I love vaping. I enjoy it and it's very relaxing..

A couple months ago I stopped vaping because of a problem I had with my protank 2.. It leaked (not sure the proper term used) into my mouth non stop. I would clean it wash it. Fill it up with juice. Take one hit and all the juice would end up in my mouth. It got really annoying so I decided to rebuild the coil as I was recommended on this forum. I bought 2.5mm silica wick and a 32g kanthol wire. I watched grimmgreens video a ton of times and built over 15 coils. Unfortunately nothing helped.

A couple days ago I wanted to give vaping another try so I watched his video again and tried building another coil so it wouldn't leak into my mouth... I still had no luck. I pretty much have up on the protank 2. If anyone has had this problem and was able to fix it or knows of a video that fixes it. Please link me ( I've watched around 8 videos on this).

As I've pretty much given up on the protank 2. I'm looking for a higher end tank. One that I won't have to fiddle with at all and one that will produce great clouds and flavor. I don't really understand much about ohms but I heard for me the ideal ohm resistance is around 1.6-1.8.

I have a vamo v3 that I love. But unfortunately it's very beat up with juice due to all the leaking. One mod that I had my eye on was the SVD.

Other information

I vape a vamo v3

90% of the juices I have are 80vg 20pg

I'm looking for a higher end tank

A solution for my protank 2 problem if there is one

And maybe even a mod- one no bigger than the vamo v3 with an 18350 battery.

Please and thank you in advanced for any information or help this community gives me.

My friend why insist on this same clearo? go buy another they did not produce this for bad feelings. If there are people complaining leaking ok. If not you do something wrong.
I had a vivi nova clone. It leaked. I tried everything to avoid leaking. Learned some and we get along well still I had to be carefull say not to tighten top very much etc.
I bought a new one this time original vision vivi nova. It is perfect not a drop of leakage.

I have the Protank 2 Mini, and the Protank 3 as well as a Davide PT Clone. When I started vaping, I was getting all kinds of gurgle issues with everything I had from CE5 to the PTs. They have stopped. And I also stopped burning wicks hand over fist. I think it's a few things...

What PG/VG are you using? I use 80-100% VG. It's way thicker, and has fewer of these issues.

Heads are cheap. Like $1-1.25 each if you catch the sale, or order from the right places. Get authentic Kanger ones.

I replace my 'flavor wick' with boiled cotton. I think I leave mine thicker and longer than most, I have to use tweezers, or a dental pick to tuck the extra in so it doesn't get caught in the threads.

Don't chain vape. The wick needs to be wet, and have some time to absorb liquid between draws. Nice, mellow vaping. Smooth draws, and a little break between draws (30 sec will work, just something)

If using dark, sweet flavors like caramel or Dulce de Leche, your coils will get gummed up more frequently, and not burn as hot causing some of these issues. You will have to break it all down, clean with hot water or strong vodka, dry burn it, and replace the flavor wick.

If this isn't fixing the issue, I can't tell you. Perhaps inspect the whole thing? Make sure the o-rings are good, and that everything is seated well, and snugged up firm but not tight.

Try new heads before replacing the whole thing.

Hello and welcome to ecf.

I think part of the problem is the thickness of the juice you are using. for bdd coils a pg/vg 50/50 or a little thinner is usually better.
I would recommend an INNOKIN IClear 16. Coils at the top, easy to fill, just unscrew the mouth piece to fill. Then vape. Just make sure to keep the wicking saturated. That is accomplished by tilting the ecigs a couple of times every 6 hits or so. Easy, quick and painless. The unit can come apart cleaned with warm water or soaked in everclear overnight, dried throughly, and put back into the tank, reassemble, fill and vape.

Good Luck.

:)
Here is a link to what I am talking about. Just to give you an idea.

Funny you bring this up. I wanted to toss my Protank 2 and Mini out the driver window today. Tired of the gurgling. When they're working they're great, but I'm tired of the inconsistent performance. But I just got more 808 E-Smarts in today and as usual, working like charm. HHV Legend taste like a dish rag soaked with old water in the mini Protank, but in the top-coil E-Smart it tastes beautiful.

The lowly little E-Smart is Kanger's best tank. There I said it.

Protanks need a redesign.

When I use thinner juices, I get flooding with my Protank too(anything 50/50 or more pg-surprised you are having problem with a 80 vg/20 pg liquid since vg is thicker). What has worked for me and might not work for you is adding another flavor wick-I use boiled cotton ball cotton, let it dry, then take a small amount off and twist it so it's like same thickness of established wicks, add to top of 2 wicks, trim frayed edges with scissors(cuticle)-might take a couple of tries to find what thickness works for you and your liquid though. I HATE flooding and tinkering too-was getting ready to give up on protanks/evods, but since I liked the ease and convenience of the protank I tried this, and it worked and I am happy. You could try this, or there are many other nice suggestions for other tanks here too-good luck!

