There are some good answers here!

Myself, I was a hard core smoker for 30 years. I've switched to vaping now and love it. My idea is to get the nic level down to 0-6mg (Currently at 25mg) then I'll taper off till I only vape one or twice a week. I'll always keep my gear because you never know when something bad will happen that will tempt you into lighting up.

I agree, I started at 24mg and I'm now down to 12mg. Just ordered some 6mg samples, and I'm hoping to get to the point where I can put it away and forget about it. I too will keep it though, just in case I ever start craving again. I would never want to go back to smoking.

I enjoy it and don't plan on quitting, but I have a feeling I could without a problem. There have been days that I "forgot to vape" and days where I was sick and just couldn't vape but it didn't really bother me. A friend of mine used a PV for about 2 months, until he got drunk and lost both of them. He realized a few days later (before he got a chance to order a new one) that he didn't need it, and hasn't smoked or vaped since then.

How long have you been vaping. Did the step down come naturally, or did you purposely wean down?

I don't stealth vape in public places, I can go out to eat or attend a family function without it, I can go all day without it. Even if I couldnt, I don't think anything that isn't hurting me, my family, jeopardising my bank account, home, or job, should be labeled a "weakness" or addiction. I enjoy it, and yes, it replaced smoking which can kill you. Anyone calls me weak for using it, screw them.

I never give thought to giving up vaping. I know first hand that all ex smokers are but one puff away from being full blown smokers again. I had 14 years behind me after quitting cold turkey and never dreamed I'd get caught in the web, but I did. This time around it's different. My PV gives me what I need and crave and smoking is nothing but a fleeting thought---a thought of how good it feels to be free from the craving to smoke. Even when I find myself in a place where I can't vape (very few places I can't at least catch a stealth or two) I don't have the "I'm gonna go nuts if I don't get my fix" moments like it was when I needed to smoke. I've reached the point now where I don't have to take my PV when I go for a short run to the store or get gas, not so during the smoking years. I will probably vape for the rest of my life just for sheer pleasure. And if we have to endure a ban???? I'll no longer be considered a law abiding citizen.

I'm not calling anyone weak for using it. I'm saying to ME it's a weakness because right now I can't go anywhere without it or I'm afraid I will want to smoke. So to ME it's a crutch just like cigarettes were and an addiction. I love the fact that it's gotten me to this point where I'm not smoking I just don't want to have to rely on it any longer than I have to.

Don't be so hard on yourself!
You need a pat on the back just for getting to where you are now!
Be proud of your first step. If you are able to eventually give it all up, good for you! Many of us enjoyed smoking, but not the eventual debilitating health problems associated with it. Vaping may prove to have its own set of problems, but based on what we know, we are all better off. One step at a time my friend!

Only a month vaping. 24mg gave me a headrush so I went down to 18mg quickly and then stepped down to 12mg and I don't notice any difference. So I just ordered 6 mg to see if I'll notice any difference there or not. I'm hoping that I can get down to 0mg as quickly as possible and then just try to ween myself off vaping all together.

But you are made to feel weak from somewhere or someone...that's more the "anyone" I was referring to....and personally I think I'm pretty strong for getting off the cigs however I did it, and am proud of myself for it!
I enjoy the taste, the soothing properties, the act, and I don't think it's any more harmful to me than my caffeinated coffee or any of the millions of chemicals in everything I use in my home and eat on a daily basis.
And if somehow it IS proven to be as harmful to my health as smoking, then it'll be time to quit this too. I just don't see that happening.

Thanks. Trust me, I am very happy with where I'm at now! After years of trying to quit smoking, I finally feel like I have it beat. I just can't wait until I feel like I don't need to smoke or vape to get through the day.

I too am very proud to be off cigarettes after years of trying. I personally just don't want to still be vaping in a year from now. That's just me though, if your happy then more power to you!

I will always be "addicted" to cigarettes. That being said, after trying so hard to quit over the last 14 years, I have not had a cigarette in almost two months. I guess I am taking baby steps now in just wanting to get off the nicotine. If I can totally quit the nicotine, and end up addicted to vaping so be it. I will look at it as though I traded one addiction for a better addiction health wise from the standpoint of what we know at the moment.

Worrying about charging/getting batteries, blowing atomizers, running out of juice, etc., still is not as bad as "well I'll have just one more cigarette today. Just buying one pack at a time cause it is going to be my last one! Making a special trip to town to buy a pack! Quiting for 2 months and then having just that "one" cigarette. Yah right!! Feeling like a failure because I caved in after weeks, days and started on the cigs again. Not going to Dr like I should because if I can't help myself, why should I expect them to help me, etc. I have to quit; I need to quit on my mind constantly."

I am "addicted" to my liquid oxygen reservoir that I am attached to via a 50ft hose, and the Bi-pap machine I have to sleep with. Talk about time, money and worry! Will the LOX delivery van be able to get here with 2 ft of snow on the ground. Will I be able to get home before I run out of oxygen. Am I going to even feel like doing anything tomorrow. On and on....

Yes, I would eventually like to be back to where I am just "addicted" to the air we all breathe. At this point, can not for see that will be possible.

"Thank God for Vaping and this forum for information and support."

I'm sure you can do it, you seem very committed to it. Step down the nicotine and you'll be ready to give it up before you know it. Good luck!

When I was smoking, cigarettes controlled me. That addiction told me when to smoke, told me to smoke everytime I got in my car, every morning when I woke up, everynight before I went to bed. The addiction controlled my every decision. "When am I gonning to be able to smoke again?" "Can this pack last me the rest of the day?" That addiction is a nightmare.

I still have an addiction, but now I call the shots. I vape when I want, where I please and if I can't... no big deal. I feel like I have the addiction under control with vaping, I never did with cigarettes.
