It's so true that vaping will never be smoking. I still think about cigarettes sometimes, but after about 11 months of only vaping I turned a corner where cigarettes stopped being an option for me. I just could never smoke again. That is a miracle!

Good luck to all of us! Thanks for the great discussion LeftofCenter.

Ya know, I don't want vaping to be like smoking, I hate smoking!! I made a decision to not get tobacco juices ever and got gear that does not in any way look like or remind me or smokes because I wanted it to be something else. I have been looking at vaping as a new experience, yes in a way it replaces my old one, but in as few ways as possible. :)

Try to think of it this way... "the Good thing that will and would happen" and the "Before and After" of things... focusing on the "Changes".
(btw, I work in an office.)

1.) You save money: Before, I tend to use my last penny to buy a pack of Marlxxro Lights over a sandwich and coffee. Now, as I CAN save more, I CAN spend them on 2 sandwiches and 2 coffee. or more.

2.) Your Breath smells better: Even I brush my teeth after every meal, I still smell like an ashtray. Now, my colleagues does not say: "You just Smoked did you?" as they step a pace back.

3.) You work 'More' efficient saving more time: Before, I have to ride the elevator from 15th floor to the ground then goto the lobby all the way ourside to smoke "half" that cigarrette and hurry back up to my office. Now, I CAN goto our office toilet or balcony have a PUFF or 2 OR "Stealth VAPE" as I Puff "Under my Table"... and I CAN be done with it then go back to what I'm doing... (Yes, I WAS such a HEAVY smoker a "Chain-Smoker" before. I smoke 2 packs a day for 30+ years.)

4.) You look more "High-Tech" with an E-Cig than an Analog: My set-up is a Vamo V6 + Aspire Nautilus 5ml (with that hollowed stainless steel tank) which attracts a lot of attention especially my female colleagues... they even told me to put "Blings" on my MOD. LOLZ!

5.) No more smoking out doors especially Winter Cold nights: Before, I would walk blocks just to buy a pack even if it's 2 in the morning. Now, I can vape in our room while writting/typing this reply.

6.) FREEDOM: Before, I can't do what I want (Smoking) anwhere I WANT. Now, I CAN.

I remember when i was young... me my mom and dad would goto watch a movie, eat at a restaurant, walk in a park, goto the ZOO.. they CAN smoke. Now, ALL the places I mentioned are ALL NO SMOKING. You can't even smoke in your own private areas like my own house (my wife would complain) inside my car while driving... (you get FINED by the police here in Taiwan), you can't even smoke while riding a scooter. (You get FINE by the police) Somehow, I (SMOKERS) felt like being driven out of the community more and more. NON-Smokers say "YOU ARE RUINING OUR AIR..while gasping for air) Hey step away a bit you smell bad... you just smoked. Slowly we are being Quarrantined slowly as they name MORE and MORE Places and Venues that would be labelled as "NO SMOKING ZONE." Hey ! Air is free... how come NON-SMOKERS feel the "AIR" is only theirs?

So, when you realize and think of what I just said, "You NOW have a Choice" to VAPE and be FREE (OR INVISIBLE.. you can stealth vape) OR stay ans be a PRISONER of Smoking Analogs. Your choice !

For me, I JUST got tired of all those people, Government, and to all those who claim that they are "POLUTION FREE CLEAN PEOPLE".. I Quit Analogs for good because I "Just" got freakin' tired of their freakin' BS. NOW, they CAN impose all the NO SMOKING in the whole of Taiwan all they Freakin' want ! HAHAHAHA... They CAN"T HURT me anymore... Blehhhh !!!

I Still blame the Freakin' Govenment that they don't WANT and NOT Giving E-Cig a chance. Instead they are "PROTECTING THE TABACCO INDUSTRY HERE" and telling people that E-Cig is more Dangerous than Smoking Analogs. IF the Govenment really wants smokers to stop smoking... THEY CAN BAN Tabacco Industries from selling Analogs. BUT, the people in the freakin government (ALL OVER THE WORLD) are ALL Freakin Corrupt.

