Tossed out of bars any anyone?

Enjoyed my 510 at a show on Saturday night. I have a manual batt on it so I can be in stealth mode as long as I hold my hit in for a while. But after a few rounds with other musicians and friends I felt comfortable with vaping and ended up blowing out a couple of clouds. Just then a shout came from a table from across the bar STOP SMOKING IN HERE! A table of scowling young women were pointing and making gestures to the bouncer. The bouncer when over to the table and clued them in from what I gathered. I drank, I vaped, I played, I went home. It was the first show I have ever played in my adult life where I didn't go through a pack of analogs while standing in the Phoenix heat in layers of clothes. The next show is this weekend and I will see how it goes. But I also used it in a restaurant and some people gave me the evil eye as if I was releasing a nerve agent into the air. But I get those looks all the time anyway.

I learned about E-cigs from seeing them used in bars here in Arizona (hard to miss a blue led flashing in a dark bar). And they are running a radio commercial about an e-cig on all the rock stations here. So maybe the public is becoming hip to the technology.

I am back in AZ for a week in December (x-mas break) and I can't wait to show my friends there the Prodigy. Slowly I am getting them all more interested in PV's

I don't get the need to vape where smoking is not allowed. I am in the north east so maybe the restrictions have been around long enough to kill the habit. I don't want to vape at work, in a restaurant, on a bus, etc.. because I have not been able to since I cannot remember.

Are you all in areas where the public smoking bans are more recent?

yeah i've been wondering about that too. i live in va, we haven't been able to smoke anywhere since I was old enough to smoke (except the occasional restaurant with a smoking section). I actually still go outside to vape most of the time, even when i'm at college or home. just used to it i suppose and it keeps me from vaping constantly:rolleyes:

I've only vaped in a no smoking restaurant once, but hardly long enough to draw too much attention.

I'm still fairly new to vaping and I tend to still follow the smoking restrictions of wherever I'm at. I don't have the nerve to just light up, excuse me, vape up anywhere I feel. The e-cig is still fairly new where I live, and ususally trying to explain it just causes more confusion.

Hopefully more store/bar/restaurant owners will be better informed in the near future.

Write to the health department and ask them for clarification. I did that in OH, and they grudgingly said that e cigarettes do not violate the smoking ban. Carry the letter with you.

Can you scan that reply letter for me? I live in Ohio also and the may make my day easier some day.

I went into a bar in Memphis and started vaping away, not realizing it was non-smoking. Confusing place for an out of towner, some places allow it, others do not. Anyway the bartender came over and said hey brother, you can't smoke in here. Then I explained it was an e-cigg and how it worked. He let me vape away. I got acquainted with a few of the lady staff who were curious about it. Great ice breaker..... I get over to Illinois every so often where there's a state wide ban and I've never had any problems with vaping inside yet. The staff at almost all of the places in IL I visited were familiar with the devices. Missouri currently does not have a state wide prohibition on smoking so e-ciggs are a curiosity. I still haven't seen or met another person using one yet.

I know we have to have more people around here vaping than I think, I mean ffs this IS Seattle but I don't see them. I plan on (I have had it one day, 24 hrs now) using it everywhere. Yesterday it got used in a bar (pal was tending bar, took him lasagna *it pays to feed yer bar people!) and got used in the grocery store. I walked past a beat cop in the store and not a word, but I did get a black 501 with a blue LED. I just may have to start talking around and seeing about getting some disposables in a few places because they are always packed outside in any weather (and that can be not so nice!!!) to get a quick smoke then run back in...maybe that can be my new job. Distribute disposables...hm...
