You may need a magnifying glass, but take a close look at the ingredients on a bottle of a very well known e-liquid brand. I wont name it, but a hint would be to say it has a red label. The second ingredient on my bottle reads tobacco lead oil <5%. Okay, I know thats a Chinese typo and it should read tobacco leaf oil. But thats not the point!
In our nanny state, we have many enemies. If they pick up on the word lead in a consumable product, theyll have a field day. Then theyll start saying that if its in one e-liquid, its probably in all of them. Trading Standards are eagle-eyed for this sort of thing. In this particular case, I think the importer should get confirmation from China that this is indeed a typo, and should then put a note with the bottles sold, to explain the typo. Subsequent labels should be corrected. But even this isnt the point!
At all costs, I want to see e-cigs thrive and become universally available. Nothing should threaten this. So, we must be ever-vigilant by ensuring products are properly described and not misrepresented. Every supplier should examine his blurb and labelling, looking for little things that can attract criticism especially in the safety department.
We live in difficult times lets not make it harder by our own carelessness and lack of attention to detail.