As I mentioned it before: "Vaping is the next evolution to Smoking."

i love 80's. one of the saying on soldier of fortune t-shirt was.. "peace through superior fire power". get enough vapor volume to overwhelm yourself to a point where you feel the smoke can't compete with it.. at least that's what i did. started smoking when i was 12, and smoked 35 yrs before started vaping. first day i got my setup ready was last day i smoked.

Figure what you would spend for a months worth of cigarettes. Take a portion of that money and spend it on juice. Make sure you have a good set up for vaping, a good back up and plenty of coils, cartos, kanthal, cotton ect.

At bed time throw out any remaining cigarettes and lighters, make sure the cigarettes are crushed beyond recognition so you dont dig them out of the trash ( anybody? )

When you wake up immediatley start vaping, get a good dose of nicotine and pick a strong flavored juice. I did this on my day off of work when I knew I wouldnt have to smell or be around anyone smoking.

Every day you smoke cigarettes you do more damage to your lungs. I am a paramedic. I can not tell you how many times I have had to suction the airway of a patient with a tracheostomy. Have you ever watched someone go into respiratory failure, gasping for air? I have tried my very best to save the lives of patients suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease ( COPD ) caused from smoking cigarettes for years..

If you dont quit smoking, you will die. If you are lucky it will be from a massive stroke or myocardial infaction ( heart attack ) it will be painful, but shouldnt last long. If you are unlucky you will spend days or weeks in an intensive care unit with an endotracheal tube down your throat and a resirator breathing for you. You will have IVs in each arm and a foley catheter in your urethra. You will be fed by way of a naso gastric tube, the thick liquid they pump into that food looks and smells horrible. Fortunatley you will be able to deficate on your own, unless your constipated from the opiates thay are using to sedate you. You may have wrist restraints on for your own safety to prevent you from pulling out your endo tracheal tube. If you finally deficate on your own you will lay in it until the nurse or nurses aide makes her rounds and decides to clean you. Hopefully she will try to keep you clean and roll you so you dont develop decubitus ulcers ( bed sores )... Kinda makes me want a marlboro just thinking about it... YUM!

But hey, what do I know... we are all going to die anyway, I would just hate to die in that horrible conditon because I couldnt muster enough self control to quit a deadly, filthy habit.

Those were some really tough and graphic things I just said. Now I will say this.

WE are here for you. You can do it. You will feel better. Your family will have you around longer. You wont be subsadizing an industry guilty of putting chemicals into a product to keep you addicted. The only thing keeping you from quitting is you... and we are here for support and to help you!

I believe this post just about sums it up nicely. Hate to say it, but sometimes the graphic and ugly truth of the matter is what it takes.
Compared to THIS, switching to vaping is a walk in the park.

Get yourself set up with decent equipment and backups. Spend the time to find yourself several juices with flavors you like, and get these flavors in both strong and medium nic content for the early stages. All I ever did when I started vaping was to vape some stronger juices heavily when I got the urge, which killed off the serious urges (after which I had no real desire for a cigarette). Just be prepared to lean heavily on the vapor in the early stages, and then try to actually recognize that your urge for nicotine is satisfied. (I used to consciously recognize and tell myself after vaping that I have all the nicotine that I needed, and that I don't need a cigarette. I think this constantly reinforced the fact that I did not want need or want a stinky. The vapor really does satisfy! I think the idea for me was to just make sure that I killed the urge.)

If this works for you after a few weeks to a few months, you may find that the nic level is too much. It is then relatively easy to gradually reduce nic content once you get past the early stages.

Best of luck with this. You can DO THIS!

One of the main issues of vaping as a means of quitting combustible cigarettes is nicotine strength. Many of the pre packaged and pre mixed devices look enticing and easy to use. However the nicotine strength is around 12mg. This is usually not enough to satisfy your nicotine cravings. Use 18 or 24 mg nicotine liquids and I think you will see your cravings decrease.

The other hurdle is the craving for a cigarette. We have taught our bodies that when our system is low on nicotine the way to fix it is to light up. We now have to unlearn that habit and replace it. When you get an urge for a cigarette pick up your vaporizer. You will see that after a few puffs that craving is gone.

Lastly for those of you that want the taste of a cigarette to satisfy your cravings pick up a bottle of Dura True.

