Trouble sticking to it, anyone else?

True this. One time, I went into my garage to have a vape, and instead lit up a smoke. I didn't even realize I was lighting it until the first puff, all because I left the smokes where the PV was supposed to be. I now vape more because I put the PV right where the smokes always used to be.

the first night I took my vaporizer to work, I had a pack of smokes in my car. Went out for my break, boom. Lit up a cigarette. Didn't even think about it. Timing myself between analogs, finding ways to 'supplement' the habit with the vaporizer instead of the analogs, and generally relearning habits....definitely hard. But worth it.

how many ecig brands did you try and juices? maybe cigalikes arent for you like they werent for me, now im using mech mods

Hey there. New here at ECF, but not new to vaping. I have vaped on and off for 3 years or so, have quit cigarettes for over a year at one point, even quit vaping in that time. Somehow I always fall back to the smokes and I can't say why. I feel better when I don't smoke and I definitely breath better! I started smoking at a very early age (10). I had an older sister who smoked, she and her friends thought it was funny to get me to smoke too. I wonder if the fact that my body actually developed and grew with this crap being pumped into it has something to do with it. Just wondering if anyone else has experience trouble staying off the cigarettes even though they enjoy vaping more and know they feel better? All I know is I have even more sympathy than ever for all addicts of substances!!!! It's frustrating and I get down on myself, but I keep trying. :(

but I keep trying. :(

Just keep doing that and don't judge yourself or be hard on yourself, and most of all, NEVER compare yourself to others.

You will manage to succeed if you keep trying and if it is your DESIRE to be cigarette-free. Sometimes it takes a long time and also, you have to try a lot of different stuff to get there.

Try different vaping gadgets, try WTA, but also try other forms of harm reduction. (snus, etc.)

Yeah, my first attempt was with those overpriced mall kiosk cigalikes, not good! After that I went to the egoT b type and a couple other crappy pen styles. They actually worked for me for a while, but didn't stick. Now I am running a Vamo with a Nautilus tank. It does take a while to find what works for you, I learned tobacco flavored juice does not work for me, weird since I was such a heavy smoker for 30+ years, but it just doesn't. Live and learn right? :)

Danbrooks brutal honesty may not be what it takes to make you quit. He used medical terms and imagery which, for most reasonable people, will make them lay down those coffin nails and walk away....for a minute.

This is why I loved Allan Carr's book, the easyway to quit smoking. It's been in print for decades and still getting 5 stars.

Because he DOESN'T use any of the scare tactics or graphic horror stories, he gently uses very subtle behavioral shifts and......they work. Read it while continuing to smoke, etc.

when you are done reading it you will have gained a tremendous amount of insight......into YOURSELF. :)

It works. That's all I gotta say, and I rarely see anyone suggesting reading material here, just buy buy buy more stuff, but you have to have OTHER TOOLS to quit an addiction. And this is one of them to add to your arsenal (and I bring it up not often enough.)

PS and no bash on Dan..the gorey stuff does work on some people, it's just another "route" to change things inside your mind/head. It's all good

That is a great book, I have recommended it to many people who went on to quit after reading it . :)

I took the advice of a friend and got myself an eleaf iStick vv/vw and just picked up my second nautilus mini tank. I gotta say, amazing rig. I have been cigarette free for 3 days now, where before I had cheap crappy tanks and batteries that just didnt do it for me. My new rig is awesome and I love it. I still have cravings because vaping doesn't have all of the carcinogens and other chemicals that tobacco smoke has. That's what your cravings are. You get what you pay for, find a good rig and get yourself a nautilus mini or a kanger pro tank and a good mod. Find the right juice and you will make it! I smoked a pack a day of marb lights and I use 12mg nic level with a 50/50 vg/pg juice. I have a 75/25 vg/pg but you dont get that throat hit with higher vg. Keep at it and you will quit smoking with the right equipment!

Got home tonight and opened my vapemail, added half a dropper of WTA juice to to about 3ml of juice and all I can say is WOW! That is it, this is what is going to get me over that hump. I am usually pacifier vaping like crazy, 3 pulls off that tank and I set it aside quite content. I may even cut back on how much I add to my juice next tank. I will wean myself back to regular nic juice, but this is definitely going to keep me off the smokes! Thank you to everyone that suggested it! You guys ROCK! :vapor:

I was where you were about when the nautilus came out i and i had the exact same set up. my downfall was chewing tobacco though. I would chew tobacco all day long always had a dip in my mouth at work.when i got home i would use my vamo 5 and my nautilus with some cheap 24mg ejuice from the gas station. I liked the nautilus alot but i kept geting dry hits and i seen all these people blowing clouds with drippers and talking about the amazing flavor they had. I mean i was hooked when i saw the clouds and the faces they had while vaping so i went out and bought a cheap Igo-W dripper which is like 20 bucks and some 30 gauge kanthal wire which was another 8.95. I watched a bunch of videos on you tube on battery safety and coil building and figured out how low i could build on my vamo and i havent looked back since.

So far I haven't had a smoke in 2 weeks. Vaping just feels better for me. Plus I don't stank

Congrats on sticking with it LavaLampHero! That smell right!? I work with a lot of smokers and every time they come in from a smoke break I think about how bad I used to smell!

hah yeah I don't like tobacco flavored juices, I went right to those thinking yeah itll be the same and also used the cigalikes but didn't want to try mods or tanks because they looked nothing like real cigs

then I found myself going to a black ecig with blue led light with v2 so people wouldn't think im smoking, I think it was v2cigs juices I didn't like to be honest, once I tried a nice premium brand, halo, then I was good and have been since

I still vape my triton but I like using my mech mod but I will never stop praising or buying halo tribecca since that got me to quit after 23 years

I just saw this thread, and didn't feel like reading 8 pages, but I'm really glad you found out about WTA, that's exactly what I would suggest to anyone who found it hard going with just nicotine. My first time, I was so high about quitting smoking, I never had a single craving, but after my appendectomy in June, cravings just clobbered me, for a lot of good reasons -- 4 days without vaping, extreme stress, and the obvious severe digestive malfunctions -- I went back to smoking for a month, managed to quit again, and then on day 10 smoke-free, cravings clobbered me AGAIN! But I had acquired some WTA already, I added it, and the cravings disappeared as if my magic. Also no emotional dysfunctions as I suffered a little bit, the first time, just smooth sailing.

I was mixing 25mg unflavored WTA at 10% into my ejuice, for about 5 months; at the first of the year, I dropped that to 9%, and next month 8%, and so on, until I can very slowly wean off it -- I want no more of those godawful cravings, but I need to stop spending that much money, it's so expensive. I figure slow and easy is the way to do it.
