Pg is one of the liquids used in oral rinses for dry mouth, so I seriously doubt it. And vg is vegetable glycerine. There have been a number of threads about mouth problems arising not so much from vaping, but from quitting cigarettes.

Yeah. Interesting thing about cigs suppressing bacteria in the mouth and "masking" dental problems.

I have an old root canal that's starting to give me trouble. The smoking must have been slowing down the bugs. Now it ain't.

Oh. Goodie...

I would think that the citrus juices and more acidic ones would affect tooth enamel in a negative way, but if you drink a lot of water while vaping, which is recommended anyway, you should be good....and if the dentist says it's ok....well then, you've heard it's ok right from the "horse's mouth". :D

I've been with vaping for 5 months now, and I have a scheduled root canal for this Monday. The root canal is the result of a cavity that has been with me for 14 years that I had neglected (I haven't had dental insurance for 14 years, either) to have work done on. This tooth with the cavity (tooth number three) finally broke last week from decay I presume. I can't figure any connection with vaping. Diet habits (sodas, sugar, etc.) are probably major components in dental problems. PG 100? Yeah, I really like it. The flavor of the nicotine is a little more present. I haven't had too much experience with different juices since I started vaping. I've only spent so far 27$ in 5 months on the juice. I figure right now though I am using a bit of it. PG seems to me to be a little more affordable. I have noticed my teeth feel better, cleaner, and look a little bit whiter without the cigarettes. This is one of the benefits of not smoking that I had awaited and looked for when I switched to vaping. It took longer to notice the whiter teeth than I expected (took a good 7 weeks and I expected overnight results). I would start a thread on whiter teeth after I search for one in the newbie part of forum, if I don't find one. I am curious about what you all might have to say about that...

Awesome to have an expert on the subject. How about the dehydrating effects? Can a dryer than usual mouth lead to tooth or gum issues?

Yes dry mouth can lead to tooh decay and gum dz, saliva has a natural buffering action that prevents oral dz. I would recommend plenty of h2o and even some gum with xylitol which stimulates saliva flow. Someone mentioned biotene which Is great product. Many medications cause dry mouth, so I recommend certain things to help such as biotene products which are OTC. If you need anything stronger, there is a prescription toothpaste called "prevident dry mouth"

With brushing and rinsing, most healthy folks will b just fine!!!!

I love when I see my ex smokers turned vapers - it makes me so happy.

Since I started vaping I've been hoping we don't learn in a few years/months that there's something horribly wrong with it... I just enjoy it too much! Could happen though...

i smoked analogs and it didnt stop me lol. people have been vapers for 3 or 4 years and still around so i dont think there will be any acute dangers. long term cant be much worse than what would have happened had i never quit analogs.

I'm a dentist and pg and vg are bacteriostatic - they will not cause tooth decay - poor hygiene will

I'm very happy to read this statement. I got started vaping as a direct result of my dentist's recommendation. I think he was getting tired of cleaning the tobacco stains off of my teeth on every visit. I had been thinking about giving e-cigs a try but it was his recommendation that gave me the motivation to actually do it.

I am forever in his debt.

i havent heard anything about tooth decay but i do know that they tell you not to smoke when you leave the dentist because of the suction it creates in your mouth. so id imagine if you had a toothache or something like that it probably wouldnt make it feel any better. i disregarded this advice once when i smoked after having a tooth pulled and it bled like hell!
