I recently started having the occasional cig as e-cigs are banned in the place i'm currently visiting, and found that the taste is almost unbearable. Use to love smoking cigs, now it just tastes like straight tar. I found it really interesting. Has anyone felt this?
Its really amazing how our body adapts to things. Cigarettes are nasty after you have gone without them for a few days. I have tried to quit in the past and when I failed and had that cigarette I just about threw up. Its amazing how we can get hooked on something that tastes so bad. I mean honestly brussel sprouts taste bad to me but I dont sit there and continue to eat them LOL.

I've been vaping a couple of weeks now and when I get a craving for a cigarette I try to take in a higher nicotine juice. When that hasn't worked I've lit a cigarette and immediately put it out because it smells and tastes absolutely disgusting. I've lit the same cigarette 3 times and I will continue to do so until it falls apart OR I am not longer tempted. I can't believe I enjoyed them for over 25 years!

Over the 23+ years I was smoking, I quit several times for a few weeks or longer. Once for a few months. That first cigarette going back always tasted good to me.

When Sandy hit us, we lost power early and it was out for days (still had it far easier than many on the coast). I was about 2.5 weeks off smoking at that point. My batteries died, and I had no real way to recharge them (or so I thought), So I broke into my old stash of cigarettes... yeah, I still have some to this day in a drawer. I lit one up, took a puff, and damn near hit the pavement. It was the singularly worst thing I ever tried to inhale intentionally. It tasted HORRIBLE.

I immediately put it out. Racked my brain on how to recharge my batteries. Then it dawned on me that we have 3 laptops in the house. All 3 fully charged. :) I was able to keep my batteries charged and in use until the power returned.

I also went out and got a car charger at the first opportunity. ;)

About 6 weeks in, I again was an idiot and tried to take a drag. IDK why. Maybe to confirm I hated them now. I wasn't craving one. Same thing. Garbage.

Yeah... I'm done with them.

I went around my apartment and got rid of anything tobacco-related. My cigarette machine, 5 bags of tobacco, countless boxes of tubes, lighters galore (except for 2 zippos and a torch-type), and cigarettes bought. A little less than 2 months later I found half a pack in the back pocket of my passenger seat. I smelled them, thought about lighting one up "just to see" for a moment, then abruptly crushed them up and threw them out with all the other rubbish as I was cleaning out my car. That's as close as I had gotten to lighting up.

I admit, it still smells good for a brief moment when you walk past smokers, but when you think about everything you may have gone through in your life (i.e. gasping for air, pneumonia, bouts of bronchitis, asthma, etc.), you tend to keep walking, pull out your PV, and take a hit with a smile.

Same for me. I tried them twice so far. Couldn't even finish them ( winston ). They left a really bad aftertaste in my mouth. Never before have I been able to play with fire like that. Thank the heavens for Ecigs. :)))
I'm actually thinking of buying a pack of some real premium cigs to have one once in a while, now that I know I can do so without wanting to become a smoker again.

After 45 days off my cigars, my significant other is still smoking the rest of my stock and is not completely on vaping yet.
Took only 1 puff (did not inhale ;)) and needed to rinse my mouth of that aweful taste. Like others, when stopping in the past, the first analog always tasted like heavens, but since I have plenty of nicotine from my juice, there is no reason to like the burning tobacco and my brain knows that.

I had no idea I quit when I did, I went on vacation with my family(closet smoker) using disposable ecigs, the last cig I had was a bummed yellow American spirit, when I got back home I was almost sure I was going to go buy some Turkish Royals, but I talked myself out of it cuz I had already been quit 9 days. The last time I quit I had quit for 18 months with the gum(absolutely miserable), and one cig at a bar one night the next day I smoked a whole pack. I still want to smoke a T-roy just to say my last cig wasn't a nasty American spirit. I have been quit 6 months now though so I don't think I am going to ruin that run, I am done with those things forever now because of the ecig. They are amazing when it comes to helping quit smoking.

Eight months ago, when I made the successful switch over from smoking to vaping, I allowed myself three to four cigarettes a day initially while attempting to vape the majority of the time. As that first week passed, I could recognize a progressive dissatisfaction with the cigarettes smoked to the point that when that final pack was finished, so was I. I was pretty confident that I'd never buy another pack again, as I was truly loving this vaping. Didn't miss the smokes one bit.

Fast forward about three weeks later. I suddenly realized that I had allowed all four of my Volt stick batteries to become drained. With no way to vape without a charged battery, of course I was convinced that I need some nicotine NOW and I couldn't wait for the batteries to charge up. I made the short car ride down the street to the convenience store and purchased a pack of my long time favorites, Marlboro Menthol lights. I brought them home and proceeded to light up my first cigarette since I had quit.

Oh. My. Freaking. God. !!!

How foul and rank that first puff was. I could not finish the entire cigarette, as I was beginning to feel nauseous. I put the rest of the .... out and threw the rest of the pack into the trash. I somehow lasted until the Volts were recharged and then was fine. I haven't touched another cigarette since then, and have never allowed a battery to become drained without returning it to the charger.

Moral to the story: Follow the vapors' code by having "backup batteries for your backups". It's true, you can NEVER have too many CHARGED batteries available. Never allow yourself to be placed in the situation where you could have a weak moment and be tempted to purchase another pack of smokes. The same goes for e-liquid. Never run out.

I absentmindedly lit a cigarette one week into vaping. I took half a drag and spent the next 10 minutes in the bathroom gargling mouthwash and trying my hardest not to retch. That experience was more than enough to convince me that smoking again is not going to happen. However, many people smoke and vape for months so it seems the aversion to cigarettes after starting to vape is far from universal.

I finally quit the last few cigarettes a day I was smoking by comparing my ecig to a cigarette. I'd take a puff from each alternatively when I had my after meal smoke. What I discovered was that my ecig tasted good and my cigarette tasted like an ash tray. Yuck!

Doing that reinforced my thoughts that I could drop the cig and keep on vaping. Once I did, I never looked back.