Sorry to hear of your troubles with the Kangers. They can get a bit 'temperamental' at times, but I watched Rip Tripper's video on micro coils. (sry, dont have a link) and it WORKS! I'm Vaping on a kanger mini protank right now on my Zmax v5 and it's just wonderful. I did exactly what he did, and got exactly the same results. I also have an Aspire BDC Vivi Nova Pyrex Tank, and that's a honey of a tank, let me tell you!

Please don't give up quite yet. Vaping is almost an 'acquired skill' and not like smoking in that regard. Nothing worth doing is easy! And also, I have learned, (thru this forum) that the Zmax is a better product. (Not bashing anyone that loves their Vamo)...just saying what the consensus seems to be thru other way more qualified members than me, that's why I purchased one and have been very impressed.

Good luck, and let us know how things go.

I have been using EVODs, ProTanks, Minu Protanks a week after I started vaping. If I do my part I have no servere ( as in getting in your mouth) gurgling or leaking issues. I am careful to not let any juice down into the air tube through the center when I refill them. I have noticed that if I hear a slight gurgling it time to change the coil because the taste has also gone to crap. My one big flood was when the silicone ring on one of the heads got lost during a refill. It leaking like a $2 dollar bucket.

Possible solution for the protank. Try enlarging the airholes in the 510 threading just a hair. I noticed after awhile the draw on mine started to tighten up causing it to act more like a straw pulling liquid in whenever taking a pull on it. Those tiny airholes in the base easily get blocked when threading it onto the battery. I think it happens because after treading/unthreading so many times the tank eventually begins to seat a bit lower in the connector after the threads begin to wear thus blocking the air holes.

I don't understand why companies insist on putting these tiny airholes ON the threading where it can easily be blocked rather then just ABOVE the threading.

Also be sure the connection post is sticking out just a hair from the threading, not flush and be sure no liquid is in the batteries connection. These 2 things also cause air restriction issues with my protank 2 causing excess liquid to be sucked up rather then air like it should be.

Thank you so much for the good detailed responses and advice everyone. When I tried putting in the replacement 2.5 ohm head that the tank comes with it still leaked.

I'm going to go down to my local vape/smoke shop and pick up a 1.8 or 2.2 ohm coil head and see how that works. If it doesn't work then I think that might have been my last resort. And I'm on to a new tank.
I just rememberd I rebuilt one coil for my friend and it worked perfectly in his tank. So I'm starting to think there might be something wrong with my tank itself.

I love my protanks and other BCC tanks I have. I have found once the level gets to about half way you cannot let it sit on its side. this allows one side of the wick to be out of the liquid which in my theory relieves the vacuum effect the tank has on holding the liquid in the tank.

I have tried the Aspires we ordered 2 on PBusardos recommendation and we both absolutely despise them airdraw is too tight they will not handle power and the flavor is very muted.

the I-Clear 30 was okay after I drilled out every air passage before that I felt like I was going to collapse a lung trying to take a draw.

Vivi Nova was decent but the tank broke off at the threads.

my almost all day use right now is the IGO-W Dripper on a mechanical. it is simple to use, no flooding takes about a minute to replace the cotton wicks and the flavor is amazing.

If all else has failed you go by way of the rebuildable dripper my IGO -W will hold enough juice to get me through a smoke break.

I have had my protank 2s for about four months now, both have had a single airhole bored out to 1.7mm.

I have had gurgling issues before, due to flooding of the atomizers. This happened when a) I bought some cheap replacement heads, which quickly learned were knockoffs, b) when I rebuilt the coils with too little cotton in the atomizers and c) after I dropped one of the tanks I finally realized that the glass was just slightly skew, such that the post did not seat down well on the atomizer seal.

So beyond my own user idiocy as I was learning, I have not had any issues with the tanks.

Tips when rebuilding:
1) Make absolutely sure that when you have seated the top post back in the cup, that the entire of the two holes on the sides are filled with your wicking material. Any spaces will cause flooding of the coils. Personally I only use organic cotton for rebuilds.

2) Don't bother with stainless steel mesh in the coils, it ends up leaving holes as per tip 1, and causing flooding, Unless you use flavor wicks (see tip 3).

3) Don't bother with flavor wicks when rebuilding coils. I have yet to understand why replacement heads get away with them just fine, but my rebuilds don't. Whenever I use flavor wicks I end up with a significant loss of flavor and vapor.

4) The nano micro coils as used by rip trippers are a joke. They require you to use flavor wicks (see tip 3).

After at least 200 atomizer rebuilds I have finally found my sweet spot, listed below. Keep in mind that I use these on a mechanical mod, the resistance comes in at 0.8-0.9 ohms, which is too low for a variable voltage device.

My build:
28 gauge kanthal D
1.5 mm internal diameter
Contact (micro) coil
7 wraps (count 7 lines on top, 5 on bottom
Organic cotton is used as the wick.

A note on other comments made so far: If you do not have a multi-meter, ohm reader or other such device, and do not have a working knowledge of ohms law, DO NOT get an RBA. If you do, at least make sure that you do not, ever, go sub ohm (<1 ohm).
