that is what you desire.

I believe like 45. Not sure. I’ll have to check when I get home. Like I said money isn’t a concern if I stay off stinkies. If that makes sense

I was asking because sometimes not getting enough nicotine from your liquid can cause you to vape more initially to reduce the cravings.

I used to travel a lot like you and smoked and then vaped constantly while on the road.
I was definitely addicted to nicotine (still am), but was probably more addicted to the act of smoking more.

Anyway, sounds like you are using nic salt liquid. You can get stronger liquid, but if you're not smoking why bother.

I still am smoking 3-5 cigarettes s day. I didn’t mean for my last post to make me sound like a a hole lol my apologies. But yeah I def am addicted to the act of smoking something. I have a Smok inifinix too but the juul is just more convenient for me cause I don’t have to worry about my coil burning at random times when i’m our and about cause I am never home.

If the Juul is working for the most part, don't worry . The figure I hear tossed around is one pod equals a pack of cigarettes but it's more complex than that because vape is absorbed differently so it sounds like you are near where you need to be.
Unless you get nic sick I wouldn't worry it doesn't sound like you are.

I chain vaped like crazy when I first started out. It's not the end of the world. If you like the hand to mouth, well, there's plenty of room to lower the nic in your pod and vape with the same frequency down the road, that works for some folks. But not now while you are still smoking.
Do not worry would be my advice.

Didn't see anything in any of your posts that came across that way, maybe I'm blind.

I'm the last person you could possibly offend here I assure you.
You'll see in other threads. I'll be the one sitting in the corner. ;)

You're not doing anything more harmful than smoking with the amount your vaping, quite the opposite.
You're on the right track, just keep it shiny side up.
If you have any questions at all, just wanna chat, or just wanna torture and offend people (like I'm usually doing) the forum is full of great people with a lot of great info and open 24/7.

I would try not to worry about it the best you can. The truth of the matter is you and I both have no idea how much nicotine your body is absorbing from either smoking or vaping. The only way you have of gauging how much nicotine you are getting is how you feel. If you are satisfied with two pods a day then don't change anything. Just be happy you are inhaling less burning plant matter.

the fact that i’m basically smoking 2 packs of cigarettes a day
You're not...
How can you call something a fact you don't even have the basic data on? There were studies done with blood plasma analysis, they concluded that the nicotine intake depends on liquid, vaping technique, gear and vaping experience. A newbie who vaped for the first time only took in a fraction of the nicotine an experienced vaper did - with the exact same liquid.
That means some generally accepted formula of "this much Xmg/ml eliquid equals that much packs of cigarettes" is just horsedung. It's utterly meaningless. One could calculate an average over all vapers but that's equally useless to just about any individual vaper.

Like people tried to tell you earlier, you'll know if you had too much nicotine because you'll get a headache/dizzy/sick. Chances are your vaping technique is unrefined and you're not getting as much out of a pod as is written on the label.

The next part is that vaping is nothing like smoking so trying to equal pods to damage done by packs of cigarettes is even more meaningless. We don't have tars. We don't have fine particulate matter. We don't have the thousands of carbon based byproducts that burning a cigarette creates. We have PG, VG, flavor and nicotine vapor, none of which are what makes smoking harmful.

You can basically vape your f:censored: balls off until it comes out your ears as long as it keeps you from smoking. Once you completely kicked the stinkies you can think about reducing your vapor intake if that's what you want to do but stay on track to kick the burning tobacco! Whatever it takes is what it takes ;)

As you get more experience in vaping and your body adapted to the different nic delivery you'll automatically either vape less or reduce the nicotine in the liquid, I know only very few vapers that still have the nic level they started with. The vast majority I know of uses moderate to low levels now.

YOU are not vaping the equivalent of two packs a day, EVEN if your nic has risen substantially which I DOUBT, vaping and smoking are NOT EQUIVALENT.

EVERY single one of my doctors does NOT CARE about my nic levels (and heart attacks run in my family) THEY ALL say (including MOST of the cardiovascular risk is caused by COMBUSTION and TAR. THAT is the real killer.

You need to knock that thinking off RIGHT NOW and FORVER, if you want any hope of vaping success. It's an EXCUSE and you know it. You are aware of the harm reduction of vaping??

It's NOT THE AMOUNT of nic that will do you in tar and a smoking related illness will do it first I AM ALMOST 200% CONVINCED.

first of all, the novelty is invariably what's making you vape more. Have your way with Juul, the symptoms of nicotine are very much like those of caffeine. Don't worry, but keep it in a pocket. Having it at hand will make you vape more. Once the novelty wears off, you'll see you'll vape less. Don't equate it on cig terms, use what you need.

the states of unitedness
i am maybe one of the few that can say: it's better than smoking. i have been struggling with health problems for some time now, in no small part related to my years of smoking. while i'm still battling it out here, i've improved somewhat dramatically since i've switched over to vaping. while i'm not 100% by any means, i'm doing A WHOLE LOT BETTER than i was when i was smoking a pack a day. and for me, i started out vaping around 2 pods per day. that's what it took to keep me from smoking. after a while, i've shifted to maybe around 1 or 1.5 pods per day. i've been going at it at this rate for months now, i think (not really keeping track). my respiratory issues have improved a lot since i ditched the cigarette. and also, i've noticed that any time i've relapsed and smoked a cigarette since i made the conscious decision to start vaping instead, i've had an almost immediate negative reaction. it really inflames my air pathways, leaving me very uncomfortable.

now this is really personal from my perspective and not necessarily something i share with a lot of people that i know, but it's the internet and i'm still anonymous here so i'll just say it. after years of smoking, i started waking up struggling to breathe. it was like i suddenly developed sleep apnea one day. this was the turning point for me where i decided that i absolutely had to quit and if vaping was even a little bit less harmful, i'd give it a shot. and a serious shot at that. in short, i don't wake up struggling to catch my breath anymore. i can breathe. i actually started running again - something i really couldn't do much of as a smoker. i'm not saying i run well, but i do it lol. and that's more than i could say near the end of my days as a smoker where i was getting winded going for walks (not good).

so in short, if you're juuling, my advice is to stick with it. you're better off even if it is somehow more expensive for you. i'm personally at a point where i'm considering a switch over to a new vaping system. i want access to more juices, different strengths, flavors and all that. but juul is what did it for me. it's how i made the switch. i'm grateful for what juul has allowed me to do which is to quit smoking cigarettes but their options kind of suck. i mean, what are you looking at, like 5 flavors and some of them you don't even like? lol

but for now, keep it up! stick with the vape! if you haven't developed problems from smoking yet, oh you just wait - they'll catch up with you if you keep at it long enough. which is why you should definitely make this transition work for you. just ride it out. i promise you that in due time you won't even want a cigarette, you'll much prefer the vape. it just takes a while to adjust. but you'll see. just ride it out!
