That's bizarre I had the same thing happen. I have been happily using a Stardust Clearmizer for the last couple of weeks, and yesterday I was watching a review of the Stardust-3 by PBusardo (he cracks me up!) which was actually a riot (
A PBusardo Rant & Review - Vision eGo Clearomizer V3 (long wick) - SnG Vapor - YouTube and just as he was describing a leaking issue with it (which I have never experienced before), mine starting leaking all over my hand!
The plastic had disintegrated from a flavoring I was testing from FlavourArts (Tiramisu).
I felt the same alarm as you just voiced. Until this happened I have guardedly viewed vaping as relatively safe, and now I have to wonder, just how safe this really is.
There are not many things that can melt plastic, and that you would feel comfortable about ingesting , at least none I can think of. And for me, not only did the plastic melt but it actually went into solution with the e-Liquid! Having never tried Tiramisu, I had no idea how it should taste and I didn't like it at all but had read it was an "acquired taste". I think what I found objectionable about the taste was the plastic, not the tiramisu!
Well, I guess anyone who vapes is in really in uncharted territory. If there are serious health risks, it could very well take a few more years before the links are realized.
I can't believe there has not been some sort of scientific study on the safety of flavorings used in vaping, and even more to the point, I can't believe that manufacturers aren't required to list ingrediants of flavorings.
At first I was a kind of ...... that Vision was so cheap as to use plastic instead of glass, but maybe it's a good thing (kind of like a canary in a coal mine kind of thing). I mean I'd rather loose a clearomizer than a lung!
Well, this is an eye-opener, I am sorry to say
