Traps to avoid?

I know we all have started vaping with different set ups, but if you had to to it all over again, knowing what you know now, what would you do differently? What traps, or mistakes would you have avoided. I enjoy vaping, but it is getting expensive trying to learn as I go along. I want to learn from the more experienced vapors and want to see if I can avoid some of their mistakes.

I would have skipped the Blu, the 510's and the eGo's and gone straight to the ProVari with the VV Gripper as my backup. I would never have bought the ridiculous eGo tank and cone crap. I would not have wasted money on Vivi Nova's and gone straight to the carto tanks and RBA's (though they are considered "advanced" I think with all the youtube videos and instructional advice here on ECF anyone can use a rebuildable atomizer if I can).

And I don't even want to talk about all the wasted juices I bought, but had I not I never would have found the flavors I truly like. And I would have started DIY sooner to save money in order to "splurge" on store bought juice.

Dont get into the habit of always chasing the latest and greatest promoted product with limited supply, many times you can win on some really nice machined stuff but many a time and especially with Chinese product it's not so hot ( I have nothing against the Chinese ) but they throw a ton of new junk at us every week, heck almost every other day something new is getting throw out there. I've found if it's really good product it will have many more made usually, as well as the price comes down after the hot marketing techniques they use wears off a bit,,, now like I said you can find some hot new products too, especially some of the better known modders in the USA, Greece, Germany, and even across the pond,,,, just check the specs really good, look for some reviews ( not that there always on the up and up,. but watch them,,, and let the product make its way into the market, if it's that good and accepted by the vapors they usually always make more runs of it, then buy it. My experience anyways :)

Not sure if there is a whole lot I would change. Had planned on buying a spendy setup, but bought a cheap impulse at a store. Makes me feel better about buying more expensive things, because I know I like vaping. Wish I wasn't so intimidated by the aspect of refilling. Seemed like a big hassle until I started doing it. All those cartos I tossed in the first month after 1 use.

Probably would've gone with a tube mod of some sort right off the bat, instead of stockpiling ego batteries that will eventually become garbage.

But looking back I spent so much time researching that I didn't end up with much I don't/didn't like and/or use.

I do know that I'm not exactly pleased with the emdcc, askton hughes mk-1 or the smok redux but those were my uneducated purchases.

Several, although I tend research everything to death before I buy. Like many new to vaping, I believed my first e-cigs needed to look similar to analogs. Not a week into it I was already tired of switching batteries every four hours and then neglecting to recharge them on a timely basis. About 3 weeks in I moved up to the eGo batteries, but that proved to not be enough to me, either.

About six weeks into vaping I got my first mods, and would have been satisfied with those except someone put a Kick and extender on my Silver Bullet to try higher voltage. Not too long after I got a Provari. I may have now reached the pinacle. But who knows? RBA next?

So, long story short, if I knew then what I know now, I would have totally skipped the mini-battery stage. Maybe even the eGo battery stage and started out with the mods first. Too much of a stretch to consider starting out with a Provari setup right out of the gate. :D

But in hindsight it probably would have saved me hundreds of dollars to have gone straight with a Provari. Oh well, its been a journey.

I would have skipped the Mystic set up but wouldn't replace any of the other steps. My husband jumped in a little faster than I did and has been using two mechanical mods with rebuildable atomizers for about two months now. We're going on our 4th months and I'm just now getting to the point where I'm ready to watch him and learn. The eGo/clearomizer set up I've been using is perfect for me. It's pretty cheap, super easy, not too messy once I got used to it and it's the set up we give friends when they express an interest in switching. About the only other thing I wish I had known: there isn't a true cigarette "taste" out there. I don't want it now but I feel like I chased it for too long and almost gave up switching because of it.

If youre in it for the long haul like I hope most of us are, then replacement Ego Twist batteries can add up quick. 6 of those at 24.99 over a one year period is almost equal to the price of a Provari. You still have to buy batteries for that but at 10.99 for an 18650 from RTDvapor or another supplier that Provari actually starts saving you money after a year or two.

Would have taken review more seriously and jumped into a bigger battery mod from the beginning. Thou I cant say I regret starting small as I now have a few pay it forward gifts on hand to help some friends who might want to try vaping without the inital 'jump in investment'. Even though it is a minor cost, sometimes its enough to keep one from actually crossing the line to try.

Guess What? Yes, another Provari w/did rba. Went from cig.alike to this in 2wks. Wish I could say 1wk,but I was on vacation at the time.
I just really wanted to make sure I did not go back to cigs! I had the cig.alike for fall back, but the rba was easy & w/ss wick is awesome.
With the help of all ECF-Thank you-It was easy. I did not mind the size after 2 days, because it works! Only prob. was I broke the clear tank that came w/did with my strong menth. juice(noob) Best wishes

Spend at least one month with your latest PV before buying another.

As others have said, you can buy until your wallet is empty, but you can only vape one at a time. What one person says is great, another will say is trash (the ProVari being one of the few exceptions to this). If you are happy with an ego, stick with it. If not, wait a month, try something new. PVs aren't pokemon - you don't gotta collect them all! ;-)

Im interested in trying the DID.Hopefully at the next local vapemeet in Janauary I can try a few out. So far Im leaning towards the Cobra or ZAP but Im a hands on kinda guy so that might change. Im also looking at quality of materials like fused quartz or Pyrex and stainless steel. Pretty much something thats gonna be as rock solid as my Provari thats also easy to rebuild by someone with fat little fingers.