Hope that helps

The higher nic juices always hit my throat too hard and I end up coughing a lot, doesn't seem to matter how I adjust pg/vg or power or tanks. 12mg is the most my throat can handle for some reason. I am anxiously awaiting my WTA delivery in hopes that it will be the missing link to get me over the last hurdle. I have actually caught myself vaping and smoking at the same time! Didn't even realize I was doing it at first, I actually prefer the taste of my vaporizer, but every now and again it just doesn't get me through. I am doing well though, only had about 1/2 a stick today so that for me is a win and I will be happy with the progress. Maybe tomorrow will be even better!

I think you'll enjoy the WTA. I get mine from Aroma and from Mother's Milk. I find a WTA vape in the morning and sometimes in late afternoon is the key to not wanting a cig.

The way I do it is this: I have a dripper set up with WTA. I make sure to pick it up first thing in the morning and vape WTA to get my 'big dose'. Then after I'm satisfied, I switch over to regular e-juice in another dripper or a tank or whatever.

This helps in two ways: 1) No more cigs! 2) WTA costs a bit more, but using my method I only vape a little bit of it each day, thus economizing my use of it.

Don't vape WTA all day long. Remember, the WTA is stopping your withdrawal by giving you things you *are* addicted to. So don't go and accidentally get yourself more hooked.

Hope this helps!

I ordered some from Mothers Milk, I am on a budget and just couldn't justify Aromas price. I was thinking of keeping a small backup tank loaded with it so I can hit it when the urge is strong. Hoping that will give me that edge I need to get me through. I really do hate smoking at this point, but no matter what I try to push through the anxiety it overwhelms me sometimes. I know I can do it though, just hoping the WTA will smooth the road a little.

Don't get down on yourself, your not alone. I quit analogs for almost 2 years ( I was down to 0-6mg of nicotine) and started smoking about 3 months ago, not really sure what I was thinking when I bought that pack of cigs. I was right back to my pack a day in no time. Hate the way I feel, so I am again attempting to quit. In the last 4 days I have gone from a pack a day down to 3. I feel 10 times better already. Ordered a whole bunch of new juices can't wait to try them out. So much better tasting then my nasty Newport lights ;) Wishing you luck!!!

Have you tried a higher level of nicotine for when your urges get to strong. Not that I should be giving advice smoked a analog about 10mins ago ;(

It happens, at least you are trying to get back to the vape! Hope you are doing better!

As a newb here also, I was drawn to this thread, as I am also kind of 'dual smoking' at the moment. However, I try not to get down on myself about it. I've made vast improvements (1.5-2packs a day, down to .5 pack a day). I'll keep trying if you will. Otherwise, we can just move away together and start a tobacco farm and make millions.

This may sound a little silly, but as I smoke inside the house during the winter, (especially during knitting binges) I have found a little trick that helps me. #1) REMOVE ALL ASHTRAYS. Then I put my vaporizer to my right on the end table, right where I would put down my cigarette. This helps me to kind of replace the habit of picking something up and smoking. It sort of becomes a cigarette that never goes out.

True this. One time, I went into my garage to have a vape, and instead lit up a smoke. I didn't even realize I was lighting it until the first puff, all because I left the smokes where the PV was supposed to be. I now vape more because I put the PV right where the smokes always used to be.

You may have already found teh answers you were looking for but just wanted to throw in my two cents. I also have quit many times with vaping in the last few years only to slip back to smoking. However, even though I'm only 3 weeks in this time has been completely different for me because of these forums. Everytime I have an urge I'll jump on here and read a few forums. Unfortunately, for me this has lead to me ordering stock piles of sample size liquids cause everyone loves so many different juices that I want to try them all. But it has definitely kept my mind off analogs. Hope it does the same for you!

This forum seems to be helping me a lot! The last time I started back up I kept between 1/2 to 1 PAD which was good for me. My last pack lasted a week and most of those I didn't even smoke the entire thing, just a few puffs and then I would toss them. I tossed the last one this morning and I am not buying another pack. I don't care if I have to strap my vaporizer to my mouth! I dual smoked/vaped a lot, quit smoking and just vaped, went back to smoking only then back to dual and then vaping...etc... It's a rollercoaster, but the ride has to end eventually, we can do it! Just keep doing what you're doing and working toward vaping more. Keep reading the forum posts too, it seems to help me anyway. Good luck Chemicalemily!!
