Recieved two Touchwoods yesterday, full size and mini. Been flipping back and forth between them since. I'm using 4xl mega dc 1.5 cartomizer on both and I'm really happy with everything about this setup. The only thing that worries me is the batteries(Aw IMR 18650 and 18350). If I've understood what I'v read on ecf these are not protected and I run the risk of running them too low and they will not take a charge if this happens. - Been using my ProVari to test the 18650 and by the draw on the Touchwood can pretty much guess the reading I'll get before I do this. But I have trouble with killing batteries so I don"t want to run them too low. I would love some advise and if you use a competely mechanical mood please chime in on anything about it you think I should know. Been cigfree since 12/31/11 and this site has been a big help. While the AW IMR batts are not protected in the way that regular lithium ion batts are labeled 'protected', they use a safer chemical mix that makes them, some say, even safter than 'protected batts'. See :

Yes, you can run them too low. Some people say that for maximum battery service life, you shouldn't run them below 3.4 volts - just as you should only charge them to 4.15 volts or so.
The short answer is - don't worry, unless funds are tight.
If you do need to preserve your batteries to the max, then you need: (a) several batteries that you can swap around, and (b) some kind of voltmeter or multimeter, to do the job properly.
You could test your batteries while on charge and try to stop them reaching the 4.22 volts that some chargers might take them to.
You should check them while in use, to make sure you don't run them too low. This can be done either with a cheap, small multimeter; or with one of those inline meters with a 510 connection both ends, that some vendors sell.
Generally, if you want to save on battery life - you'll need more batteries. Some would say that is a self-defeating process but it's up to the individual.
