Ok, I meant to do a test run with French Vanilla, but I got to thinking...always dangerous...

I looked up a recipe for actual DIY vanilla ice cream:
2 cups of heavy cream
1 cup of whole milk
6 large eggs
3/4 cup of sugar
Vanilla extract to taste
salt to taste

So, using the earlier vanilla recipe as a template, and figuring Vanilla Custard would provide the egg note, I got:

TFA Vanilla #2
11% Vanilla Custard
13% Bavarian Cream
3% Caramel
3% Cotton Candy

It was good after mix&shake, but the caramel dominated. After a speed steep, it's still just good, but the caramel faded into the background.

Next Run:
10% Vanilla Custard
10% Bavarian Cream
3% French Vanilla
3% Sweet Cream
4% Cotton Candy

I think your percentages are very high for what your looking to do.

Custards and creams tend to really develop over time into something more special than what they were from the outset.
If you give these a shot and put them up and just test them once a week you'll get the idea of just how the flavors change over time and how well they can smooth out.

My guess is that with time behind it (4 weeks or more) the 10% version would be very nice

(20% flavoring total)
6.8% Vanilla Custard
6.6% Bavarian Cream
2% French Vanilla
2% Sweet Cream
2.6% Cotton Candy

(15% flavoring total)
5.1% Vanilla Custard
5.0% Bavarian Cream
1.5% French Vanilla
1.5% Sweet Cream
1.9% Cotton Candy

(10% flavoring total)
3.4% Vanilla Custard
3.3% Bavarian Cream
1% French Vanilla
1% Sweet Cream
1.3% Cotton Candy

Here is one that you have all the flavors for and is very good,it is posted here by someone else,it's called rwhy4.
10% Double RY4
5% Caramel Candy
5% Bavarian Cream

I hope I am posting in the right thread. Let's say I make the above rwhy4 TFA recipe and find there is too much flavor. I am using ejuicemeup calculator. How would I figure out how much pg/vg and nic(in pg) to add to lighten up the flavor?

I am brand new to this and I do not know how to tweak a recipe. Thanks.

You would not change your base mix (PG/VG/NIC) you would drop the percentage of the flavors. instead of 5% caramel you would figure in 3% and so on

Hey guys, new DIYer here.

I want to make a strawberry cream 30/70 pg/vg @ 6mg for my 1.0 ohm kayfun with ...

Strawberry ripe
&
Bavarian cream

Any suggestions on a good starting % on the flavoring?

Taste is subjective. I suggest you make a small batch like 10 ml. A starting point could be 7% ripe strawberry and 7% Bavarian cream. Then on your next batch adjust to your liking. Also in your journey if you find out that all the changing in % still is not getting what you really want then maybe switch to sweet cream or something?

Thanks!

I tried putting together one last night with
8% Straw Ripe
2% Bavarian
4% Whip

Too much strawberry at least right away.
Does the Strawberry Ripe mute over time or become more developed? (aka stronger)

Right now its put away to steep.

Maybe ill try cutting the Straw in half and doubling the creams tonight, see what happens

Yes strawberry is dominate Steeping will smooth it out but the strawberry will still be strong. So I think your on the right track by backing it off and increasing your creams.

I generally use 5% Strawberry. IMO it's a very good strawberry.
