Ok, I recieved my joy510 and really like it, except it seems I may be getting to much throat hit. I started with 36mg menthol, even tho I have always smoked non-menthol cigs, because someone told me it tasted better, lol So when i vaped it would hit my throat and cause a tickle that made me cough really bad! So I ordered 24mg marbelo non-mentol and it still cause the tickle and makes me cough. BTW, all this is VG based and I ordered plain VG incase I need to cut the strength. I have read posts about this and will continue to try different things because I really want this to work!! Any ideas will be appreciated and also what are some smooth gentle flavors I might try? Thanks everyone ya'll are a great help here at ECF!
Thanks
Melanie

Some people have issues with PG or VG. You are vaping 100% VG which is typically light on TH and big on vapor. Also is the atty cleaned out? It could be the menthol causing you issues. I know I have one atty that is for menthol only since that flavor hangs for a long time.

You may want to try some PG based juice. Maybe something around 80%pg/20%vg. Do you know any other vapers close by. That way you are not placing orders for stuff that may not work.

I coughed for several days when I started. It was like learning to smoke all over again. Lots of folks seem to have the same problem. Different juice might help, but it may also take a little time to get used to vaping. Menthol juice, for me anyways, was a lot smoother than the non-menthol, and I didn't smoke menthols cigs. Don't give up and hopefully you'll be exhaling huge clouds of vapor like in the youtube vids before you know it.

Lots of good advice for you already but I'd like to add--drink lots of liquids. I mean lots and lots of liquids. lol. Speaking for myself, I tend to perceive the vapor as 'dry' at the back of my throat. And the hotter the vapor, the dryer and harsher it feels to me and will sometime leave that sandpaper ticklish feeling. (not sure if you can 'tickle' with sandpaper lol) Anyways, I always have a cup or glass of something in hand when I vape. The good news is, I've found I like lemon water pretty good, and I'm cutting back on my five gallons of coffee a day. :>) Water and ciggies. No, no, no double no. Filtered water with a little lemon along with some good peanut butter and apple juice. Not bad. Not as good as coffee, but still---

JD1 has got a point, it does dry out your throat and drinking a lot of liquid does help. I don't see it as a problem, drinking more water is generally healthy anyways.

And another thing, a large part of it is just getting used to it. Even coming straight from analogs, vaping has a different throat hit, drier and it feels maybe more chemical-like, even though it isn't. Stick with it and your body will adjust.

Hi Cole, first , welcome to the forum!!!!

You'll find a lot of people here that have been through whatever you have faced and they will gladly give their input. A lot of experience here!!!

Take your time to work out what mg of nicotine suits you and which flavours you actually can enjoy. Remember, this is all about you, so it's OK to be selfish about this aspect!!!

My own experience goes as thus. Smoked 1.5 PAD for 40 years. My vape is/has been 24mg VG based liquids. Just cut back to 18mg this week.

I've found that PG gave me a cough initially, so changed to VG. Currently vaping 50/50 PG/VG.

Also, found that 24mg was giving me a cough towards the end of the day, so have cut later vapes to 18mg. It's working!!!

Hope this helps.

Thanks Clark, I think I started with 36mg and 24 mg thinking more is better, haha And maybe not in this case. I will stick with it and keep the forum updated

TH is from PG, nicotine, and type of flavor (i.e. cinnamon may have more TH than many tobaccos which have more TH than many fruity juices like peach).

Also new attys and some blank cartos can have primer fluid in them that is very harsh on the throat. So if you are getting the harshness with a brand new atty or blank carto then it could be primer.

Also, you could just be taking too big drags. If you sucked some e-cigarettes the way some people drag hard on cigarettes, you would get a ton more vapor than you ever got of smoke.
