Hi fellow vapers,

I wonder if someone could help me make a start in mixing my own e-liquid. I have been trying different tobacco based e-liquids for a while and have decided to have a go at mixing my own. My favourite e-liquid was the French Tobacco (Four) by Simple Vape but their customer services leave a lot to be desired so I've decided not to use them any longer. They describe the FT as can be seen below. Can an experienced e-liquid mixer would be able to tell me what flavour concentrates I would need to try and get the flavours mentioned below? If so I would be very grateful if I could ask for a full list of ingredients necessary to start my experiments. I have only ever vaped tobacco flavours so the mix will need that as its foundation. I would also appreciate if someone could recommend a one stop shop for all that I need to start my mixing. I'm in London, UK. So, please help me and please make it simple, like an E-Liquid Mixing Guide For Idiots :)

Thank you in advance,
M
Description of the French Tobacco
A warm and rich flavour full of texture with nutty undertones and hints of chocolate, caramel and mild spice. Developed with the help of expert tobacconists to deliver a strong sense of flavour and a satisfying draw. Steeped for longer to instil extra body and a long-lasting taste

Try any of the hangsen tobacco flavorings.

From the description it sounds like you would like these hangsen products

Arabic (chocolate, caramel and mild spice.)
NO.5 (Nuttyness)
Highway. (Nuttyness)

Also any of the inawera chocolates or caramel will satisfy that requirement.

You can combine any of these ingredients to come up with something along the lines of that description.

Not sure where you can get these in the UK but here in the USA I get them at

To help get you started read the following.

My blogs will give insight into all aspects of DYI, from steeping to what supplies to have on hand to a basic walk through mixing your first E-juice.

Then read hoosier's blogs. These blogs concentrate on fine tuning your mix and give insight on additives.

Then read Boletus's blog's. These blogs concentrate on formulation of nicotine bases regarding proper calculations methods for figuring Nicotine concentration as well as safety.

Then read Ginger's book "E-Cigarettes 102: DIY E-Liquid". It is a book which I've contributed to that delivers an in depth easy to follow guide in the art of DYI.

I recommend viewing VPLive Vape Team Episode #82: DIY Safety and bookmark it for future reference. It explains safety in all aspects of DYI.

this will explain a lot of the how's and why's.

I make this recipe with TFA brand, however you could use almost any blender and I think the flavors (hints of chocolate, caramel and mild spice) will come through.

Peanut Butter 9%
RY4 Double 7%
Ethyl Maltol (Cotton Candy) 0.5%

Give it a try, you might be pleasantly surprised. Recommend a 3 week steep minimum. Most tobacco mixes need at least 3 -5 weeks to really reach their peak.

Hans, Danny, Susan and BrotherBob, Thank you all for your kind and informative replies. I have the whole weekend ahead of me to start shopping for all the ingredients and hopefully by next weekend I'll be mixing. My wife will be over the moon :) Once again, thank you all very much and happy vaping.
Start with small batches (5 to 10mls). You'll be experimenting with the % flavoring so no point in mixing a large batch which may not work out and having to throw it all out.

For a juice mixing calculator consider using eJuiceMeUp. Here's a video tutorial on how to use it (if you are mixing by volume).

If you are interested in mixing by weight (vs volume) here are a couple of great videos.

Please do remember that a lot of these descriptions are leaning towards marketing gibberish.
After all, they wanna sell it and it's a bit like these wine sampling sessions. Slip in a bottle with a fake label containing tap water with a drop or two of vinegar plus a pinch of suger and listen to these 'connosseurs' spouting hogwash about this particular 'vintage'....

Listen to what YOUR palate and YOUR tastebuds tell you instead. Agreement on the base notes is usually no problem. Vanilla is vanilla and grapefruit is grapefruit.

But when it comes to nuances, subtle sidenotes and all that it's only your very own taste that matters.

Thats why we have a gazillion different restaurants and a bazillion different dishes on this planet. :)

Thanks Susan. Good point Steamix. I believe Dannyv45 may be on the right track. He suggested Arabic (chocolate, caramel and mild spice.)
NO.5 (Nuttyness)
Highway. (Nuttiness)
I visited bullcityvapor.com and did my shopping, filled in all my details and tried checking out but as soon as I entered my UK address a notice popped up stating they did not ship to the entered address. I then clicked on the links Susan so kindly provided for the UK but unfortunately none of those suppliers do the Arabic Tobacco, the No5 or the Highway and I'm somehow convinced that these flavours are indeed what I'm looking for. I've emailed bullcity.com and am waiting to hear from them whether they can ship to the UK or not.. Can anybody suggest a supplier that may have all these flavours and also sell to the UK?
Thank you all for your replies.

Inawera shouldn't be a prob. Although there's some political noises about it, UK is still in the EU.
So is Poland, where Inawera is based.
Means no hassles with customs. Either them or flavourart (Italy) or bargainvapours (Ireland) for DIY supplies.
Or 123liquids ( Germany ) . Interesting: They sell test kits for checking nic strength. Union jack to click on their website to switch to english is miniscule, but it's there. All of these outfits are inside EU, so shipping costs should be reasonable compared to ordering from across the pond :)

Northern NJ native , Coastal NC now.
Thank you for all your help. I just found all three flavours from a company called rtsvapes and placed my order. Worked out very expensive though as they only offered UPS Priority. Total cost $89.75 :) My wife will go bonkers :)

Once again, thank you.

Dang man , i don't like the sound of the "wife go bonkers" comment , i have friends who have been seriously injured when wife busted them sneaking merchandise into the house without prior wife approval , no joke .

Please be careful

Hi Steamix, I will try the 3 HS flavours and will definitely try the companies you mention in the future. So far my vaping is costing me twice as much as analogues:) I was paying £9.60 every other day for 20 Silk Cut Purples. I am paying as much on liquids and most go straight in the bin :)

Hmmm... one way to cut costs ( and potentially saving your hide from da missus' wrath ;) ) would be DIY.
And cutting costs is big. Pennies to the pound. Yep, you will need to do some reading and information gathering.
The DIY subforum here's got all the info you need and then some....
