Hello and welcome GlowingSnowman! The last cig. that I smoked was the one I had right before leaving for the B&M to buy my eGo kit. There is a half pack sitting on the shelf in the garage that hasn't been touched since then.
It took me 3 months to completely quit a 30 year 2 PAD habit. Within the first week cigarettes starting going gross on me but that wasn't enough in itself to get it off my back. Some people do that "I picked up a PV and never touched a cigarette again!" thing. I wanted to reach out and hurt those people, I had pretty bad quit smoking withdrawal to deal with for the first two weeks dropping from 2 PAD down to a half dozen or less even.
The point is: you get to decide your own end game here. There is only one rule - you have to have a genuine desire to quit. How you do it with vaping pretty much sorts itself out on it's own from there. We have flexibility in how you approach this. The American Cancer Society programs? No so much. We already know which method is working better...
Seems like everyone just about starts with an eGo kit, or a cig-a-like then moves to an eGo. Guess that's part of the process.
I saw someone vaping in a YouTube video when looking at pipe smoking videos (tobacco pipes that is) I'm a gadget guy and thought it looked interesting so I bought an eGo kit and never looked back. I had my last cig ever 1 hour before I bought my PV.
A bunch of money and vape gear later I'm hooked and haven't even held a cigarette since that day. Im so much happier and feel better.
Excellent. I was going thru withdrawl prior to Xmas on day 3. I thought I couldn't do it. I thought I was going to die. I was 2.5+ PAD. The next day I was great and it only got better.
I smoked for 38.
I didn't want to make it a Resolution. I bought the stuff prior to Xmas to see if it worked and I was done pretty quickly. So I am kinda short one useless New Year Resolution. I didn't realize it would be this easy. I tried e-cigs to see it it was worth making a Resolution. Why put the pressure on yourself?
Friends are coming over to vape and eat perfectly cooked steak (NY Strip - 131 degF internal) with a mushroom and onion au jus reduction that is really good. And maybe super whispy thin onion rings. It will be good.
I just wish I had taste buds like normal people. I am getting there.
btw, five weeks in, and I'm vaping zero (or near-zero) nicotine most of the day... I work from home, on my computer, and just pound away at my usb passthrough with very light flavor and almost no nicotine.
Of course, I do still indulge in the real thing (12 or even 18 mg) when I feel the need.
2.5 PAD is a serious habit, Art. I loved my smokes but never could understand how anyone could smoke that much (everybody's different, of course, is the answer).
I really didn't do it as a 'Resolution.' Just worked out that my kit arrived on December 31, so that's the day I quit smoking!
Anyway, congratulations on the success. It's really amazing, isn't it?
Yea i would say i smoke alot more now, that when i started (just 9 days) But as i got used to the troath hit i smoke even more.
Quite a shame in a way, i barely get any troath hit now.
Edit: That's when im at the computer. If i'm outside doing something i find less need to vape.
So i guess it's mostly due the comfort of being able to smoke at the computer

The "problem" with vaping when you first start is usually not vaping enough. It's not the auto-pilot we were used to with smoking. You had a cigarette, you had a match. You lit it and when there was nothing left you stopped. With vaping you have to push a button every time you want it to do something for you. You put it down and... nothing happens. You aren't wasting it going to ash in an ash tray. There is no cue to pick up your PV again. You actually have to work at vaping enough on a consistent basis and not try to just chase cravings with a PV.
When I started a "big" day for me might have been 1 ml. Realistically that wasn't enough. I average 3 ml's a day with my more basic gear, not with any cloud chasing or sub ohm gear that can suck up 3 ml's of liquid in two drags.

I was at 1ml in the beginning and I think I am now at 2. About a month.
I don't even know what TH is. It is not an issue. I seem to hot the PV all the time but I am good at about 2 ml/day. Crazy I know.
Two or three puff and blow a few smoke rings and I am satisfied. I see the people on YouTube and they are not me.
1 ml wasn't technically enough for me, but it worked. I am sure my lungs were crusty. It absorbs into the sytem differently. Not worse, just differently.
Cigarettes are perfect. I agree. They never leak or gurgle.
