Posting in the new members area, since this is such a newbie error... And, now that I'm home, the whole thing sort of amuses me.
OK--first time travelling anywhere since becoming an e-cigarette user, and I was kind of apprehensive about it, especially the flying aspects. It was a two-day business stay in Las Vegas. I figured I'd travel light--three 510s and two bottles of juice (because of the security stuff about liquids). OK, what am I forgetting? Oh yeah--battery charger. Up to now, I hadn't seen much value in the PCC as my normal routine (seven batteries, a multi-charger at home and a USB to connect to a wall charger in the car) never let me down. So, I actually did remember about the charger on the long drive to the airport, and planned to stow the wall-car charger in my bag. Then...
Richmond's airport shuttle drivers provide the usually wonderful service of stalking drivers as they park and picking us up on the spot, instead of making us walk to a bus stop. Wonderful, except when this happens I tend to start feeling in a rush so as not to make the driver wait. When this happens, I make mistakes. Always. Mistake #1: I FORGOT TO GRAB THE CHARGER! Mistake #2: I forgot to grab my cigarettes! (I still let myself smoke, usually around 5 a day, and still loving about two of those. But obviously, I've already blunted my obsession for always keeping cigarettes on my person), and those three 510 batteries weren't going to keep me going for a 2-day trip. All of this I realized about 15 seconds after mounting the shuttle bus.
My PVs and juice didn't even elicit any comments or questions at security. A tiny forgotten pocket knife in my toiletry kit did, though. Bye-bye to that... I did a little stealth vaping unnoticed on my flight--just enough to make a world of difference on the 4-5 hour flight. But I knew to a certain extent I was going to revert to being a a smoker again. ("Heck," I am a smoker no matter what until the lid is closed, but I'd rather be a smoker who doesn't smoke.) So, I had to get cigarettes. LV airport price: $10.02 for a pack of Marlboros--and the don't sell 100s, for gosh sakes. Yow!
So that's how it worked out. I still kept a bit of a lid on my smoking, vaping conservatively enough that battery #3 had some life for the flight back. Smoked much more than I usually let myself, but still well under my old level. (Vaped in the casino without any questions/comments from the many smokers I encountered. Odd.) Reunited with the green glow of a charged battery in the car for the drive home.
Anyway, I now wonder: in the situation I was in, and being as I was in Las Vegas, were there any re-charging or battery purchasing alternatives I overlooked? (I don't mean any of the many things I might have done like remembering the charger or already owning a PT. Could I have found 510 batteries or a charger in Vegas??)
