I've been smoking tobacco for way too many years, so have tuned into this forum. I enjoy smoking, so have found it psychologically impossible to quite...although, probably like all of you, I have tried everything (hypnosis, NRT, laser, even accupuncture) and I'm about to admit defeat. How to get into vaping (hum). I've read through the forum and am even more confused due to all the technicalities. I'm in Canada (pretty close to Toronto), and nicotine additives are banned. However, e-cigarettecanada.com claims to sell juice with the nic additive....don't know if I can trust such a blatant infringment of the law so I'm reluctant to order from them. I'd like to try out a starter kit, but don't know where to begin....so many options. I'm a pack a day smoker, tend to draw pretty deeply, and need a battery that will get me through the day without a recharge....at work I smoke every hour or so over a 12 hr. span. Any advice would really be appreciated. Simple terms PLEASE ! I'm not familiar with vaping at all and have never tried it. I'm hoping I can, at least and at last, kick the baccy habit for good. Thoughts? Please !

Welcome. Since I don't know what is easy to get in from from Canada, I recommend you get your 5 non-spammed posts or replies in New Members, then an hour later you will be able to post elsewhere including the Canada section (which includes a list of Canada vendors)

Read the guide here for general information so you will understand what people tell you
The ECF Library

And be aware that to have a battery that lasts all day, it will not be a slim battery

You won't find a small or medium battery model that will last all day. But you should only need to carry one extra battery for the "beginner" model I will recommend. Many will tell you to buy an eGo or Riva model and they are good "beginner" models. But the "cousin" to these two is much better. Much less expensive batteries ($4) that last 5 times longer over the life of the battery. That would be the E-Power. It's the size of a slim cigar. Anything smaller will only give you an hour or a little more on a charge whereas you should get about 5 hours on the E-Power. Here are two good suppliers that sell it:

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - E-Power

e-Power

Based on how you smoke, I would start out with 24mg nicotine strength eliquid and stick with manual batteries.

heh...

I'm the guy who was going to recommend an eGo battery, but that e-power looks pretty good. But! be sure you are comfortable with charging up the Lithium Ion batteries; this thread will help with that: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/129569-rechargeable-batteries.html (it's from the library that dormouse linked) If you're cool with that, the e-power seems the better option, because the voltage is higher than the eGo, which means a warmer, more flavorful vape.

Definitely get yer posts up, and head to the Canada forum

I might add that IF you are able to get e-liquid with nicotine in it, get a higher level nicotine than you would normally smoke. I was a pack a day smoker for 25 yrs and starting with high level nicotine helped me not wanting to smoke analog cigarette. Now I am vaping at much lower nicotine level and can't stand smell of cigarette. Good luck!
