I would say affordable and I prefer regulated since I don't have any experience with unregulated mods. I guess I would be a tootle-puffer? I vape at 7.0 Watts, 1.5ohms. I also only use mods that have a replaceable battery.

Definitely a Provari 2.5 then. Replaceable batteries. 18350/18500 or 18500/18650 size depending on what's your pleasure. Stainless steel 510. Reputation for being pretty much indestructible. Provape does repairs if needed. (And repairs are still a gray area regarding the regulations if it's determined they can no longer be sold. So stay tuned regarding that point.)

You can actually vape as low as 0.9 ohm on a Provari 2.5, so it's not exactly an "ego battery" experience either. At Provape's current pricing you won't find more durable or more quality for less.

I prefer a mix. A few higher end mods and a bunch of less expensive mods. Which is why mods like the Pico are so nice. A good short term track record (pretty nice to see with any relatively new product), a replaceable battery, and it's very affordable.
This is my approach, too. "Trusted Brands" IMO means 1) REOs Mods and then names like Hexohm, ProVari, and of course some DNA varieties.

"Brands Likely to Survive a Year," however, opens up doors (again, just my opinion) like SOME IPV products, older Sigelei (100/150 original models), and others of that ilk.

Devices I would not trust to last a year, sadly, are some Smok products (I'm glad to be proven wrong; this is just what I've observed) and some newer models of some established names that don't, at least to me, feel solid or are more geared toward a trend rather than substance.

But I certainly have a mix. The IPV5 has been a solid performer for me and I have put a few of those eggs in my stockpile basket. I treat my mods very well and gently so I trust an RX200 to last me a year and I have a few of those. I also have a Pico but that was not purchased for stockpiling reasons although it has made its way into that pile anyway. There is the requisite (for some) ProVari but that is for my husband if he ever starts vaping. The only mods I have that I trust will outlast the rest are the REOs. Everything else is just what I am going to use in the meantime.

There are a few higher end mods in my collection I haven't mentioned. But there is an assortment from high to lower. There's no one brand or model I would trust implicitly*.

*ETA: I trust the REOs implicitly. But I like a variety. So if I had to have ONE brand, that would be the one.

And just to be really safe with any potential deeming fallout, a mech mod or two is a good idea. I just picked up a very nice silver Nemesis with a few kicks for at least a touch of protection when in use. I'm not really a mech mod user, but it does have the potential to be the last mod standing. Truly nothing to break other than the switch/button.

Avoid Smok, and perhaps Sigelli. Some of their late ones....

Yeah. I do have some Smok mods in my stockpile, though. Magnetic Bolts going for 5 bucks a pop and Zmax & Grippers for 10. I'm trying to have a mix of quality and quantity. Always have found Innokin to be solid and well made. I definitely want to grab a famous Provari too while I still can.
