Thanks for the feedback everyone. I appreciate the thoughts.

Bnrk if you have a link to that video Id love to see it and Im sure others interested in this would also.

Here you go, the video is imbedded a few posts down, this is a must see for every vaper, a bit long so be sure you have time, but awesome info.
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/295939-greek-cardiologist-studies-vaping-vs-smoking-interview-vapeteam-show-wednesday.html

I agree some flavors need to be vaped with caution, but most of us intake air with our vape like we smoked, so it gets diluted. I also agree use flavors lightly. I DIY most of mine so I know what goes in there and it gives me more control of what's added. I like that :) But when making things like candles and soap, the amount of added flavors/scents is so much higher! What we add for vapes is extremely low. So we get alot of inhaled scents at high doses with scented everything including bounce dryer sheets, laundry soap, etc, the stuff is everywhere in high concentrations. bnrk

I wish I could be so cavalier about it. Again, getting a whiff of popcorn dissipated in the air around you is alot different then inhaling it directly into your lungs. You certainly wouldnt vape a big bottle of diacetyl would you? No. Theres a reason you wouldnt, because we know what it can do.

I cant compare sniffing something in low concentrations in the air to vaping directly. Doesnt make sense to me. Sounds like a safe argument but its a whole different process.

You just need to put it into perspective. Very few things we do in life are completely safe.

Just thank our lucky stars that the USPS or UPS can deliver our juices to our door. Could you even imagine having to get into our deathtraps we call cars and have to risk our lives buying our juice?

Im getting much more perspective from this post and everyones replies than I had before thats for sure Pete. Im still kind of afraid to vape this ripe bananna juice... lol. Sucks too cause it tastes so damn good.

Funny thing, whenever I mix it is usually late at night and my girlfriend is usually asleep. Whenever I open bananna she can smell it two rooms over and wakes her up. She comes out and stares at me, shakes her head, and says "I knew you were messing with that bananna juice." I show her the cracked tank today and she says, "I knew that stuff was evil!"

As much as I do enjoy it I think Im going to avoid using it as a standalone flavoring, if at all. I have some others Im questioning now also as a result of my4jewels post.

Im off to watch that video bnrk posted for now.

buffaloguy, store your liquids in glass. It has been discussed on this forum that plasticides do leach into liquid stored in them for any length of time. They are not good to inhale.

I store my nic and flavoring in glass. The white coated bottles are okay for about 6 months but I also use glass for PG and Vg that I have any longer than 6 months.

I am with you about minimizing the risks but we can't do much about what we don't know. From the information that is available, vaping is safer than smoking.

oops I missed that! I was reading it because I have these Phoenix cartos and was wondering if they would crack! I do have Mojito in one and it has lime and mint, so far so so good. bnrk

I told a guy in another thread to use a syringe to make the tube for his because they do not crack. He used a 5ml and it worked like a charm :)

I use the new ST DC tanks and they are made from the same plastic that syringes are made from. I vape fruits and cinnamon with no cracking.

Oh that is good to know. I may have to try them. I don't use tanks tho because I am such a flavor hound I have 30 cartos of flavors going at once and the thought of 30 tanks is just way over the top I think :) LOL bnrk

I had to jump in on this thread to comment. Yep, TPA ripe banana was the first experience I had with a tank cracking. That's when I started that list. It really freaked me out. All of the info on that list has been collected from personal experiences of members of ecf. I recently had my 1st experience with the endcaps on my polypropylene tank melting. I figured out that it was TPA blueberry and TPA blueberry candy.

I think that just like anything else in our lifes it comes down to an individual choice. For me, when I learned about those 4000 chemicals that I was inhaling I was more scared then when I started vaping. Also, all of the healthy benifits that I have received make me think that it can't be so bad. My COPD has completely gone. That tells me that vaping is safer for me. But as I said, it is an individual choice.

Think of it this way: you aren't supposed to use oil-based lubes on condoms because they destroy the latex, but chances are you wouldn't think twice about using something like that on your body. There's a difference in something degrading plastic and being corrosive to skin. Still, it IS an unknown, but one I'm pretty comfortable with.

Thanks for the thoughts and comments everyone. Im definitely putting it all into perspective.

Jewels I seriously wonder if its the triacetin in some of the fruit concentrates from tpa that cause this. I dont know the owner of tpa, and I dont order from them direct. I get mine through wizardlabs. Otherwise Id write to them and ask.

Im not sure is John from wizard would even know but Im planning to send him an email about my next order so Ill at least ask him if he knows, or can find out.

For now Ive been secretly working on my tobaccos and am close to what I feel is an excellent base recipe. Ive relegated the known fruit flavorings that have problems to being used only as background flavors in mixes. At least till Im comfortable with them, and have ordered some glass or metal tanks.

A lot of people love the Phinac glass tanks, or you might also prefer a ce2 tank like the MAP tank (I saw some for sale in the classified). I prefer the ce2 and other clearos, because I feel like I can taste the polyfill in regular cartos, and if I can taste it, I can't help but think I must be vaping it.

That's bizarre I had the same thing happen. I have been happily using a Stardust Clearmizer for the last couple of weeks, and yesterday I was watching a review of the Stardust-3 by PBusardo (he cracks me up!) which was actually a riot (A PBusardo Rant & Review - Vision eGo Clearomizer V3 (long wick) - SnG Vapor - YouTube and just as he was describing a leaking issue with it (which I have never experienced before), mine starting leaking all over my hand!

The plastic had disintegrated from a flavoring I was testing from FlavourArts (Tiramisu).

I felt the same alarm as you just voiced. Until this happened I have guardedly viewed vaping as relatively safe, and now I have to wonder, just how safe this really is.

There are not many things that can melt plastic, and that you would feel comfortable about ingesting , at least none I can think of. And for me, not only did the plastic melt but it actually went into solution with the e-Liquid! Having never tried Tiramisu, I had no idea how it should taste and I didn't like it at all but had read it was an "acquired taste". I think what I found objectionable about the taste was the plastic, not the tiramisu!

Well, I guess anyone who vapes is in really in uncharted territory. If there are serious health risks, it could very well take a few more years before the links are realized.

I can't believe there has not been some sort of scientific study on the safety of flavorings used in vaping, and even more to the point, I can't believe that manufacturers aren't required to list ingrediants of flavorings.

At first I was a kind of ...... that Vision was so cheap as to use plastic instead of glass, but maybe it's a good thing (kind of like a canary in a coal mine kind of thing). I mean I'd rather loose a clearomizer than a lung!

Well, this is an eye-opener, I am sorry to say :(

The Perfumers Apprentice site lists triacetin in their flavors if it's present. I have a list compiled that have a potential risk to harm the polycarbonate tubing in tanks. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tanks/219179-lets-make-list-juices-flavors-crack-tanks-ce2s-clearos-21.html#post6453500. The latest update is post #201.

Well I can tell ya the color, or lack thereof in a particular juice isnt much of an indicator of anything. Ripe bananna will however react with some plastics so be careful.

I went and bought some metal tanks for my vivi novas to use juices like this from time to time, and have switched to all glass for mixing, incl bottles since my OP. I am going to avoid plastic like the plague when, and if, I can.
