Too much throat hit with low nicotine

Hello everyone and a merry Christmas. First post here!

I recently came to Greece to visit my parents for the Christmas days. I started vaping and stopped smoking about three months ago. Since then I've tried a few liquids, including Liqua, Dekang and some less known ones and have reduce the nicotine levels from 18mg to 6mg now.

I didn't have enough liquid to get me through the vacation, so I went to a local store here in Greece to get some liquid. Supposedly, the liquid is 6mg banana taste and according to the vendor, is 70/30% PG/VG. The TH is very strong and I wanted to ask if you think this is normal. The liquids I was vaping before, where 80/20% and had much less throat hit. It is also strange I only need 3.2V at 2.8Ohm to get decent vape.

I have noticed different juices vary greatly in throat hit. My Malibu juice I vape around 3.4v while my apple by lava I vape more around 5.5 with the same head. I would try just cranking down the voltage until it's better for you. If you can't get the throat hit / vapor production you like the I'd say that juice just isn't for you.

Hi Grieverheart and welcome to ECF!

In my opinion there is a good chance that juice has more than 6mg of nicotine in it. Nic is the main contributor by far to TH. Personally I would not worry about it unless I was feeling the effects of too much nic like headache or nausea. If that does start to happen and you are stuck with this juice you can probably buy some Glycerine USP grade from a pharmacy and add some to dilute it.

Merry Christmas and hope you are enjoying Greece :thumb:

I agree with Ryedan. I was originally going to say it's due to the higher PG content but you said your normal juice has even more PG in it. I would also say try to find something to dilute it some. I've also heard distilled water can dilute ejuice but don't have any ratios or anything to go by. Oh and welcome, I hope you stick around!

Hey everyone! Thank you very much for your replies. Many of you might be confirming my suspicion that the nicotine levels of the juice might be higher than indicated. I don't get any headaches or nausea, but it took a bit of effort to reduce the nicotine to 6mg, so I'm more worried it will be hard to get back.

When I first started with 18mg I was getting heart palpitations although I was a moderately heavy smoker (about 20 hand rolled analogs per day) and that's the main reason I reduced it, the other being my wish of going nicotine free at some point. The latter though seems it might be much harder than reducing the nicotine levels of my juice.

Anyway, I will try to see if I can find any glycerine in the pharmacies, although I'm not sure they sell that.

Again, thanks for your replies!

It will be in the First Aid Section close to Band Aids and Skin Care as it is used as a Hand Moisturizer. You want the "Glycerin" that is either labelled as "BP" or "USP"= pharma grade. Could prolly also pick it up in a Health Food Store= more expensive.
