So what is the ideal ohms you should be running a genny atty so it doesn't dry burn the wick? I'm using silica 2mm because I'm new so idk about SS mesh yet. I cant get great clouds im using a Pulse-G because it starts to dry burn. And also is turning the mod upside down while hitting it absolutely necessary if its top feed? Because my boy always hits his top feed genny upside down said it lets the juice flow better. Thanks.

Try cotton, it wicks a little better. Look at youtube for some build ideas....it's easier to watch someone do it than it is to type and read. About a 1 ohm coil works well for me and dont over stuff the coil or you will choke off the flow of juice. With cotton, less is more. Theres some tipping with " auto dripping" a genny, but I don't have to turn it upside down to hit it. You shouldn't have to do that. Also, make sure your airhole is lined up with the coil.

I had awful issues with all my gennys until I discovered SS Cable/Wire. My RSST is now my favorite atty. I use 3mm cable and wrap the top part only with SS mesh to prevent shorts/hot spots with the coil directly on SS cable. I tend to stay around .9-1.2ohms and drilled out my air hole. I also vape with the juice plug out. Never have any problems with this set up. Hope this helps!

I've always used SS mesh wicks and they have served me very well. At the same time I've read many posts here by those who had a good deal of trouble with them. I've not had those problems myself, but these folks are clearly having the problems and can't sort it out. I'm not sure why.

I just roll my wicks from a 3 inch long strip of mesh, folded over on the outside end and well oxidized on both sides. I roll mine tight and coil them with 26 kanthal 5/4 wrap for .7 ohm and it works wonderfully well after I nudge out the hot spots with a dental pick, which is easy to do and doesn't take long. This wick goes into my RSST, which is a snap to build.

I've been using a Q-tip stick to wind the coil on, the plastic ones, they are just the right size. I wind the coil on it, silp that stick into the wick hole on the RSST, lock down both ends, pull out the Q-tip stick and slip the wick into it, twisting it as it goes into the coil in the direction it's rolled in, check for a hard short and ohms, then pulse it while working out the hot spots with my dental pick. This never takes long.

When working out hot spots be gentle, those coil loops get really soft under heat and will move with very little pressure.

Just my :2c:

I have an RSST and use a steel cable as well, and have tried sing the mesh at the top. I can taste the mesh, if that makes sense. I've oxidized, torched, re-torched the hell out of it and I just can't get rid of the taste of metal. After some research i learned about a technique of rolling VERY little cotton around where you put the coil. When I say little, I mean hardly any; just enough to BARELY coat the top. With that method I get decent flavor and it wicks quite well.

I've seen others post that same problem, but I've never yet run into it myself, and I've always used just straight 400 mesh. I must say I'm quite mystified as to the reason others have this problem.
