Toxicity of eJuice smell

Hello All,

I sit in an office with a girl who vapes and even though she doesn't vape in the office, she does clean her vape and refill her juice while sitting at her desk and it causes a very pungent and lingering smell of whatever fruitiness she is vaping at the moment. Is there any chemicals or nicotine being inhaled just by smelling and breathing in the ejuice? I only care because I have some health issues and don't want to be putting myself in a more harmful situation. Thank you.

You wont be inhaling any nicotine that way, likely only flavoring molecules. I can't see any way it would be harmful unless you happen to have an allergy to a particular flavor she is using.

I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, but I don't believe you have anything to worry about.

Out of curiosity, did you join the forum just to ask that question? Just wondering

healthwise it should have no impact on your health. you might ask her to refill outside or a time when you are not in the office. i once watched 1 girl have problems with anything the other girls were using (hand lotions, perfumes,, gum).. it made for an ugly office.......thank goodness i wasnt part of that cat fight....you really dont want that. hopefully she gracefully agrees to your request.

No, unless you directly inhale the juice, or get it on your skin there is no chance of getting nicotene into your system.
The rest is just food flavorings that should not contain anything harmful. IF they did, she'd be in a world of hurt by now!

What you are smelling is called "natural and artificial flavors." Similar to if she was eating a Pop Tart or a pack of Gushers. Would you be worried about toxic smells if she were eating a Pop Tart or a pack of Gushers?

Smells can be annoying for sure. But even if (and you don't) you got a couple of ppm of nic do you think it would affect you? It's really kind of thinking you might get a DUI because the guy on the bus next to you was a little drunk. Or getting a caffene buzz from walking by Starbucks.

Ejuice is made of Propylene Glycol, Vegetable Glycerine, Nicotine, and food flavorings. All of those are food products. You're probably getting as much nicotine as half a tomato.

Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerine is commonly used in food additives where alcohol is not a good base for extracts. (normally extracts are made from... say soaking vanilla in an alcohol solution) In cases where the product is not baked and the alcohol won't evaporate, they use propylene glycol... cases like BBQ sauce where it's added after the baking as well, or drink flavorings, etc.

Food flavorings are just that... the flavors of food found in many candies. such like strawberry flavoring, banana flavoring, etc.

Nicotine is found it tomatos, potatos, eggplants as well as tobacco. It does not cause cancer, and although listed as a toxic chemical, nobody has died from Nicotine overdose... even when they've tried (suicide attempts). Second hand vapor has so far been tested to contain such a minute trace of nicotine, that they shouldn't be concerned.

In conclusion... if the smell is bothering you, treat it like someone was wearing a perfume. If it upsets you, ask them to stop... I am a vaper, and I believe that not everyone should be exposed to my flavors if they don't want to. whether or not it's legal, it's just a case of politeness.

Even if she did vape it wouldn't be a problem... Smelling the liquid would be similar to smelling a bag of candies...

Second hand vapor produces no toxins above any work safety standards whatsoever.. It is completely safe, there's been studies done on it.

On this second study it only showed exposure to nicotine but not at any levels that would affect you, about the levels found in a slice of tomato..

Another study here determined if was similar to the exhaled breath of a person just breathing air..

Please try not to be so hard on vapers, addiction to tobacco cigarettes are one of the hardest habits to quit it's not just the nicotine in there that is addictive among many things there is MAOI's which pretty much create the addiction (not found in vapor products), every vaper you see was once a smoker, you should congratulate them on their victory over tobacco..

I frankly doubt there'd be an issue; that's like putting on weight from walking past a Famous Amos store.

But you described the smell as pungent. If it bothers you, maybe just have a nice chat with her and ask if she wouldn't mind refilling somewhere else.

Everything you're heard that made you ask this question are lies and part of a witch hunt because governments wants people on cigarettes for that sweet sweet tax money and kickbacks from pharma and their "stop-smoking" aids (that don't work for most).
