i know someone will jump on this....i have a trident rda and am looking to add an extra wick after the "body" is installed to add to the time before a dry (harsh)hit. my coil (single) is .8 flat kanthal around 3 mml ekowool and work extremely well for me. 4/3 wrap tight gives me .75-.8 ohm. great flavor and awesome vapor production. i am looking to add capacity . i have tried laying a short piece of ekowool on the opposite side of the coil but i know there is a better way and since i am new to dripping thought you guys might enlighten me. thanks in advance. Everything you're doing might be, at this point in time, considered "old school". The wraps, resistance and wick pattern used aren't used too much anymore... if you are to believe that all the small diameter, low resistance, compressed (touching) coils with cotton wick are any indication of a larger representation of RDA users. You being new, allows you to continue with experimentation, and move forward to what ever level is comfortable for you, at your own pace.

Be that as it may, I would suggest using pieces of unrolled, organic or sterile cotton balls as your "extra time" wicking medium. As Ekowool and cotton have different capillary rates and retention abilities, if you could insure that the cotton is either functioning as a "bed" for the Ekowool, or in some way "attached" to it, so that juice can transfer from one medium to the other with a minimum amount of effort, that would be preferred.

An alternate is to have a cotton "cloud" above and in close contact with your Ekowool - to function both as an absorption/retention medium when dripping - and as a gravity/capillary transfer device to the Ekowool. The cotton can come in close contact with the coil, however, insure that there is sufficient airway around at least 70% of the coil for good cooling and a vapor flow effect.

In any case, the idea is to have cotton for your additional juice retention, and positioned in such a way that transfer of juice from one wicking medium to the other, is impaired as little as possible.
