Hi,

I have been vaping for 6 months or so. I currently have an iTaste VV and an iTaste MVP, mostly used with the Kanger mini pro tank. I vape 6mg of 50/50.

I rebuild my own coils with cotton and have just ventured into the world of the RDA. I use an Omega RDA on the iTaste (30g Kanthal, 7 wraps, about 1.4 - 1.6 ohms - I have only built two), as it looks odd on the VV. However, the MVP seems almost too strong for me and I have it turned down all the way. Too strong of a hit, etc.

Additionally, even when I use my MVP with the mini Pro tank, it is often too much - its not just with the RDA.

So, my questions are:

1. Might RDAs in general simply be too much for me?
2. Is there a mod that will hold an Omega, but has less hit?
3. Can I adjust my build in some way to lessen the hit?
4. Given all the above information, is there an overall better way to go? Perhaps just back to the VV?

Thanks!

This same thing happened to me when I got into rebuildables. I started with drippers that fit my ego twists. But I ended up keeping the volts at the lowest setting with them. Now that I've moved completely to rebuildables I use a mech with them & I'm perfectly happy with it. That might be where you're heading too. Maybe you should consider getting an inexpensive mech to use with your RDAs. Just remember to learn about battery safety. :)

Thank you for the suggestion! Do you have a recommendation on the mech?

if you only have 30 gauge kanthal and you want to raise the ohms you need to make a bigger coil, you can make it longer (more wraps) or wider. if your building micro coils on a drill bit, use a bigger drill bit or add more wraps.
if your wrapping the coil around silica or cotton try adding more wraps or use more wick so the coil is larger in diameter.

if you have other gauges of kanthal you can use one with a higher number.
for example 28 gauge is larger in diameter than 32 gauge.
the larger the wire is in diameter, the less resistance it will have per inch.

With this one post, you've answered all my questions regarding building coils lol Thank you SO MUCH!

Thank you. So, I tried both...silica wrap and micro coil. I got them both up to 1.7 ohms and the result is a hot vape with not a lot of vapor. I have adjusted airflow too.

I am sure I am doing something wrong!

what is the PG/VG ratio of the e-liquid you are using?
i find %90+ VG works very well in a RDA. to much PG and it will not vape well in a low resistance RDA.
you might try more like 2 or 2.5 ohms. if your building duel coils on your RDA and you want total circuit resistance to be 2 -2.5 ohm range each coil needs to be 4 - 5 ohms.

I use 70% vg/30%pg 8mg nic 1.5 ohm micro coil cotton wick IGO-L easy single coil - 8 watts on MVP 2 and love it.

I put the IGO-L top cap air hole next to the coil with no wick in between under nor on other side of coil - helps with air flow. I replace cotton - get coil glowing and place under cold water to remove carbon/stuff buildup daily.

I drip allot throughout the day and the flavor starts to go by the end of the day.

Lots of variables to play around with and it is different for most everyone - kind of like finding the perfect fitting pair of cross trainer shoes - except more choices and more variables.
