I've heard of people having trouble sleeping when quitting smoking, but has anyone had it even when they go the e-cig route?

For a while when I started e-cigs I was still smoking one or two analogs a day, and was sleeping fine. Since I cut out analogs completely I haven't been able to sleep more than 4 or 5 hours a night. I fall asleep alright but then I wake up and it's still dark out.

This is very out of character for me as I was always one of those people who could sleep for 14 hours straight if left alone. Now I'm lucky if I get 5, and I start getting tired in the afternoon.

I know the obvious answer, that quitting is a big change to my system and my body might need to time to get used to it, etc, but I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this, and how long it lasted.

Last year I came down with pnemonia, and tried quittng both cigs, and something else that I smoke. ;) Well I was not able to sleep. The Doc gave me perscroption sleeping pills, of various strengths, and none of them put me to sleep. They made me groggy but did not allow me to sleep.

He finally gave me some ativan, which is not a sleeping pill, but rather a med that allowed me to relax. I would take one about an hour before I wanted to sleep, and my body would relax itself enough to shut down and let me sleep.

So quitting just made me unable to consciencely shut my system down and go to sleep.

I haven't noticed any difference since quitting the analogs and only using the ecig. If anything i probably sleep better.

I'm probably not the best person though because i ony get on average 6 hours sleep a night. Weekends i'll maybe sleep 7 at a max. I will still wake up around 4:30 then go back to sleep for a while. I don't get much chance to sleep in. Haven't done for years so i have gotten used to it.

Yes, i'm having problems sleeping! I started on e-cigs just over two weeks ago and since then i've been having trouble sleeping. When i go to bed i can't get to sleep, it seems to take forever for me to nob off.

When i wake up in the morning i'm very tired as i've only really had a few hours. Once i've properly woke up then that its, i'm wide awake for the rest of the day and don't seem to get tired even much later on. I then end up going to bed when i'm not really that tired then i have the problem again of not being able to get to sleep.

I must be down to the e-cig and not coming off the analogues as in the past i've skipped the analogues for a few days and had no problems. The only couple of times i've gone straight to sleep is when i've had a skin full!

I found that when I smoked analogs, if I didn't have one right before bed, then falling asleep was a disaster. They say don't smoke before bed, but like with everything, I am the opposite.

Suggestion: Lay in bed and smoke/vape your heart out. Get your nic fix, in bed. It has worked for me.

Also, another suggestion, something I use just to relax me: Calm Thoughts. It is an herbal supplement and I find that it works great. Calm Thoughts Kava 90 tabs from SOURCE NATURALS

There might have been something else in the tobacco that your body relied on for something and that might be affecting you... the lack of its presence.???

When I first started vaping I couldn't wait to go to bed because I was having such great vivid dreams and remembering them when I woke up!....some of them were quite naughty....I am amazed there was never a nun in any of them....lol. ......sadly the dreaming has worn off now and my sleeping is back to normal.....sigh.

I had a really difficult time sleeping when I gave up smoking and started vaping.

Try melatonin. It's a natural suppliment you can find in almost all drugstores. It is a hormone that your body creates any way so you don't feel groggy when you get up.

I use it at least 4 times a week. I like that I can take it at midnight if I need it and still be able to get up at 4:30.

Good luck.:)

Since I started vaping I sleep much less. Now for me this is a good thing as I use to be tired ALL THE TIME! Went to sleep study and everything (it was determined that I was not going into a REM phase) the dr had put me on sleeping pills but I started waking up in the middle of the night and couldn't get back to sleep and was still tired all the time. Now I sleep about 5hrs and I'm good for the rest of the day, although I do have more trouble waking up in the morning. Guess you can't have everything lol.

Charlie - Honestly? I probably AM overdoing it. However, if I am, I was overdoing it in the beginning too, while I was still smoking a couple analogs a day. If a nicotine overdose is the problem then I probably should've had trouble sleeping back then too, maybe more so, but I didn't. It's only been since I cut out the analogs completely -- and before bed was one of the times when I'd have one before.

Lacey - I think I vape plenty as it is before bed... no, not actually IN bed, but I'm not sure how big a difference that would make. Vaping just doesn't give me that relaxed knocked-out feeling I got from analogs, no matter how much I do it. Could be that the vapor lacks the poison that was knocking me out. Perhaps I'll try hitting my head against something rigid before bed instead.

Briles & Lacey - I've never purchased an herbal remedy before. Isn't that a chick thing? Next thing you know I'll be buying a lhasa apso and criticizing people's shoes. :) If this continues to be a problem maybe I'll give it a shot though, thanks. And thanks to everyone else for the suggestions, and the nun sex dream talk, which I feel comfortable admitting made me happy.

I've had a crazy month of sleep habits since I quit analogs.

The 1st 2 weeks- all I wanted to do was sleep. Day and night!

Last 2 weeks- I have a normal night about every other night (6 hrs) and not so normal night (3 hrs) but it does seem to be stabilizing. The dreams have been fun too. (Maybe a preist or 2 but no nuns, sorry Kate.)

I tried some chamomile tea (caffein free) and it has seemed to helped me.
