You need to use lithium-ion batteries, or several alkaline/nimh/nicad's in series to power an atomizer, the voltage you're looking for is between 4 and 6 volts total.
Well first thing in the morning I will go back and get the correct battery...whew, I was excited, then disappointed, now excited again... what a roller coaster!
I don't think radioshack has the right ones, mine doesn't at least. You can get them from lighthound or other US suppliers, although you want to use protected 14500 (AA sized) batteries, not the 10440 (AAA sized) ones, as the 10440s are not available in a protected version.
Radioshack will have a 2xAA sealed battery box, use one side for your switch and atomizer connector, the other side will hold your battery.
Use the 2xAAA box that you've been modding for a USB passthru, all you need is a USB cable to wire up to it and you're done, you've already done the hard part of wiring everything!
my radio shack carries lithium batteries so yours might also. they make a 3.7 volt lithium in a AAA size and if you can find one it will work. the only thing is they charge $20 bucks for ONE double a lithium battery. not sure what the AAA would cost.

Twenty bucks is unreal. I got mine at batteries.com, but I'm sure there are alot of places, and these bats cost around 4 bucks.
Got my Nicostick together today and it didn't work. I found out that I had solder too much on the switch and broke one of the pieces that I solder the wire too. It just fall off. Going to try again tomorrow. I have had enough for today. Hopefully tomorrow it will work after I redo the switch.
Rejoice, you sound like me, LOL. After hours of soldering and testing, I just had enough for the day. I'm embarrased to say how many prongy things I went thru yesterday. Things got better when I took a broken part and practiced soldering for a while.
This is my first time using a solding iron. I had solder on the table and some in the floor.
A little on my wires LOL. So I stepped it up and over did it! Thank goodness I ordered more switches. I have ruin my switch. So tomorrow I may try again. I feeled like that if I didn't leave it,I would throw it all away in the trash.

sometimes it helps to "tin" the wires-once you put some solder on the end of your iron, touch it to the end of the wire to be soldered, then, slip the wire through the lil hole on the switch tab, and just touch the soldering gun to it for a half a second. Then when I do my epoxying for the atty connector, I place a dab of glue on all my solder points to hold them in place. Don't give up, you'll get it and it will be all worth it.
i just botch my first attempt, after three hours total (this included trying to harvest an 801 connector from a dead battery) I gave up. got it all assembled, and tested, but nothing worked. then I came to realize the battery is probably very low and it needs to be fully charged because i literally pulled it out of the package from Dealextreme.
it was fun though! hopefully this thing works out tomorrow.

Yea, I'm going to tin my wires this time. Also use flux. And I bought thinner solder. Hopefully it will heat faster.

I was having all kinds of problems until I did these very same things.
I also made the mistake of trying to solder the batt connection without taking it apart and melted the rubber grommet and shorted the whole thing out.
Maybe someone should start a thread, Thing we have learned about soldering.

Sandpapering the tags a little helps too.
Solder each part first by heating the part then applying solder. Then do the join.

Tone, you give me great hope! I know I can do this, well I keep telling myself that. And I am certainly having a good time with the 5 Radio Shacks in this area, showing them what I'm making with the parts they hunt down for me.
yes you can, I just finished mine! This sucker vapes really hot, talk about throat hit, a few hits and I don't want anymore, which is a first for me since i leach on my 801.
solder was the real problem, I have an 801 connector that I harvested from a dead battery, I got the positive lead in fine. But I was trying to solder the negative to the inside of the ring, after failing and having joint break off, I finally soldered it to the outside, and BANG! problem solved! I'm not going to fiddle with it much more until I get some epoxy so i can secure everything i've done.
it's so worth it!
