Hey guys, I just purchased a Protege back in November and have been putting it to work overtime. I love it to death until recently it stopped working. What is the best way to find out what went wrong, I immediately thought it could be the switch. But before I go and buy a new $30 mechanical switch is there any chance it could be the atomizer/batteries/etc? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your time,
-Ethic

Problem is it only came with one atomizer, so I'm not sure how to rule the atomizer out. Before I even purchased the Protege I watched Casey's videos on how to properly attach the atomizer. It worked great since November, but then just suddenly stopped. I guess I will shoot an e-mail over to PS.

Hey Ethic ... You should always keep atleast 4-5 atomizers handy. This is the 1 part of the ecig that tends to fail quite often. When 1 goes down, you have a spare, and so on and so forth :) Could very well be the switch as well. If I were you, I would get the mechanical switch for the lifetime warranty it offers (its $20, not $30) and atleast 4-5 atomizers... then you should be set for quite some time!

Hey Ethic,

When you bought your protege, you bought it to work for a particular model of atomizer. This is the model of atomizer you want to buy in the future. for example... I bought the protege with 901 adaptor. This means, when my atomizers die I need to replace them with the 901 atomizers. I do not need to buy a new adapter. Just the atomizer.

In your case, all you need to do is buy the atomizer that fits with the adapter of the protege you bought. By default, full kits come with an adapter you choose during the purchase process. If you are not sure which one you bought, I am sure Casey could help you find it.

Also, you will want to order atomizers of about 5 at a time. At least this is what I do. When I get down to the last two... I order another 5. This is so I do not go without. Much like the situation you are in now. :(

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input, I was wondering if the 901 adapter that PS sells will work on the protege though? That way I can just order the adapter instead of waiting to send these two back and wait for the 510s to get here.

I think what you are saying is you bought 2 new 901 atomizers but your protege came with the 510 adaptor? If this is the case, yes, you can buy the 901 adapter. The protege was made to work this way so you are not stuck with a device that will only work with a certain atomizer.

As long as the atomizer you buy matches the adapter you have or are going to buy match up in model numbers, you are fine. As Casey pointed out...

901 atomizer = 901 PS adapter
510 atomizer = 510 PS adapter
801 atomizer = 801 PS adapter
etc...

You can't get a 901 atomizer to work on a 510 adapter.

Ok sorry, this has all been very misleading. When I browse Pure Smoker's website I click on The Protege link and then it lists all the products that I assume work with it. When I follow the adapter link for it there is no option for a 901 adapter only the 801 and 510. Does this mean that the 901 adapter that works for the Prodigy will not work with the Protege? Sorry, but I don't want to order something else that still won't work with my protege.
